    I really enjoy fishing with a wacky rig. Nothing skips better under docks and flooded brush along the bank. You can even take couple of feet of leader, put a barrel swivel, put a small weight on the end, and thread your hook in between so that it freely slides and use it to fish a wacky rig super deep without having to wait hours for it to fall (thanks, Matt Stefan!)

    Randy thanks for all that you do for the bass community. Have not tried the 3” yet but will. Something that has improved my hook up ratio with less harm to the fish are thin wire circle hooks. If you can let us know what you think about circle hooks in future videos. Can’t wait for Mental Monday tomorrow.

    Have been wacky rig 30 years, I use a zoom 6inch dead ringer with a piece of none lead solder. Got to have the tail wiggle on the fall,it imitates a blue gill SWIMMING down!!! Watermelon with chartreuse on the tail my favorite and black at night.
    The best hook I like is a gama g lock I wacky everything up to a 10 inch black worm at night tournament money in the bank.

    Thanks for the tips! I like to use 2 o-rings, and hook the bait through the "cross" or "x" so it sits like a traditional wacky rig. Seems to be a good middle ground so far 👍
    I'm also becoming a huge fan of z-man and similar "elaztech" plastics; those things are almost indestructible! Hard to get a rattle in 'em though

    • @rickyrodriguez9831
      @rickyrodriguez9831 2 роки тому +2

      A wacky rig isn’t rigged with the hook along with the lure, it’s supposed to be sideways. Neko rigs hooks line up with the worm.

    • @bjcox6695
      @bjcox6695 2 роки тому +3

      @@rickyrodriguez9831 I understand that; you can put 2 o-rings on a senko and rig your hook perpendicular to the bait like a standard wacky rig with no ring (you could also do a neko rig and set the hook parallel, but there's no reason to use 2 rings for a neko rig). I'm no artist, but to give you a rough "bird's eye view", --->|

    I use 2 “O” rings and crisscross them so the hook is pointing correctly and it doesn’t seem to bother the fish any but who truly knows if something thats foreign to us bothers the fish or do they think it’s just stripes on the worm, you can also put a piece of rubber tubing through the middle and glue it in ahead of time before you go fishing and that saves on baits too

    3” Senko is great around the spawn. It’s also a great bait for stream fishing in the summer for Smallmouth and Trout. Tournament fishing I use 10 lb braid tied directly to the hook. 4lb mono stream fishing or fun fishing. My team partner freaks out if I fish 4lb line. The light braid doesn’t seem to negatively affect my success and I can man handle a decent size fish with it.

    I use the 2-ring crossed wacky rigging because I carry all my gear in my backpack. So that means that sometimes I have just 2 or 3 of one bait; don't always carry a full pack due to limited space. I use clear rings for natural colors and black rings for dark baits.
