      Bro I need some serious suggestion
      I will soon complete grade 12 and will look into bachelor's degree .
      About CS I heard that the topics it includes are so much wide and too much and after that it is good for doing specialization in other subjects like data science software engineering etc . But I don't want too much wide range of topics and I don't know whether I will go for specialization after CS at bs level .
      Should I go for software engineering or Computer science .

    Software engineering is an engineering discipline that is about creation of large and complex software systems.
    Computer engineering is an engineering discipline that is about creation of integrated circuits, computer systems and system software (operating systems, firmware) that specifically runs on that designed system.

    I am in CE almost graduating and I love my major I am not the best student, I have done a coop as a QA and covered lots of stuff from electronics, firmware, physics and coding. But I don’t feel like I truly know/understand as much as other specialized fields like EE or CS/SE. I know basically a little bit of everything but not a lot of one thing. I am a bit nervous going into my last year not knowing where to focus on and what job to get. I like Embedded, OS (Linux especially), Cybersecurity, a little bit of web dev, semiconductors and I do have experience in testing from my coop. But I don’t feel like I can compete against people who have specialized in a particular field. Is this normal?

Also I’m having a hard time in choosing between computer software engineering and software engineering? Do you have an other advice or cons and pros that you can weigh out that weren’t provided in the video. For a better understanding I want to state that I want to either do computer engineering or software engineering because I want to design/build my own video games and apps one day and also enjoy coding and watching videos. There all also other positive alternatives within those fields and I would like to mention I’ll be minoring in art/architecture and digital art and design and know the field of engineering will be of great benefit of that 😭. Sorry for the long paragraph but research and watching videos can only do so much and I don’t know anyone personally who’s majoring in engineering so it would really be of help if you can give me a better understanding of the field since you majored in it

As of right now I do enjoy coding a lot but I also don’t want to limit myself to just software yet if I do transfer I would be pushed a year back in my learning. Any advice on how to make a decision? This video definitely helped but still it’s a hard choice to make.

    • @TamerShaheen
      @TamerShaheen  2 роки тому +1

      Hmm that’s a def hard choice. Software engineering is pretty hard to get into, so if ur in, then that’s really good. However, if u feel like you like more hardware tasks, instead of switching to computer, you could do more hardware side projects or join a student design team and do some hardware work. That way, you get some hardware experience and don’t lose ur software engineering spot and waste a year. Also, software engineers make bank, so I think once u graduate, u will be very inclined to just do software jobs. Also, I don’t know ur entire situation, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

    Hi bro, I got into Computer Engineering at UWaterloo and am waiting for a decision for CS. I also got into CS at UBC. Do you think CompEng at UWaterloo will be worth over CS at UBC? PS - I live in BC

    • @TamerShaheen
      @TamerShaheen  3 роки тому +15

      I’m obv a little biased towards engineering, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I think that computer engineering at uwaterloo is ur best option for two reasons. First, the co-op at UWaterloo is better than any other university in Canada and u have a greater chance of getting incredible jobs and internships that pay very well. Second, computer engineering can allow u to work the same jobs as a computer science major...so in terms of job prospects, the difference isn’t that big. But, u will just miss out on an engineering ring if u take computer science (keep that in mind if the ring is important to u). But again, take what I say with a grain of salt and do what u feel is best for u and ur more comfortable with. Anyways...Congratulations on ur Waterloo engineering acceptance!! 🎉 Lmk what u end up doing :)

      I don’t know much about the University of Lancaster, but if it has everything ur looking, then it might be a good choice. Was it ur number 1 school that u wanted?

    I’m 17 and thinking of which one of these I should take my math isn’t really that good but I am really interested in game development and web design I averaged a 82 in advanced functions ( Canadian course ) in grade 11 which one do you guys think I should go for

    • @TamerShaheen
      @TamerShaheen  2 роки тому +2

      All of them need math, so try to get better grades in calculus. The way to do that is just by practice. You can’t go wrong with any of these choices, but if ur grades are a little on the lower side, the computer science and computer engineering may be better options.

      Is not a big deal. Computer Science Math is not too heavy like others Engineering. Almost every degree in Collegue have Calculus 1 so is not a big deal. Discrete Math and Linear Algebra are not that complex either.

      if ur into that stuff u could go for a graphic design or game design degree since they can lead to careers in web design and game development.

    Tamer, I was planning to get a dual bachelor degree in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, I was also planning to use my electives in computer engineering but I found out that my school only offers computer science and computer system engineering, which one is closer to computer engineering?

    • @TamerShaheen
      @TamerShaheen  2 роки тому +1

      Woah that’s a lot of work. Why don’t you just major in computer engineering?

      @@TamerShaheen To be honest, I love mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. Computer engineering/science/systems engineering are just additions for my overall knowledge in tech , so I was like since my school doesn't offer computer engineering courses, which minor/electives/ courses should I choose; computer science or systems engineering?

    • @Kevin-yj7nd
      @Kevin-yj7nd Рік тому +1

      Dual degree is not worth it. Just by studying mechanical engineering you will get a lot of electrical engineering courses and the jobs opportunities are enough. Besides you will end up specializing and only one area. On the other hand if you study Electrical Engineering you will get a lot of courses from Computer Science. Instead of wasting time learning stuff that you are not gonna need first find what Job you would like to have and then prepare for it. Pick the degree that offers you the best courses and if you need a elective for other degree you take it.

    Bro, so to people who's more into IT(cyber security) stuff should go for Computer Science right? Or I've also seen there's Cyber Security degree, should one go for it?

    • @TamerShaheen
      @TamerShaheen  3 роки тому +2

      I think if u already know u want to get into cyber security, then just go for that. But, if ur still deciding then Comp Sci may be a better option. Just my opinion tho

    How would SYDE compare to these programs?

    • @TamerShaheen
      @TamerShaheen  3 роки тому +1

      SYDE is pretty versatile. They teach u data structures and algorithms, so I’m sure that u’ll be able to work in the software world if u major in it.
