This video was a treat. One thing I did notice about Ann, at least relative to the others, is how much her body language and face is geared towards the camera...which low-key makes sense, given that she's a part-time fashion model. /possible explanation for her choreography? //MAYBE
Joker being the best partner/supporting act just makes so much sense, he really connects with his partner and elevates both them and the performance in a way only he could.
Joker thirst hours are always open EDIT: alright I’m commenting as I go for some of these. I LOVE the little choreo detail with Makoto and Ren in Whims of Fate when the partner dance first starts: Makoto sharply turns as if catching Ren, and Ren’s wrists are put together and are tugged forward like he’s being arrested, which hints at Makoto’s desire to join the police.
I absolutely ADORE how when Ryuji comes in to dance with Makoto she visibly tries so hard to save the routine before deciding to tough it out until he leaves. Meanwhile Ann and Ryuji are perfect together she actually knows how to work with Ryuji's strengths
I never noticed Futaba's eyes when she dances with Akechi before... She fully knows what's going on and is is playing into him believing her to be ignorant, you can see her glare at him right before he takes off the mask.
Ryuji yeeting Morgana in the Blooming Villain dance may actually be a callback to the vanilla game's opening, where Ryuji throws Morgana at the end of the opening credits.
2:29:15 can we appreciate that they're replicating what both of their personas do? The Goemon pose with with head wiggle and the moving the sword like Zorro?
Gotta say, I love how Makoto is trying SO FUCKING HARD to dance well and match her partners which makes me happy that Crystal noticed it too. I know people tend to make fun of her dancing because it looks "weird" but I really feel how hard she's trying in each choreography. I'm not sure if people have noticed this, but there are always short breaks in her dancing where she just stops for a second or two because she's thinking and trying to come up with the next part (when she puts her hand on her chin), or moments in which she sort of puts her hand towards her face (as if she's disappointed in herself?) Kind of like "Ugh. No, that wasn't good enough. I have to do better." 🥺 I just feel like that's really sweet of her and again, I know that Makoto's "serious" side annoys a lot of people because "she's not fun like the other characters" but tbh, I think in a cast of so many silly characters we need at least one responsible and mature person to balance things out. Personally, I find her try-hard nature really adorable.
Honestly putting character into the choreography is something this game does i'd argue the best out of all the dancing games and both Makoto and Futaba both being awkward ducklings that are trying their absolute best but just aren't quite as confident as their peers is just amazing characterization. Meanwhile ryuji is just as bad as both of them but he gives it 100% no matter what.
@@appelofdoom8211 I think Futaba's a bit less "awkward duck" and a bit more "doin her thing her way" with a dance background of taking tap classes for a few months when she was younger (I guess tap to match "taping keys" as a hacker?) She's confident enough to kind of make fun of her partners or imitate them- eg "cat" moves with Morgana, headbanging with Ryuji, "that way?!?!" with Joker, exaggerated facial expressions and overdramatic exits with pretty much everyone
I'm using a translator At the end of Akechi and Joker's dance, Joker leaves looking at Akechi with complicated feelings And the camera will zoom in I think there's a lot in this scene Like the shutter scene after the shutter scene If there was dancing after Royal, there would have been more variety of dances and partners dances I'm so sad
Something I noticed whenever Yusuke and Ryuji dance together, the first one it was like Yusuke was telling Ryuji to stop the whole time, like he was bringing his hand up towards him as if to pause him from doing anything. The second they were both just showing major disliking towards each other, turning away as if disgusted and Yusuke literally pushing him
Can’t wait to see you react to kanji. Just, in general. The partner dances in his own dances are great (shoutouts to chie, yu in time to make history and naoto in general), and his appearances in other dances are also good (shoutouts to dance!, snowflakes, and both of naoto’s). Other highlights for me include yosuke/naoto in backside of the tv, rise/yu in now i know, and margaret/yosuke
Joker always changes his style, his mask, to fit his partner, just like a certain someone rushing to swap their personas for a simple date to the jazz club edit: 2:57:28 if I'm correct, that's an illusion, not super hard to do but really fun and looks fancy Edit Edit: The twins dance style is Playing alongside the others with a little bit of teasing. But Akechi? They are the Wardens, playing WITH Akechi, a tool to fate, not allowed to escape. Why have access to freedom when you never fought for your own, after all?
Finally got around to watching the whole. Love your take on all the choreography and the story of Persona. Your reactions always make me appreciate it a little more. As far as repeat choreography goes my initial assumption was that the had routines done for each character based on partner male/female/Morgana/twins. Some of them like Blooming Villain throw that off a bit but not sure. As for Akechi and the twins I'd need to replay to get their context right. As I recall Akechi is a "Trickster" like joker, but not a wildcard. He was introduced into this "game of fate" by the evil God as a means of rigging the system so he didn't have access to the Velvet room (At least I don't recall anything implying he had or could have had access). Loved this and can't wait to see P4 and P3.
with ryuji and morgana in blooming villain, when theyre doing air instruments, ryuji "makes" a guitar and morgana "makes" drumsticks, then they air guitar and air drums, then throw their hands up in the air, as if throwing the instruments in the air, and then they continue with the instruments reversed like they passed to each other, which i love
Oh I am excited for this series, the solo dances are great but one of my favorite parts of these games is the partner dances Generally speaking the choreography for the main dancer in the fever section is 3 types: their personal solo choreography, the choreography for a female partner, and the choreography for a male partner. Of course, the more unusual characters (Morgana and the twins in P5D) have to have unique choreography to accommodate for them as partners. I don't mind the repated choreography too much myself, I think its an interesting perspective shift to see how the same moves come across when paired with a different partner doing their own moves
side note I noticed a comment on the stream about ryuji dancing with his leg and it reminded me of how it's been a struggle to dance with my chronic leg pain
Going through all of these because I haven't seen them either. And then in comes open hair Ann and kills me immediately. If I didn't have a reason to get this game with all the social events and rooms then I sure as hell have one now.
Something you didn't point out with Akechi's partners that I noticed is that in the dances with Makoto and Futaba, at first, they are trying to match and dance along with him, but when he shows his true self (aka: the crazy face scene), it goes from dance choreography to fight choreography. Makoto is trying to punch him and Futaba is trying to catch him, but Akechi just dances around them before forcing them off stage and dancing by himself for the rest of the partner dance.
3:21:21 Idk what made you think the choreography between Futaba and Morgana isnt unique to themselves in Futaba's dance but you are wrong. So he gets a 100
38:32 i seen that as ren trying to keep up with yusuke but since yusuke dances kinda...weird ig he ended up messing up a bit but im not a dancer so maybe ren didn't mess up and im just trippin
Yusuke showing up in Anne’s dance vs. Anne showing up in yusuke’s dance exemplifies something interesting about her character: she doesn’t mind attention, when she’s the one who initiates it. It’s something that I feel like gets overlooked in the “anne being sexualized in the game negates her character arc.” Debates Not saying that argument is right or wrong btw, just pointing out that sometimes she doesn’t mind it: like the beach or when she’s modeling
Weird that on a song to song basis the choreography will be the same depending on the gender. Like theirs only 4 unique dances per character - Male, Female, Morgana and the Twins

