My FIRST E-book is now available on Amazon. it's all about traveling the Philippines and what people should know before visiting! www.amazon.com/dp/B07G2NT313 Thanks for all my viewers who helped me gain perspective for this HUGE project. More books to come!
Thanks for sharing "the story behind the kwento". I'm really happy that you've decided to work on a book, one I'm sure you wish you had when you arrived...I know I would have loved it for my first trip. I've been there lots of times now, but there is always something new. I'll be heading back in late July, and your vlogs keep me going when I am missing my second home. As you are writing, if you would like any input from a "frequent visitor" I would be honored to help out. As always, thanks for all you do.
Mmm, this may sound odd, but next time you visit could you get some B-roll of a few buffets? Im toying with the idea of doing a video talking about those for some reason.
Why you're offering these tips to other people you must keep in mind that you had a job and a home the moment you got there. But even then everything was not coming up roses. Maybe you're saving that story for the book so I won't remind you but don't forget to tell the stories that your roommates tell about your first 6 months in the Philippines.
Manila, Caloocan to be exact, also Batangas province...San Juan. My Filipino family often jokes that I am a 'Cano OFW......You are awesome, thanks for all you do
Dude, that’s like a dream for many Americans who try and live in the Philippines - to work for an American company while living there. Earning dollars while spending in pesos!
Thanks for sharing your awesome kwento. You took that leap of faith to move into a different country and gave the philippines a chance to be part of your life. Your life would never be the same again. Go for that book Anthony! I think that's a great idea. Next vlaaaahhg! Next cliuuhhp!
Being a tourist in the Philippines is different that settling there for good. If you want to just tour there, you don't need to change anything like adjust to the locals and speak tagalog but when you want to settle for good you have to adjust learn tagalog and do what they do in order to feel at home.
Hello Anthony, I like your videos, I enjoyed watching it, thanks for all your kwentos, Your not maarte...your down-to-earth, thank you..your one of my favorite.. And thanks for liking my country Philippines...God bless
I liked your story how you moved away from North Carolina and made the Philippines your home even after divorce because I been down that same road. Already planning my trip next year following your lead.
Thumbs up Anthony. You are inspirational compared to many of the other expats that are living in the Philippines. Stay yourself and dont get dragged into the expat drama soup. I'm in Ortigas, right around the corner from you 😎👍
Randy Yuvienco From one Filipino to another, Congrats for being here. U.S. and Phillipines have a good history together. Hope you fall in love with our country. Enjoy the awesome life and beauty here.
I love my Noodle thank you... I already Love the US. I'm extremely happy to be here and Blessed to be here in the US. Just missed the Philippines specially my Family and the Food😁😄
Randy Yuvienco You're welcome. I'm glad to hear that. Definitely nothing could ever compare to the Philippines, (or the food) not even close. In your local area, there might be a Filipino club or some kind of Filipino community that you could be a part of, and if possible, maybe you can find some good Filipino food. There are trendy hipster Filipino restaurants popping up places but they're not really authentic, they're more of a fusion inspired places, unless you find one that is ran by older folks. Here's a tip though: Any reference to adobo, that comes from somebody that it's not Filipino, they will most likely be referring to Latin/Mexican adobo, which is only a spice and not anything at all like our adobo that you are used to, but they all think that they know it. They don't! Lol! It can confuse many people, as it did for me. So just be forewarned, lol. God bless you. Serve Jesus and you'll be fine.
Jasmine Dev Yeah. That’s why I wish I could figure out a way to give up my life in the USA and live in the Philippines because everyone is so friendly. I would just like to have a somewhat middle class lifestyle and not be so poor were Im living in a squatter area
As an American who visited the Philippines for 5 weeks, life was NOT greener on the other side of the US. I enjoyed my sons room mates company but only one was a native of the Philippines. She was awesome. The other person was Brittish and as long as coffee exists, we aren't that much different that the Britts. There was alot of "fake" people who crossed my path there. I would like to point out, "I see those here too". I missed alot but have zero desire to return. It was way too hot in January/February so I can't imagine what the rest of the year was like. Make a good life here in America and travel all over the world but as for moving, I am a happy American.
