I keep a Milwaukee Inkzall in my fridge. They work great regardless of temp or humidity and you know know when you need to label something so it's not in the fridge too long.
My husband literally just bought about 100 of these on Amazon or Temu or something and when he told me he was just as proud of himself as you are. It’s beautiful, really.

I have adhd and can’t keep track of anything. I do this with fidget toys. Every six months or so I have to rebalance them or I end up with six or eight in my car and only one left at my desk or something like that but I can attest that this is actually a really good strategy.

When i was getting taught carpentry i was always told to avoid these pencils, and just stick with regualr HB ones Possibly because the point dulls easier since you're always using the same 2 edges, and it can't be as easily sharpened. Yes you can just notch an edge on with a sharp chisel but thats a skill in itself, and requires taking out a whole tool or set of tools just to use a pencil, or carrying a bulky drum shaped sharpener that doesn't do a great job. when a regular pencil can be sharpened with a tiny little thing that can sit in your back pocket.

i do this with stuff like tape measures and can openers. it's all about saturation. you need to saturate your home with the things you use most, proportionally. that way, on average, if you open any drawer, you're statistically most likely to find the thing you're looking for
people use to say I'm crazy for my few fridge pencil/pens, idk what is is, but along with all the other kitchen and general house pencils now I have something to write with when I need it. funny enough, I'm currently in an airbnb with a lady who keeps fridge pencils... I always lose stationary, but my special pencil and pen never go missing for long (touchwood). I suppose since I place higher value on that one pen that always works or that one pencil that’s a different colour to the rest, I tend to look out for them.

Dad was a carpenter for years he always called them four cut pencils and I remember I asked him why and he said because you can sharpen it in 4 cuts with a good knife

i do this with stuff like tape measures and can openers. it's all about saturation. you need to saturate your home with the things you use most, proportionally. that way, on average, if you open any drawer, you're statistically most likely to find the thing you're looking for

It also happened to me a few times with drawing/painting equipment. 🤦🏼♀️ So yes. The fridge is a good place to look. 🤷🏼♀️😅

I always lose stationary, but my special pencil and pen never go missing for long (touchwood). I suppose since I place higher value on that one pen that always works or that one pencil that’s a different colour to the rest, I tend to look out for them.
