By the age of 12 he was getting so sick so often I realized I was being selfish trying to keep him with us. I have a female ginger cat, she is very discrete with her affections, but intelligent. I remember the look on her face the day she realised that I understod what she was trying to tell me 😄
Food please 😄 I was in my comfy chair with the feet up and she was sitting on the floor and just slightly tuched my leg with her paw, no miawing or anything.
Found a orange kitten in the neighbors yard last November and he has quite the personality. I named him Jihadi because he is a terror to the 3 older cats we have in the house.
I have a ginger cat that we adopted and she is the most lovable cat. At night she runs between my husband and I to share her love. She’ll sit on my lap and purr and rub her face on yours and then she’ll run over to my husband for some time and do the same. She does this as long as we are up. She is always doing something to make us smile and laugh she just lifts your spirits. We just love her. ❤
I like marmalade to describe orange cats because the jam looks stripey like the cats. Also our childhood cat was named Marmalade. He was an orange and white mackerel tabby. But he was grouchy.
I too had a ginger male who crossed the Rainbow Bridge before Christmas, he passed away under the Christmas tree his favourite spot. He was adopted before Christmas 2016, he made my many days special with his daily routines. He patted me when he wanted treats and play time, he was very independent who didn’t want to be cuddled. He started lying in my lap when he became sick knowing that he wasn’t going to be with me. He had a thyroid issue and eventually lost his appetite where he lost weight. His name was Gallagher (Goo) to family and friends. His urn is on a shelf next to my husband’s urn.
I used to have three orange tabbies who were brothers. One had the blotched swirl pattern (Peanut), mackerel (Nacho) and ticked (Rascal). Now I have a orange mackerel tabby named Chester. He likes stomach rubs which most cats usually don't.
We have a dilute ginger female cat. She has very faint tabby marking on her legs only. She was a rescued orphan feral kitten and had orange tabby brother and sister and a gray tabby girl. She has the mouth freckles noted in this video, and we asked our vet about it - thinking the worst. You know? Thank you for agreeing with our vet it was nothing serious! In my 50+ years of being owned by a cat, she is our first ginger and definitely has a different personality!
I had never owned an orange tabby in all 34 years I’ve had cats until 2 years ago when my Burmese mix died after having him for 10 years, leaving his twin brother from the same litter behind. I didn’t plan on getting another cat, but his death happened so suddenly and the brother was lost without another cat around in the house. There was a stray that so happened to become available through a mutual friend that took it in and raised it for a bit around their dogs. A sweet little orange tabby. He was so small, scrawny, very dirty, eyes were matted a lot. He didn’t let anyone really fool with him to clean him, so he just hung around their dogs for the most part (which licked and cleaned on him). I took him home, gave him a gentle bath, got rid of any fleas he maybe had, took him to the vet, got shots, antibiotics, and got him neutered… and let him rest in a room I sectioned off just for him so my other cat could get used to his new scent first. After a few days, I let him out, and he was instantly taking to our cat. I had never been my older cat be so affectionate and caring, but he took to this little orange tabby instantly - always wanting to clean him, protect him, and would sleep with him often (which he rarely even did with his own brother). I knew this cat was special when even he immediately took to him, and my cat has always disliked other cats coming around. He was just so lonely. This orange tabby was a bit strange, though. He never meows. Ever. When he does, it’s very very faint and sounds more like air … his box was damaged from an infection from what vets believe, so we accepted we’ll never hear him meow. He lightly purrs and will do a very light hiss, but his way of communicating is probably the cutest damn thing … He wags and shakes his tail. Almost like a dog. When he wants to show affection, he licks me like a dog and even does very gentle love bites to get my attention (like my shins - he’ll “bite” my pant leg and gentle paw at me while shaking his tail real quick to signal he wants picked up, to which I will and he’ll then lick my face). He’s the sweetest ever, but he’s like a dog’s soul trapped in a cat’s body. He plays fetch, enjoys his treats, rolls over for belly rubs, and will sit up and wag his tail when excited. About a month ago, I was awoken around 4am to him running along the hardwood floor and jumping up the wall (I have carpet tacked to the wall that leads up to their homemade shelf area). I thought someone was in the house until I heard the faintest little meow ever … he got so excited playing that he actually meowed. I jumped straight out of bed yelling “oh my god hunny I just heard him meow!” - you’d think we were watching a baby walk for the first time lol. I am so glad I have this little fuzzy orange furball in my life. He’s been the best anxiety kicker when home and has been such a ray of sunshine to our lives with his affection. He has completely turned me to orange tabbies as a whole to where I want another some day lol.