Yep I thought of that as well! It could very well be what the choreographer intended with that

I love to call Yusuke's style 'stream of consciousness' dancing, he very much flows from move to move almost without stopping to think about it.

Reminder for everyone to watch the Akechi dance breakdown video mentioned at 3:27:50! Great stuff in there too!
AHH Thank you for reminding me! I forgot to put it in the description!
23:52 This move is actually in Yosuke's too! Yosuke does it right at the start of "Your Affection"
I just love how well Joker matches everyone's energy, I mean, he IS a Wildcard afterall, he's probably swapping to their Arcana off-screen!
2:29:15 can we appreciate that they're replicating what both of their personas do? The Goemon pose with with head wiggle and the moving the sword like Zorro?
Going through these dances like this makes me appreciate the dancing games ten times more

I LOVE this, it was fun seeing all the dances. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
The moves are fire
I think Theo is Lavenza’s favourite sibling but she still helps Margaret and Elizabeth prank him
Definitely dont think Futaba : Haru deserves 50
Yusuke's Blooming Villain is so good Holy shit
the shock and mistakes that came up upon seeing Ryuji yeet the cat tho lol!

very nice

I was really sad that I missed the stream, so I'm extremely thankful for this vod.
And trust I know how busy you are but I get so giddy at the thought of Crystal watching all the deep mentality partners
