    Thanks for the Info, we’re in the process of downsizing from a 55 Ft. tip to tail rig to a 40 Ft. rig, (it’s a truck and TT setup) we like going to state parks quite a bit and can be challenging to get in and out of with the large rigs sometimes, and the dreaded gas station stops, so I’m confident with 15 Ft. less rig that we will be quite a bit more nimble in our travels!

      That sounds like a very smart move Marty. Thanks for sharing your decision and the thoughts behind it here!

    Love to down size my paid for gas 32 bounder with (solar & lithium batteries) to a 25 -28 ft. class C. My problem is buying a new / used class c cost so much $50000 to $90000. That's a lot of gas for what I driving now. I live in Ca so boondocking out west is a lot easier that back east. Thanks Don

      That's the thing about RVing, there's always one decision after another to make. And a lot of the time they aren't easy decisions! :-) Thanks for watching Don.

    Another way to look at #6 (big rigs cost more) is that you can get a newer small RV for the same money as an older big DP. Older coaches require more TLC.

      @jerry: That sounds sensible but probably better to buy a recent used small RV. During the Covid Craze quality control went out the window. Most RV brand builds suffered. I wouldn't buy anything newer than 2019 myself.

    We currently have a tt. Tip to tail it’s 23 ft then add the hitch and tow vehicle it becomes over 40 ft. We are looking at a Class C ( to make life a little easier) at 26 to 27 ft. To us it’s supposedly downsizing cutting off over 15 ft. Haven’t made our decision yet but we will hire a certified inspector whatever we decide. Great video!

      That's exactly what I had in mind when making this video. Thanks for sharing your situation and the thought process you are using to downsize!

    You make some excellent points, and as a 42ft. DP owner with a toad, your comment that driving these big rigs is stressful really hit home. It definitely requires complete attention to the road and can be exhausting. Having just driven up and down the Stevens Pass in Washington is testament to that assertion! So I limit driving to no more than 200 miles, taking advantage of most rest stops along the way, and keep the speed down. We are not boondockers, and try to book only big rig friendly RV parks which really helps reduce the stress levels upon arrival. We find having the comfort of a big diesel pusher is well worth the disadvantages as you point out at this stage of RV ownership, Thanks for your always informative relevant videos!

      I agree Rod. Even though all of the points I mentioned about bigger rigs ring true with us as well, we still love our diesel pusher and have no desire to downsize yet. But you never know what the future will bring. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences on this subject Rod!

    I'm torn between a 30 ft minnie plus fiver & an Arctic Fox 32 ft fiver. May not sound like much of a difference but the Minnie Plus can be towed by 3/4 ton truck whereas the AF fiver is built HEAVY & is taller by 13.5 ft! AF headquarters recommends a 1 ton dually. Love the AF for its storage capacity, roominess, & build to withstand heavy winds & winters. Figure I can go more places with the Minnie Plus, though. Waaaaaah lol... Decisions.

      LOL ... The good news is that going either way should get you a great rig Celeste!

    I had a 21QB, I was going to downsize to a B but didn't for various reasons but I'm not sure I'm ever. I may get another C one of these days... Maybe a B if I find the right one

    Thanks so much for another great video. Can I ask what your experience has been fitting into camping spaces? Thanks.

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому

      We mostly stay at Thousand Trails parks and the vast majority of them have plenty of space for even larger rigs. At least the ones we have stayed at are that way. And when making reservations outside the TT system, we have not usually had a major problem with campsite size, but the roads moving around inside the park have sometimes been a challenge. I hope that helps Randall.

    I’m looking at a Jayco 2010 model. It had water damage around the sky light but the owner had a dealership to repair it. Would you think it would be safe to purchase?

      I really can't say without seeing it in person Randy. I advise that you have a qualified tech take a look to make sure the work was done properly.

    What is your opinion on Layton travel trailers?

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому +1

      They are a pretty small company and I haven't had a lot of experience with them personally. But I have heard good things about them. Usually smaller RV builders tend to focus on quality more than the high production brands. But you often pay more for that better product. I hope that helps.