My orange tabby, Ozzy, is 20. She is still in good health and so sweet. Do to her age she is a bit senile but still loving and the favorite of my other cats! They all groom her and protect her!
One fun fact about me: I met and petted the original Morris at a cat show I was volunteering at in Santa Monica, CA. I was a girl scout and our troop got the "fun" job of cleaning the showing cages between judging. Whee, what fun😂! Morris was a super cool and relaxed cat.
Thank you for the information in the video. It was very nice and comforting to talk about the different varieties of cats. Yesterday, I lost a beautiful friend, my American Orange Tabby, but I was with him until the very end, and he passed away peacefully in my arms.😢
I currently have one black cat, one brown mackeral tabby, and one orange mackeral tabby. The two tabbies are brothers, 3 month's old, rescued from a roadside. The black cat is 12 years old and queen of the house.
My cat is a ginger. The litter was 6 kittens. All were female but him. Only one of them was NOT a ginger. So that litter had 4 female gingers and 1 male ginger. The other one was a gray tabby with some orange in it. She was also the runt who I had to hand feed.
@@TheKittyCatnipin my experience both males and females are affectionate, but my male cats have been more consistently affectionate. Eg ALWAYS cuddly, not just in certain moods
I found the fact that all orange cats are tabies most interesting. My ginger cat, Snickerdoodle passed away at 16 a couple of years ago so I can't really look closely at his coat pattern now. I didn't think he was a tabby but I'll take your word for it and look more closely at his pictures. The important thing tho is he was much loved 😍🐈. Thanks for the ginger cat info!
@@TheKittyCatnip Yes , I got a brother and sister pair of kittens 😸😍♥ about 3 months after I lost my sweet Snickerdoodle. They will be two in December and their names are Hugs 🤗 and 😘 Kisses. They're a blessing for sure-LOVE them so much! Thanks for asking. 😊😻😽
My ginger cat (Mr. Apples) is HUGE but very sweet. He refuses to use a litter box & prefers spending his time outside but he just dropped in to say "haiyaaa" to all of his ginger cousins ❤
I had an Orange girl tip of tail was white so warm n loving now I have an Orange Boy tip of tail white All my fur babies r Rescues love all of them no matter what color they r I enjoy this channel u provide great info
My ginger Wishbone is so freaking awesome, he's affectionate and possessive of me reading his 2 brothers. He's also purrfectly symmetrical in coloring.
I have two female orange tabbies, siblings. one is orange and white (Ava) and one classic all striped orange (Jezebel). They are very sweet natured little souls who like and trust everyone. I adopted them at just 18 days old. They're six years old now. I love them dearly and they love me. I'm sooooooo glad I have them. They're wonderful companion animals. Orange tabbies are the best.
I specifically was looking for an orange female tabby and I was lucky. I found one at the local humane society. She definitely has an attitude compared to the other two (they're solid black) but she doesn't have a typical orange cat attitude.
I have been fortunate to have had 2 ginger cats own me. I've also had 2 black cats and a tuxedo cat. Each has had their own personality and ways of dealing with their human. The gingers seemed to be much larger and hardier felines and were very loving and patient. The Tuxedo was a lunatic and the 2 blacks work together with the goal (I think) of making me crazy. I love dogs as well but I'm getting to old to keep up with them. My cats have all been easy to care for..
I adopted Wilder on my 49th birthday from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab UT. Wilder is as ornery as they come. I love him anyway. He likes to attack Clemons. But he snuggles with Edgar, his oldest brother. Wilder is now 9 months old. Crazy, crazy, crazy!
My orange tabby, Oscar, would lick my hand every time I petted him. I loved that. He did that in the animal shelter when I was there looking for a kitty to adopt, and he got his forever home because he licked my hand, and he did it every since. I had him for twelve years.
