    I recently went from a Sport Glide to a Road Glide ST, huge difference at highway speeds. The Low Rider ST fairing is definitely better than the Sport Glide though, can’t do the mid controls and I’m only 5’11”.

      Whether you can ride it for three hrs straight depends on you! I changed my seat and risers for a better fit for me, and kept my mid controls, with mini Mx boards rather than pegs. Thats good for me, but others went to forward controls for the longer rides.

    Just did a short demo ride this weekend. My first impressons...I was pleasantly surprised by that fairing at highway speeds. At 5'11 it felt just right, no need to make any changes to it. Handles great, very flickable for a Harley. Gear shifts felt almost too smooth, but that's to be expected coming from a clunky Sportster. And ofcourse the power!

    As always I appreciate your bike reviews - I think they’re fair and honest. I love my LRS but might change up to the ST if they ever change the pipes in order to size match the bags. Just an element I can’t get past. Thanks.

      Buy a 2018-2021 Sport Glide 107 instead. Bags may not be sized matched but they blend better with the rear fender lines, bike delivers the MPG's and the 2 into 1 exhaust delivers gobs and gobs of torque. Add a Memphis Shades aftermarket fairing. Much better gauges than the LRST.

      I love my Road King Special but if I had to buy another bike I would go with Low Rider ST. Really your SS Cam chest kit and pipes away from a hot rod as the bike already rips. Harley hit a home run with LRST. Great video Matt 🤙🏽

    I’ve got an Ultra Limited & a Low Rider ST & they’re completely different to ride. Yes, non-Harley riders may laugh if you call the Low Rider a “sports bike” but it can be ridden much harder than the big tourers. If I had to sell one then it’d have to be the Ultra coz the Low Rider is just so much fun, so much lighter too. Lucky for me that I don’t have to make a choice. Great review as always guys.

      I have the 2023 Low Rider ST and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The saddlebags are really decent storage on shorter rides. The rock solid fairing keeps the wind from turning you into a human sail. You probably wouldn't ride long on a bike without the bags and fairing. You'd be wishing you'd chosen the ST.

    Agree with you that long distance touring in many respects are better on a touring motorcycle. However, if you are of small stature like Million Dollar Bogan you can ride the FXLRST from L.A. to Sturgis and back and save a lot of money on purchase and operating costs. The performance of this bike is one of, if not the Best HD has ever made. I Love my 2023 FXLRST!!

    On a FXLRS or ST traction control or rider modes aren't necessary, however ABS is a must. I've ridden my FXLRS on water at highway speeds, in rain, dirt and ice and it performed flawlessly. It's time the Company takes a cue from Europe and have ABS, TC and Cruise standard on all the Softail platforms. Triumph for example offers all that tech in most of their lineup under 15k out of the box.

      With two but I think it came down to a cost savings move when most people stick the second fob in a drawer and forget about it or lose it. So probably did it to save money on something a lot of people will never use. This is also the case with the heel Shifter.

    Its an awesome motorcycle and nice to see HD getting out of their comfort zone a bit. However, at that price point for it not to come with a full TFT and radio package tucked behind that fairing is some world class BS! The Atari style 8 bit speedo/tach looks cheap and completely out of place on 2023/2024. If that's the best they can do then just skip it and put analog gauges on the dash. The MoCo shot themselves in the foot... should have kept the Sport Glide and put that fairing on it. The mid controls on the Low Rider are not comfortable at all, at least for me. I'll keep my '18 Sport Glide, thanks.

    The right side saddlebag on a Low Rider ST is smaller because the exhaust system has already been EPA certified for the standard Low Rider S. If Harley developed a different exhaust system for the Low Rider ST they would HAVE to certify the new exhaust with the EPA and that costs money. Harley does NOT want to spend the money.

    There are some things I really like about this bike and there are things I don't like. I don't think I will be trading in my Heritage for one.

    Compare a softail to a touring bike. In term of wind deflection/protection, storage, suspension/infotainment…. Not possible for me just because those bike are not comparable. As well as take a sporster add saddlebags, windshield and compare This as well.

    If you add the same or similar combination of lights like the new cvo's,make the bags the same size and put a pipe on each side instead of the dual, this bike would be sick. of course, this is my opinion based on my taste. 😂

    • @MattLaidlaw
      @MattLaidlaw  Рік тому

      The bags have been a common complaint of people. So you’d run a pipe on each side? Then change the lighting to look like the CVO road glide?

    • @juliozapata5032
      @juliozapata5032 Рік тому

      @@MattLaidlaw maybe not the pipes on each side, but for sure the screaming eagle high exhaust system and it would look sicker with a similar light combination like the road glide cvo.
      just because I want a road glide cvo but I can't offer it 😕. What do you think about the the new green for 2024?

    I like the bike but hate the crappy dash. Looks like some cheap 1990's lcd display on an expensive bike. Why not put the Pan America TFT display?

    I disagree with some of the eval of ST over S. I have a 2022 FXLRS in Gunship Grey. I have Thrashin mini boards shift arm, peg and bags, a Memphis Warrior fairing and recently added a seat and tall sissy bar to hold my duffle bag. I'm a hair over 6 feet and I'm also 60. I clocked over 6500 miles in 2023 in N Maine in all kinds of weather and terrain. My FXLRS setup is comfortable, I have plenty of storage and the mini boards allow me to shift my feet back and forth. Although I like the fairing on the ST, I hate the plastic bags and the speedo is ridiculous, the classic round S gauge is much better. Save the $3K and dial in an FXLRS instead.

      Agreed completely, and if you decide you want the fairing, then get the AdvanBlack fairing. It’s nicer than the stock fairing anyways.
