John Ward is the Gold Standard for sports announcers. I’m 90 years old and I’ll never hear anyone who could reach his level but I think Mike Keith is the very best choice for now and he in his own right Great and I’m so glad he is on board.

I'm 50 and I've been a Tennessee fan since 1980 and for a good chunk of my earlier years only a couple of Tennessee games were on TV. So listening to John Ward was how I was able to follow the VOLS. I love that he brought up Johnny Darden in this interview. Coach Darden was one of my favorite teachers of all time and that was years before I knew he was such a legend at Tennessee.

No offense to Bob Kesling but he came in right after John left and you can't fill those shoes. I remember Mike from when he was in Knoxville working at WBIR and WIVK and I always liked his voice. I’ve never been a pick the home team guy, I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and got into football around 12 between 98 and 2000. I picked the Titans because I liked the movie remember the Titans. Shortly after I picked them I fell hard for them and there is nothing they could do to ever make me pick someone else. All I have known is this man’s voice this whole time and it feels like losing a close friend. But I just realised I now have a reason to pick a team. Just like the Titans it’s not your typical reason but also just like the Titans the fandom will become %100 real. Can’t wait to start watching the Volunteers now and learn everything I can about them. Thank you Mike, for all you gave us Titans fans and helping me finally pick a college team.

I wanted Mike years ago when Kesling was chosen. I always felt Mike had more emotion in his voice and was a superior sportscaster to Kesling who always seemed dull and flat to me. Mike always had energy and spirit to his broadcasts and that has been proven in his tenure with the Titans for the past 26 years. Glad Mike's finally received the job he was made for!

In my opinion, Jon Ward's best call concerned the "throwin Samoan". John declared "He is amphibious". I was very young, but I got it. I still use that line today when someone shows the ability to do some action with either hand. I remember when watching an event on TV it was rare to listen to the TV commentator. If the choice came down to watching an event on TV with the TV Commentary, or just listening to John Ward on the radio. The majority of my family would always choose the Radio.