Some people like it some people don’t. I personally don’t care about the weather. The reason I want to move to the Philippines is because I love the people and I love their culture. Some of the most fun times that I had in the Philippines was when I got to hang out in the squatter area with the poor Filipinos. I love the simplicity that life has to offer there. I don’t care about the rat race here in the United States. Once we die we can’t take our belongings with us. I would rather hang out with people who actually care for you and who are friendly.
I see the difference already. The people who really love me and care about me are my family and friends and they are here. I don't care about what people who don't know me and live in other countries think of me. I am proud to be an American where I can work myself to death for the rest of my life and have a place to live and good food that is safe to eat. It works for some, but not all.
Thanks for that inspirational story. That was also my biggest question, "why did you move to the Philippines? Well, you just answered that. I also happened to be an ex-insurance adjuster and I hate the paperwork!! The other big question is, "why did you move out?" Maybe another video :) BTW, I am getting loud hums from time to time on your vids. I wonder if it is only me.
Thanks for sharing man. I can definitely relate to the divorce part, having gone thru it a few years ago after being married 12 yrs and with that person a total of 15. I’m still going thru the rebuilding stage unfortunately and I wish I could travel or move overseas but it’s hard while having young kids. Props to you and your transformation and taking a chance like you did. So what all are you doing right now job-wise and will you be going back to the Philippines anytime soon?
Hey bro I'm a Jersey guy I live in Raeford NC right below Fayetteville NC I'm really interested in moving to the Philippines I am trying to get my SSI at the time . As you know SSI is about $850 a month , I'm trying to get as much info as possible to see if I can make it living there ! I'm sure I can because your expected to live on that here in the states! I am of little means I don't have an expensive life style , my question is can I make it there ? I'm disabled from a car accident is why I'm trying to get my SSI I'm 46 years old single with 2 pitbulls
if you don't live in the big city areas like Manila or Cebu then yes. on that sort of income you'll have to make trade-offs like buying the local Filipino brands rather than the ones you're used to but it's entirely possible.
Yes that's really big amount already. You can get a house and lot and live quietly. I advise u learn tagalog to really understand our culture and make connections. If u really want to settle for good, do what Filipino is doing. For example, if u are near the water and having your own banka as well and try fishing. Or if u can have ur own farm that would be good if u are in the province. Have half filipino offstrings and teach them the filipino family way/culture( Filipino children love their parents with unending care and supports until the old age) having children in the Philippines is an asset. Do what locals do, ride the wave, and you will enjoy it. Filipino men loves to have fun a drinking sessions. Lol. I'm a Filipino working abroad and my dream is to retire in the Philippines especially in the province. My grandfather is a Chinese who moved to the Philippines, settled and die in the Philippines. He had 12 filipino children.
..You have a Fantastic Personality and ,,,One BIG HEART. I can see already just by the Comments your changing lots of people Positively ,,,,Keep it up.

@evancortez2...The goal is complete opposite for Filipinos migrating to the USA. Many Filipinos migrate to the USA because they search for a greener pasture and live their American Dream. For Americans migrating to the Philippines, they are mostly retirees and want to get the most of their monthly pensions in developing countries where cost of living is very low. Some find local and often younger girls, young enough t be their daughter, as partners to do household chores and caretakers, thus saving them some more dollars for househelp and enjoy unlimited sex. Yes, sad to say that most Americans coming to the Philippines not because they like it here but because they are aging people and badly need some nursing care without bursting a hole in their bank account. If you notice, many of them really don't like the Philippines and often make unsavory comments about the culture. But maybe there are 'very few' American expats out there who genuinely live here because they like the culture and embrace every flaw that this country has.
the only thing that most Filipinos want to go to US is to have better future, to earn decent income. That's all. but not anymore, everyone can make a decent income through online like, fiverr, upwork, youtube, udemy ebay, amazon etc. thanks to technology.