My ginger kitty and I watched this vid together. I've also heard that orange cats originated in Egypt. The people bred them there in honor of the Sun God, Ra and to represent him. I was also told that male orange cats tend to be food obsessed which makes them easier to train. I know my ginger kitty is totally obsessed w/ food and seems to be hungry all of the time.
I've got a beautiful gray tabby girl. She's feral so she can have....umm..tude. lol. But two years ago I was also blessed with my big orange boy. I've always had females so he was my first male. He's been such a delightful addition to my house. He's so gentle and friendly. He's huge (about the size of a 2 year old human) but I can say he's such a sweet boy. I take him out on walks and he gets excited to see the kids nearby. If you stop paying attention to him you're going to get a paw yet the claws are never out. He will gently run a paw on your arm or leg. I'm getting him trained as a therapy cat so I can take him to nursing homes or the children's hospital
My wife and I have 2 orange tabbies that are brother and sister, named them Fred & Ginger. They were kittens from a litter next door and wandered into our yard, so we just scooped them up and kept them. I can say that they are the most aggressive out of the 7 we have, Ginger is the real troublemaker that likes to smack around our mini Tuxedo Zoey when she’s minding her own business, or sleeping, but they are also the most affectionate, especially Fred, they are both very smart and also very talkative, and we wouldn’t give anything for any of them. If you’ve never owned a cat, then get a kitten, and I promise it will change you
Awwwww, hee hee! I had a striped male cat (Kitty), a dotted female (Dotty), and played with a friendly swirl-bummed tabby kitten...all orange! Dotty had some orange tabbies of her own, with a striped one, striped with white all on his bottom half, and torbie!
The contrast between the two orange cats we've had in my neighborhood is dramatic. One was nasty and violent (most likely because he was left to fend for himself by his master who didn't seem to care one bit for his well-being) and the other would scurry along the road with its tail up high in excitement to cuddle and get petted. Quite sad how bad pet-owners negatively influence their cat's life.
I have an orange cat who used to be skinny and sweet but now he observes in typical orange cat behavior by anger, avoiding, running, scratching and hiding.
My ginger tabby has the tabby pattern all over with the signature “M” on the forehead. He has some stripes but is mostly covered with dark orange spots. He is, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful gingers I’ve ever seen. What makes him so special is that he has a very curly tail. It’s like he has a spring in his tail! He also has very long legs which makes him very tall. He walks like a runway model and has the strut down to a science. He definitely knows how to walk the catwalk. I’m wondering if there’s anyone else out there who has a ginger with a super curly tail? I love all cats and the wonderful uniqueness of each one! ❤❤🐈🧡🧡
I would be interested to hear personality differences. We have had 2 ginger kitties and I swear they seem to have a sense of humor. They have both been much smarter too than our other regular tabby. Could just be my imagination.
My cat is part ginger and part white but all love. I've had several cats in my life and this is my first ginger and also the most affectionate cat I've had. My cat also has diabetes and my vet said gingers are more likely to develop diabetes than other cats.
My cat Raymond is a classic ginger tabby with no patches. He's affectionate, vocal and rather needy. I'm not sure if those things are characteristic of gingers, or just chance, but he's a people cat for sure.
Which of these orange tabby facts did you find the most interesting? 🐈🧡
Wish you would have mentioned eye color variations. My tabby has green eyes. Most cats have yellow eyes?
So does that make a Mackerel car a Mack Tabby…
I’ll show myself out.

We had a ginger cat named Smuffy. He lived 13 years before we got him his funeral.
I had an Orange girl tip of tail was white so warm n loving now I have an Orange Boy tip of tail white All my fur babies r Rescues love all of them no matter what color they r I enjoy this channel u provide great info
I have a big orange tabby. He's so affectionate and nosey lol
Same here. Very affectionate, but also has to follow me around and poke his nose into everything that's going on
I had a ginger ninja, he was extremely violent towards dogs.
Whoa how big was he?😊
you check that behavior with a Vet?
"I had a solid orange cat, so they do exist! that was a cool cat!
