    Many powerlifting and strongman trainees fixate on fixing weaknesses as a means of improving their squat, bench, or deadlift. Weaknesses undoubtedly need to be fixed, the important question is how.... This video covers the difference between training philosophies; one suggests emphasizing special corrective exercises, while the other suggests your competition movement IS the corrective exercise!

      Frequency vs minimalist

      @@HooDRidEWhiteYI think that is a poor definition of the training philosophy. Eastern is stress over recovery and Western is recovery over stress. Not that neither prioritize usage of the other, just the emphasis is the main point that the programmes are built around. Eastern suits people with exponential recovery, while Western suits majority of people. A good mix is in between both of these, and not to either extreme I’d say

    Most of my competition doesn't have home gyms like I do. I'm soaking in all your knowledge applying it to my plan and previous knowledge and I'm going to conquer the local powerlifting circuit after Coronavirus is a sad memory.

    Thank you for your videos Alex. They're so good, so precise and honest that I unsubscribed to more than half of my channels.

    That’s the problem I have with juggernaut, they focus on weaknesses even for beginner levels. I believe beginners just need to focus on getting stronger.

      lol a begginer have no weaknesses, they are just weak. I am amazed how some people make so complicated stuff for guys that just eating, sleeping and doing a simple LP can do amazing, they might not even know how to keep their back tight or push hard why would you waste time in details if you haven't even got the basic stuff right?

    Honestly I just want to squat 315, bench 225 for reps, and do pullups with a 45lb plate. Should I just stick to linear programming?

    • @willdavis6582
      @willdavis6582 4 роки тому +6

      I think for the squat and bench that linear progression should get you there. It only took me about 7 months to squat 315. I'm 230lb though. If you're 160lb then it'll probably be a little harder

      Yes! Those numbers are relatively quick to get as long as you stick to something simple and predictable. And if you are on the small side, then eat up!

    Hey, Alexander, cheers from Siberia!
    You might want to improve your pronunciation of Sheiko, it's more like Shake-O, but without a pause.
    Great content, man!

    Fantastic video, thank you so much. Just curious, for the squat or bench for example, how do you like to go about training them say 2x a week (say with a basic linear progression program). One day heavy one day more reps? Thanks again for the great content.

    • @HolidayFortnight
      @HolidayFortnight 4 роки тому +5

      I’d probably recommend a heavy day of around 3-4 sets 4-6 reps and then a moderate/light volume day in the 10-15 rep range. Start with 3 sets of 10 and gradually add reps until you can add another set, then just repeat the process. Once you’re up to 6 sets of 10 it’s probably time to just add some weight and bump the volume back down to 3 sets to re-sensitize the muscles for growth. Only take a deload week if you really feel run down, but none of your volume work should be to failure so you shouldn’t need one.

    do you think doing a 3x12 with a 17 rep max is too light?

    • @AlexanderBromley
      @AlexanderBromley  4 роки тому +5

      Higher rep work is very hard to predict. Depends on how good the motor is on the person doing it, what your rest periods are like, and what the goal of the workout is to begin with (get close to failure or simply get some light volume in). Very new lifters along with some cardio bunnies could clip that out no problem, but I would be pretty burnt by the end of that, if I finished at all. This is where learning how to gauge your own fatigue and effort comes into play. Unfortunately, that is a very hard thing to explain in a few sentences.
