The fragrances he made for the Asian market were trash! But Sauvage Elixir, Dior homme sport 2021 and Vanilla Diorama were excellent in my opinion.
Kurkdjian has done nothing of any worth since he's been at Dior. Two years already. His own line has also become a conveyor-belt of uninspired fragrances with some classics like Ciel De Gum and Absolut Pour Le Soir replaced by generic, one-dimensional laundry musks that are somehow cool on TikTok. I tried New Look recently - another mundane release that seems to typify his work the past few years. He's a big name now, deservedly so but these days he just phones them in.

Sampled these in store the other day, and all were just hyper synthetic.. you might as well go buy mancera!
Also sampled the new TF Amber Intrigue which is just D&G luminous night amber & dates scent, but x6 the price. Although Black lacquer, is the best thing they've done in a long time imo, just the price point is off the charts for 50ml.
... although a bargain compared to Ensars new limited editions with solid silver caps and plaques, at between 13-16k each! and all sold out within an hour!! 🤯🤷♂️ thats $260-320 per mil 😲🤣

Dude my heart legit broke when you confirmed my fears that Dior is done.
I unnecessarily worry that the old powerhouses have all been demolished forever, and from an artistic standpoint-this gives me pause and makes me feel super bummed.
And also concerned that the market just won’t ever appreciate fragrances like we do, which also makes me a lot of things that I can’t control so fuck it.
We will all smell good.

Not only that but the oil concentration has nothing to do with it anymore, they use such strong molecules that 20% oil would be enough so the rest is usually solvent or hedione.. Meanwhile old eau de toilette can still outperform them

When you said MFK just went overboard with the ingredients - you should check out the talk he and Johnny Depp had on a ~3 minute promotional video for Sauvage Forte. Straight up says how he wants to always push using as much in the ingredients as possible in terms of concentrations. Funny how you called it out even in this fragrance.

@@RamseytheRam MFK's issue seems to be that he's reached the top, and there's interviews with him where he says things along the lines of "I can't just go working on creating what I want, I have to balance the business interests". Which is nonsensical and only something someone who's moved on from his craft and is now mostly occupied with making bank more than he already has. So in that video, he demonstrates that he's just lost. He believes he can be the perfumer mega-star while also being beholden to people that want him to make the most mass appealing things possible.
When you're at the top like him, you can't keep innovation and experimentation at the fore-front while also trying to do that in your professional capacity to create mass appealing products. The reason is, being at the top is hard enough even if you fully dedicated to potentially loss-leader products.. Especially when you're near the top like he is. It's like an NFL player being tasked with pushing the limits of peak physical and performance fitness, while also telling him to make sure the NFL is also making more money than ever before every quarter. That's just insane... But he's saying he's doing that (or just lying about it given that he understand the distinction between pushing an art, and pushing mass appealing business goals are almost always in opposition to one another).

Well they buried Christian Dior with like a years worth of Muget Flowers, so I guess it was just the total understanding of how superstitious he was and just how much he loved the Lily of the valley

Ramsey, you will surprise if I tell you this Esprit De Parfum Lucky has been flying. According to SA in Saks and Bergdorf Goodman advisors Lucky has been the best seller from the line up in extraits and keeping getting sold out.

@@RamseytheRam The new Ambre Nuit is a good warm spicy ambery scent, should have renamed it. You will like the Ambre Nuit not similar to Grand Soir according to my nose. Found Oud Isphan Extrait underwhelming keeping in the mind the concentration.

It’s a shame that Lucky is probably not gonna be so lucky and be axed in the near future. But Dior needs to get its act together pretty soon. Another disaster was Eden-Roc.

Got two samples of Hope recently. On first impression it basically just smells like promise. Please do a review on Hope soon, I wanna see if you think its basically a slightly different version of promise.
