Me too but then I think about it and realize it happens with all the greats. like my grandma is the biggest Elvis fan and doesn’t know all his songs yknow
I think it's because people who do not listen to the full album only hear the songs which play on public broadcasting like radio. "Treacherous" is definitely one of my personal favourites and I am always torn about how to feel - I want it to be well known like her most famous songs, but at the same time I like having it be a kind of shared "secret" among fans. ("secret" I say, as though millions have not heard it already XD compared to those with billions of listens, millions feels like a secret haha)
The first time I was heartbroken and I listened to the bridge when it came out 10 years ago i was crying my eyes out. This song will always have a special place in my heart
treacherous stan and proud !!!!! i've been waiting on pins and needles for this one and i'm so glad it's finally here 😭 i could listen to this song for the rest of my life and be happy tbh
My colleague who is a male PE teacher had this song on speakers throughout the gym when I came in, and I got soo excited because this is one of my favorite songs of all time. I asked him if he liked Taylor Swift, most as a joke, I aspected that he just had put on some random playlist. But he said that he loved Taylor and was so excited to hear the new re-recordings of her. He even showed me videos from her concerts he had been to, TWICE. Im so jealous. I was not expecting my male middle age colleague to love taylor, but I absolutely love it!
literally cannot listen fast enough. all i want to do is get to the 10 minute version of all too well, but i’m listening in order and saving the best for last. we love you taylor
"All we are is skin and bone, trained to get along. Forever going with the flow, but you're friction." I just love LOVE that lyric, I'm literally crying at how poetic and beautiful that line is. Some people will never understand why we keep saying we love her songwriting.
I swear this woman makes me get higher grades. I used in an analysis the word "treacherous" after hearing it from this song and the teacher specifically told me it was a great word choice.
Honestly this is probably the closest we’ll get to a Taylor concert right now since we’re still in the middle of the pandemic, but even though we’re all separated in different areas of the world something still warms my heart knowing that we’re all listening to the same songs together in a way
How did Swifties back in 2012 survive the lyric, "All we are is skin & bones, trained to get along, forever going with the flow, but you're FRICTION" 😭😭😭✋
“Your name has echoed through my mind” just feels so airy. So many of us have been there, falling for someone that we shouldn’t fall for or just seems irresistible. Or your know it’s going to be a bad idea. Taylor captures this so perfectly. I listened this to this on repeat so many times lol
This song is the key of D. It's a straight forward chord progression using these chords (D, A, Bm, em, G [not in that order]) and yet - this is probably the most beautiful use of a D chord progression I've ever heard. Taylor is so amazing how she can take the notes in the key of D - without a key change in the entire song -- and make it a masterpiece to the ear. It's probably (musically) my all time favorite Taylor Swift song.
not to mention that she did something really cool with it, in the RED acoustic performances she did this song and rather than going with the standard pattern she went with a capo on 2 and C without the middle finger, a G with only the middle finger and the first finger on the 2nd string on the first fret, and etc with the other chords while plucking the bass note. very long winded explanation from me but it's beautiful lol
the way she repeats the bridge after the second lasts chorus and manages to make it even better than the first just proves she can do things no one in the world can
In the original Red to be honest never really paid attention to this song, but since the re-recordings came out this version has grown on me so much, it's becoming one of my favorites.
I wish this song wasn’t so overlooked. It’s definitely my favourite, even with the edition of the spectacular vault tracks. It just has me in a way I never thought possible.
It's sad to see how fans went first for the hottest songs like Red or 22, getting 20k views in 10 minutes, but this masterpiece barely had 4.5k views in that time. Definitely an underrated song.
i'm going in order. currently on ikywt. all too well is next! after that wantegbt, and i don't remember what 7 is, or 8, or 9, yeah i should work on memorizing that.
actually i think most of us went to All Too Well 10 minute version first but there's absolutely nothing wrong about us going to our favourites first isn't that what you're doing by coming here first
"All we are is skin and bone trained to get along; forever going with the flow but you're friction" my fav line ever from this song! its saying how things are always struggling to fit into place when you're committed to a relationship. you keep thinking is it gonna work out and there is always that sense of retreat cause one may find their priorities are heavier (as in you're also giving love to your partner instead of just yourself).