My ginger Wishbone is so freaking awesome, he's affectionate and possessive of me reading his 2 brothers. He's also purrfectly symmetrical in coloring.
Love this video since I do have a 9 year old Ginger/orange & white tabby cat 😻😹😸😺🥰😊😍
My cat had a sort of calico pattern. Basically, he was a ginger with a pattern similar to his moms.
My female ginger tabby is a beauty 😍
what's your favorite thing about her?
My orange boy plays hard and sleeps hard. He’s always derping.
They are charming and very loving.
I specifically was looking for an orange female tabby and I was lucky. I found one at the local humane society. She definitely has an attitude compared to the other two (they're solid black) but she doesn't have a typical orange cat attitude.
We had a beautiful, sweet and smart ginger tabby named Butterscotch. He’s the only cat I’ve had that would fetch.
Ginger and butterscotch 😊
My orange tabby, Oscar, would lick my hand every time I petted him. I loved that. He did that in the animal shelter when I was there looking for a kitty to adopt, and he got his forever home because he licked my hand, and he did it every since. I had him for twelve years.
I had a ginger cat named Tiger. l cried for a week when he died.
I have a tabby cat but with a brown coat she is the biggest cuddle bug out of my two cats
You forgot to mention famous fictional ginger cats such as Garfield and the cat in Stray video game !
As mentioned in that section, those are just a few of many famous gingers! 🧡
Sci-Fi fans are shouting "Jones!" the "star" of the first two "Alien" films.@@ThePurringJournal
i Love cats.
Orange tabby cats remind me of "Sam The Cat" from "Looney Tunes"!! He would always say: "EEEEYEEEE... HEY SYLVESTER... NYUCKYUCK... EEEEYEEEE..."!!
our gaara boy 🧡
A Street Cat named Bob was the ultimate ginger cat..! He changed his owners life, got him off drugs and starred in his own book and movies..!❤
I have a female orange tabby and she is adorable thank you for helping me learn more facts about my cat
Oh yes, thanks for all the cat facts, very interesting!
My favourite cat (I've had three), was a ginger cat... I generally refer to them as "Gingiepusses" and they're the most well-adjusted of their species
LOL why that name?
Proud mamma of an orange lad. He is currently standing on top of his puzzle box 'one orange brain cell' style. He is the sweetest goober.
oww, how old your cat is?
@@TheKittyCatnip Somewhere around a year and a half or two? Ex-stray so we don't have an exact age on him.
My orange pumpkin is a HOLY MACREL Tabby. She's 15yrs old and going strong.
If you’ve never owned a cat, then get a kitten, and I promise it will change you
👁❤️ The Purring Journal!
I have a ginger cat. I had no idea about all the info you shared. Thanks.
i hope can be the cat of the week.
My orange tabby is almost 2 years old now. I did not have him cut, so he's a full male and a sweet cat, not what I expected.
Absolutely lovely 💕💕
what you loved most?
Our ginger princess pumpkin is so special
I have had three male orange tabbies & two female orange tabbies & two torries & two calicos.❤😊
My ginger cat his name was Pootie. He was so loving and sweet, affectionate, and so darn smart!
What?
No Heathcliff for a mention of famous cat of the Tabby version.
Love orange tabby’s!
Thank you I’m about to get one
Ginger orange cat cool
Great job!
As a orange tabby owner i can agree orange cat behavior is real
Thanks for the info on the freckels, now this mama can relax! My boy has them on his lips and around his eyes.
Don't forget Fat Freddy's cat.
I would be interested to hear personality differences. We have had 2 ginger kitties and I swear they seem to have a sense of humor. They have both been much smarter too than our other regular tabby. Could just be my imagination.
My ginger tabby seemed very intelligent… my regular tabby either isn’t as clever, or doesn’t care to show it 🤣
@@wpc456cpw haha exactly! We arent sure if our regular tabby isn’t smart or just doesn’t care! 😂
Im watching this as my orange cat digs in the trash.😂❤❤❤
My ginger Tabby is 1.5 Siamese. He acts like a guard dog! Lmao❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the fun facts! I have a female orange tabby and named her Ginger! 🙂
Aww so sweet' I love all kitties but ginger cats are my favorite ❤
