I remember meeting a female I dated for two years thinking a relationship would help but in a lot of ways it didn't take away the inner pain and emptiness I felt in side. It's like Ray is saying he had a point in his life where he felt empty and did everything to change it but nothing helped. I'm so happy where I am today mentally but these songs are also a reminder to me that it gets better if you keep you're head above the ground.