Okay but I'm literally crying thinking about how listening to Taylor's music felt like talking to an older sister back when this was released and now I'm the age she was writing this album....
after hearing this song, i felt so motivated. it changed my whole life, now i’m a successful person. i got 10 olympic gold medals, 7 oscars, 5 grammys, 9 padma shree awards. next year i’m planning to buy moon
Listening to RED again is like witnessing Taylor’s moment when she was still a rising star, which I didn’t get a chance to. Just make me cry so bad!!! Hope she realized how many dreams she had created for us❤️❤️❤️❤️
The emotions I’m feeling right now are unexplainable. Sadness, happiness, and gratefulness that I’m one of the lucky ones in getting to experience the release of RED twice.
Taylor is just not an Idol. She's a girl a dreams, dedication, intelligent, So Much passion. She inspire Many. Taylor is an icon and a Queen!!. I'm Beyond proud of her
Taylor Swift, your name has echoed through my mind and I think you should know that you are THE MOST TALENTED, GIFTED, KIND ARTIST ON THE PLANET. This 47 year old Swiftie ADORES you!! Thank you for creating music like this. Your art is a gift.
It's surreal to hear this re-recording... This was the first song I ever learned to play on the guitar when I dug it out of my parents' basement and taught myself 4 chords
I remember going to school when I was 13, listening to this. When I turned 15 I was playing this on repeat cause its my comfort song, twas that time when I liked a boy whose name kept echoing in my mind lol. The first boy that I cried over with cause of communication barriers. Tho now in my 20s I know it was just a puppy crush, I cant help to feel nostalgic over my life before, and how all Red album songs became a huge part of it ❤️ thank u Taylor for allowing us to treasure this masterpiece and all the memories once again
What this woman comes up with… it’s beyond lyrics, it’s beyond music. I’m not a Swiftie by any means, but she transcends time and space. In each one of her songs… you can pinpoint a time in your life where a song applies. She deserves everything she gets. She IS music.
Being a new edition to the fandom i feel so special coz like i am lucky enough to experience all the excitement for the album release and all. I get a chance again. Btw this is my first time listening to RED and I WAITED FOR THE TAYLOR'S VERSION.
Every background of the songs are just really genius. Just like this one. Being in love feels like you're on top of the hill. You are scared to jump but will do it anyway even tho it's 'treacherous'. Much love for Tay. ❤️
The first three tracks have been SUCH an improvement over the original songs, which already were a pure perfection. I feel like a listen to a new album. It's magical 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've always loved the lyrics to this song more than anything else. It's so warm, so soft even when it keeps building, so much like a poem I can't help myself falling for it. I knew this slope was treacherous ❤️
I like how the lyrics boldly claim “this slope is treacherous, I I I like it” Like idk. It’s like she’ll do whatever pleases herself, what are you gonna do about it? kind of mood
This was my personal favourite from Taylor's "Red" and still none other can replace it! Always had a special place in my heart, fell in love with it again!❤️
This song is one of my favorite, she said that it's all about when you're falling for someone and you know that it's dangerous and you know that it could really just annihilate you if it were to not work out and it could possibly not work out and it probably won't work out but you go for it anyway.
People claim that this song is sweet, in 2012 I thought that too. But whenever I read the lyrics without music now, it feels like a pathetic plea. It reads as if she's begging someone else to let the relationship happen, but I think she's actually begging herself not to let it happen. We can want something, so deeply, but still understand how unhealthy it might be for us. Toxic relationships can be addicting sometimes. It's easy to romanticize, and she did it well in this song.
When you look at it from that perspective, I agree. But ignoring the context behind when Taylor wrote this, if reality did play into the lyrics, I honestly just look at this from a point of view where the guy isn't toxic. In my head, I imagine a story about a girl who believes this "slope is treacherous" not because the guy is a problem, but because she herself doesn't think she's ready to fall in love (and where despite that, it's already happened - "not sure if it's a choice").
Used to be the most underrated song ever. We have to change that.
Nah, the real fans is in loving with this song
This is the best song on the album (except for atw versions)
