    Adding extended 12 volt trail camera battery boxes to your game camera lineup can make your life much easier as a hunter. The extended battery life allows you to take the worry and risk of dead trail camera batteries off the table for extended periods of time...especially throughout hunting season when you need them the most. It also saves you money because most hunters replace internal camera batteries before they need to be changed because they don't want to run the risk of finding a dead trail camera when they return to the woods. There is nothing worse than checking your trail camera and the batteries when dead two weeks ago!
    When hunters begin to add more extended 12 volt battery packs to their trail camera lineup it becomes a hassle to charge each individual battery overnight with a 12 volt charger. If you have several trail camera batteries this can take a while and sometime days! For this reason I created a parallel trail camera charging train. This wiring harness jig allows a hunter to charge all their trail camera batteries (@ 12volts) at once in a short period of time. This is much more convenient than charging them one by one.
    You can follow my example in this video to create your own parallel trail camera charging train using 12 gauge wire, some female spade ends, a couple alligator clips, and a few black ties.

      That’s great to hear! Does your pictures have an info bar at the bottom that tells you the battery level? That way you know how much battery you have left without having to go check. Good luck!

      swamp squirrel Hi there! I run mostly Browning Strikeforce as my main cameras...best I’ve found. I do run a couple cheap brands but not happy with them. I will replace them with Brownings when I can. Thanks for watching!!!

    Another great video! What did you have the car charger plugged into? Generator? Do you run any with DIY solar panels?

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  6 років тому

      Twindadx2 I had the car charger plugged into a 110 outlet at my shed. I run 2 other DIY solar cameras where the solar panel plugs directly into the camera with a 12volt regulator installed. I love them! They run on solar during the day and switch to internal batteries at night. I could add solar to all these battery boxes but it would get a little pricey and this jig makes it quick and painless to recharge. What use to take me days to recharge now only takes 1 night! Thanks for watching brother!

    Thank you for this video. The female disconnects appear to have a dual end where the 12 gauge wire goes in. Cannot seem to find them at Ace. Would you either have a link or a description for them? Thanks.

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  5 років тому

      Stephen Knable Hi Stephen, the connectors don’t have a dual in. I just pushed them both in and crimped. Here’s the original connectors that I used but I they are no longer available. You should be able to find plenty other 10-12ga connectors that you can use on Amazon. Let me know if that helps. I need a battery charger with multiple amp settings, any you’d recommend? All the Noco stuff on Amazon appears to be fixed amps, not variable

      I hear ya. Mine is old school with the little slide switch…lol. Hard to find them now. You may want to try walmart or an auto parts store to see if they still carry the old school kind. Let me know what you find.

    • @jefferymorgan8135
      @jefferymorgan8135 2 дні тому

      I wish I looked at the lifepo4 battery's before I invested in the standard 12V ! Lol. I know the lithium's are the future of 12V now. So you can't charge lithium the same way ?

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  17 годин тому

      No because a LifePo4 smart battery charger needs specific feedback from charging state of each battery and doing multiple would confuse it and possibly not charge right. You could try it and see it may work due to the BMSs preventing overcharge and shutting off the battery, then the charger power is likely to continue with the others until all are charged and shut off…not sure.

    Nice vid! I'm looking for a set up like this. I have one external battery and my cable is getting chew up by racoons and squirrels. Was wondering if its possible to mount the battery on a tree closer to the camera?

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  5 років тому +1

      I buy the big spikes at Home Depot and tap them into the tree close to the camera. I then hang the box on it and it holds the weight well. For protecting the cable you can put that plastic speaker wire tubing over it to help for a while. If you want to fix it forever use some metal flex tubing. Thanks for watching! Good luck!

    • @quiet-wolf

      Also, most trail cam says 6v battery but I see most people use 12v battery. Does it matter? Thanks

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  5 років тому +1

      Most of my cameras are 12 volts so it’s easy to match up a 12 volt battery. If your camera is 6volts you can use a 12 volt battery if you install a 6volt inline regulator. Otherwise you can match it up with a 6volt external battery. Just don’t plug a 12v battery into your 6 volt camera or youll burn it up quickly. Hope that helps.

    • @TheHandyHunter

      These were out about 8 months before I recharged them. You can go shorter or longer. I’ve gotten a year before but it’s healthier for the battery to charge it more often.

    How many photos can you get from this setup?. I use my cameras more for security than hunting. I have my cameras set up on 10sec delay with 2 photos. Each camera could easily take 100 photos a day. I don't know if thats alot of photos or not compared to what you may get from your setup

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  Рік тому +1

      100 photos a day is a lot but you should still get months of use before needing a recharge with a battery this size. Hope that helps.

    It's me again. Do you have to take off the wire going from the camera to the battery, before attaching the wires for the tester? That's what it looked like you were doing.

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  5 років тому

      Yeah, in this case I wanted to test each individual battery so I disconnected all wiring first. Hope that helps!

      @@TheHandyHunter But you could test it without disconnecting?

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  5 років тому +1

      Sure, if you just have one cam connected to one battery you don’t need to disconnect. I only disconnected in the video to see the level of each battery. Hope that helps.

    How do you run the cable out of the ammo box to the camera to where it’s waterproof?

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  2 роки тому

      I take a razor blade and notch the lip of the box so the cord lays perfectly and tight when the lid is closed. These boxes aren’t waterproof so be careful where you put them. Hope that helps.

    Good morning, how long do 12V batteries last without charging, and how many photos and videos can you take without having to recharge the battery?

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  11 місяців тому

      It totally depends on the amp hours of the battery and the draw of the camera. These bigger batteries like 12ah will last 6-12 months usually. I just had a 12ah LifePo4 battery last 7 months on a busy camera. Hope that helps.

    • @TheHandyHunter
      @TheHandyHunter  6 років тому

      David Irwin Hi David, I cut a little notch the size of the wire in the rim on the hindge end of the box. I cut it to fit the wire perfectly so it lays flat when the lid is close. Always seems to work for me. You could use a grommet if you wanted but I really see no need for it. Good luck and God Bless!