But your situation is far removed from the normal expat situation. Tha vast majority of us dont have jobs there, many dont have any marketable online skills. Most are living on tourist visas which dont even allow work. So how much can you help?
Well, other than the cultural experience, i was on a tourist visa 3 separate times for different reasons, and i have many expat friends on tourist, quota, and retirement visas that i routinely draw from for these videos.
like your video. I'm your new subscriber. can you tell me your home base in the Philippines? thank you for shooting your videos and keep it coming. it helps Filipino American like myself to get updated with the country. In three years, I will take advantage of my early retirement from my government job. I plan to retire in the Philippines in the Metro Tagaytay area and Angeles City. Thanks again. Hello, my name is Rick, please let me share a little about me. I met a beautiful Filipina on line and conviced myself that I had to go meet her, so i did. We fell in love. I have now been back several times and we have a daughter together. The problem is im still in the good ole U.S.A. and they are still in philippines. We have had many plans to rectify this distance issue but things keep going wrong. plans foiled. I would love to be able to move to the phils, thats where my heart is. unfortunately my wallet seems to want to stay in america. I have never really given much thought to working in the phils. maybe you could do a video on how you might go about becoming employeed in phils or maybe on ways to produce the money needed to live there full time. any help you could offer would be appreciated.
If Filipino go out of the country and find jobs. You guys can do it too. Just the other way around. Just get used of the culture, food, ways etc. Many jobs...teach, insurance, start your own business. See those giant malls many are TNT (Tago nang Tago) Chinese. They have no papers. Rest assured Pinoy don't kick you out of the country even if you have no papers..just avoid making comments to their Looney President.
Dealer 4519 Haha...ours is their favorite one. That's the great tactics of these Commies nowadays. Help win those Morons so that they can poison their brain and destroy those Democratic countries. Ours is their first victim, yours was just second. He's buying military arms and supplies now in Russia and China.
worse. I married a spoiled daddys girl who never let me forget that her father could fire me for the smallest little thing. She had a habit of holding that over my head WAY too much.
really? the info is there, mayhaps you weren't giving it your full attention but hey, who am I to judge. thanks for the view and the positive interaction! :)
Anthony Smith Because you wrote back, I feel like I need to provide some context here. You first talked about how you had a wife and then you got a divorce. As well as being an insurance agent and not enjoying it. Then you went into having a youtube channel and meeting a guy running a network. Then there was issues, so you started your own Network. About this point in the video, at 4:52,you say this was "pre pre Philippines". Then you go on about wearing a dress shirt and looking profession during Skype. At this point the only time you have mentioned the Phillipinnes is your "pre" remark. I'm not trying to be mean to you here. I'm trying to inform you that if you made a change, you may have more viewers.
OH, a network for an MCN, I thought you meant an MCN. Either way it is his story so he can take as long as he wants to tell it. I do with someone wasen't asking you to pay attention for less than 15 minutes. Just disappear if you don't want to finish it, we can't hold your hand for the entire time.

Maybe the story of why you decided to not stay would be worthwhile. I came to the Philippines and intend to stay....
I've always intended to go back, the short answer is that my family needed me so I came back to try to help out.

Are u living there now?????
is 70 000 pesos enough income in the Philippines for a Expat?
That depends on where you are setting up and your situation. Out in the province sure. Manila... Might be tough.

At this point the only time you have mentioned the Phillipinnes is your "pre" remark.
I'm not trying to be mean to you here. I'm trying to inform you that if you made a change, you may have more viewers.
He never ran his own MCN, I didn't hear that.
Dealer 4519 4:41 "So I got together a band of friends and merrymen and what not and we started a youtube network"
