Great observation Frank. Another offensive coach that you have to put on notice is the offensive coordinator. We have missed Golesh! Thanks Frank. Go Vols!!
Good job Frank!! Good luck Squirrel ,he gave his all for the big orange. We might need to look at some coaching changes but I don’t see that happening.
We have little to no motion our biggest stategy is to line up as far as you can to the sideline well erybody done figured that out we need some fresh ideas in our playcallin
I think Chase McGrath came from USC as well. USC transfers helped seal the win against bama in '22 with the Bru catch and the knuckle ball heard round the world from Chase. Go Vols!!!!
Oh my gosh! How do I forget Chase McGrath?! Yes, that USC connection end the Bama streak. Two Vol legends at this point. These USC transfers have been great for us.
@GBOkylebeach865 We'll be saying the same thing another 4 years from now ! Bama & Florida are gonna be back ! Where's the up tempo offense that everyone talked about ??
Love the dude, he has played / suffered through injuries to play for the Big Orange, but TBH I think we could replace him with a more productive guy. Wish him the best. THANK YOU Squirrel!!!!
The portal has ruined college football, no player commits and honors that commitment anymore. To be honest Squrrel didn’t show up this year against top competition
He never lived up to the hype last season, if we are going to upgrade from 3 stars, we need to make room for blue chips. Squirrel was probably wanting more money, & I would rather see them spend it elsewhere. If it is the difference in keeping Mathews who showed the most WANT when the ball is in the air all season. Squirrel never really developed & sometimes players max their potential. Great Vid Frank, keep em rolling! GB🍊
You and I seem to be thinking the same on this. I would imagine it was a money deal. I doubt the staff wanted to lose him, but I wonder if it come down to paying Squirrel or paying Brazzell.
My educated guess on this is that the staff didn't want to lose him, but they had to decide who to pay and who not pay. I could be wrong, but this seems like a situation similar McDonald from last year.
Missing on Wingo, Cardale, Burden, etc. has been a real problem. Mathews was the first elite receiver Huepel hit on. They’re freeing up NIL money for a portal move.
You're spot on. To me, it's a shame they didn't play Matthews more. I agree on the NIL money. I think something big will happen at either the WR or RB spot. Preferably, WR.
I agree, but I don't know that it gets under control while all of these teams are still a part of the NCAA. When these teams break away, that's when you'll see it get properly legislated.
I really don't think we've lost anyone as of yet that's irreplaceable. There are a few that I wish would have stayed, but we haven't lost any game changers as of yet.
They have to do a better job of identifying and developing their high school talent. Travis Smith, Jr. and Radarious Jackson better be ready to go next year.
Squirrel was one of those instant fan favorites.. Guess thats why it does sting a little.. I love pulling for the underdogs Nick Reveiz, Will Brooks, Squirrel White Ollie lane, Dayne Davis and the list goes on, of the underdog heroes weve had at Tennessee.. It stinks and i blame the portal.. 😂 The portal was created by the TV powers that be, to get more views for lesser teams when our favorite players transfer.. We are Vol fans sometimes petty and selfish 😂 we watch our Vols and nothing else.. its difficult to pick a new favorite player to pull for every season.. but theres a will brooks out there somewhere.. GBO!!
I think they have to hit the portal, but they also need to do a better job of identifying and developing their high school recruits. They better have Smith and Jackson ready to go next year, especially since both are early enrollees.
Let Squirrel go damn he's decent but not so good we should be talking doom and gloom hell he has not really been anything special and I thank boo is taking his spot.
I don’t care. If Squirrel White doesn’t want to be a Vol, bye. He missed too many balls thrown his way. His after catch yardage is horrible. This is just an opportunity to upgrade.
I think he takes a big step, too. Honestly, a part of me wonders if a lot of these guys weren't encouraged to look at their options. To me, it's a room that needs a reboot badly.
Based on the portal rankings on On3, I don't know who there is to get outside of Branch. Literally all of the top ones other than Branch are committed. Maybe some more go in before the portal closes.
I think that he hit the point when he was talking about the play calling. I’ve noticed the change in play calling from Hooker to Milton and now with Nico. I think that Heupel has gotten way to basic with his play calling now I know that Milton wasn’t no Henson Hooker so I can see why he had to change it up with him and had to rely more on the run and those sideline passes but Nico is supposed to be this high 5 stare so Heupel should have to water down his play calling with him like he did with Milton. He should be comfortable opening up the playbook just like he did with Hooker. Let Nico play.
And to your point, Heupel said right before the season that the playbook would be wide open for Nico. He was partially right. It was open until SEC play started.
I like Squirrel but it is best that he moves on. UT needs better players to compete with national title contender. You can have 3-star Will Howard throw to 5-star Jeremiah Smith. You cannot have 5-star Nico throwing to 3-star Squirrel White. We all saw that Saturday night against Ohio State.
Losing Squirrel isn't a big deal to me he never really did live up to the hype. I know he struggled with injuries during his time here & have a few highlights but, overall he was a let down. We're losing too many WR's to the portal I don't doubt Heupel is probably already in talks with WR transfers but, losing as many as we did it kinda worries me.
Did he finish a game this season sorry but this is sec football you have got to be durable and be able to withstand punishment him being in and out of the lineup all year this year hurt us developing other people
We all would have probably wanted him to stay but these changes over the last few years have ruined the game. As far as Mr. White... im not sure if i seen him make... or try to make a catch all season without Jumping in the air.... it was odd.
I really don't think we've had any major losses, though. The key is going to be getting the early enrollee freshmen ready, and adding playmakers in the portal.
@TheHouseofOrangeTN I am concerned about the entire program and the lack of development in several positions. Still starting Pruitt's guys was alarming. These guys have not developed 1 offensive lineman or a receiver that they have recruited out of high school in 4 years. Pathetic.
It's valid concerns and it's something that's going to have to change in a hurry. We're going to have to have guys that were recruited to Tennessee out of high school step up next year or we're in big trouble. They're not going to have a choice at WR or on the OL, but to have a high portion of their recruits step up.
Great observation Frank. Another offensive coach that you have to put on notice is the offensive coordinator. We have missed Golesh! Thanks Frank. Go Vols!!

kind of crazy I haven't heard anything about Branch since he hit the portal and he's a really good receiver
