There is nothing like being in the middle of that sound! The organist, Jim Wetherald, wrote the organ accompaniment that is now used by so many others, and the piper, Brian Yates, is the best piper! This is a tradition on the last Sunday in October, as the church celebrates it's Scottish heritage. It's worth the trip!
Beautiful rendition in a beautiful setting. That church is so transcendent; it reminds me that God is GOD. Too many churches IMO, evoke an attitude of God as a white bearded cuddly grandpa. He IS that to His children, but He is also the Creator and Judge of all as well. That's something we forget from time to time I believe.
This is one of the most beautiful and majestic pieces of music that I have recently become addicted to!I have listened to as many versions as possible and consider this to be second only to the Recessional at a Church in Louisville. If they had made this version showing the actual performance I would probably rate it equal first. The horrible comment regarding the Organist is totally unjustified and unfair, it is a superb performance and I speak as an Organist of many years standing. The tempo is also perfect, some versions seem to want to rush it.
This could be the most adorable piece of music in the modern world. In my view it is very soothing for the human senses.Thrre cheers for the Germans who wrote it.Thanks.
The sheer magnificence of this stunningly beautiful church is breathtaking!!!! The piper & church organist conspire to produce the best presentation of Highland Cathedral I have ever had the privilege of hearing!!!! Thank you 🙏
I grew up here in Stamford CT and I used to go to services here and take piano lessons in the building next to this chapel. I would come in here often by myself and just sit here for long periods of time in awe of the images and the peace. Thank you for putting this up. Brings back many good memories!
Beautiful both visually and musically. My cousin was a Presbyterian Minister, and later in life a bagpiper played this song as my wife entered the church for our wedding. Perfectly beautiful.
This church is honestly an architectural masterpiece. It must be seen in person. While this is a great video, nothing does it justice like being there. I would have loved to have been there as this song was playing, as it too is probably better in person.
With a remote control Hexacopter downlinking a video feed from a gopro hero3. The camera sits on a gyro stabilized gimbal. The aircraft is flown within line of sight with no automation, (altimeter hold, GPS) just thumbs.
May I suggest that Chartres Cathedral is impressive and this modern version can not hold a candle to it. The money spent on odd angles and extra steel to take the stress of leaning wall could have built a real cathedral. The Music - Impressive. Very well done. This is one of the best renditions to be heard.
The organist isn't playing the melody. The organ is being used to add harmony, which a single bagpipe cannot do beyond a drone, and therefore is adding to the ensemble while allowing the bagpipe to take the melody alone.
