I've always wanted to do a modern laptop comparison! I wanted to see what would be the best use cases for these new Creator Laptops. What do you think, would you get a lot out of the second screen or the Dial?
I would get a lot more out of the second screen
BURN-IN BURN-IN BURN-IN keep that screen retaining, permanent lines and logos, raw deal!
I don't think there is a point in either the dial or the second screen to be honest. The dial is ok, but if you use a mouse , this feature is already there in the roller anyways . The second screen is also a gimmick. Its too small to make much of a difference, while it crams the space and makes the keyboard and trackpad difficult to use. A much better option would be to simply get a 13-15 inch external display. The biggest dealbreakers are that both of these laptops have terrible glossy screens and that they are also not very powerful. But anyways, I guess its just a paid promo review.

Hey! I just watch one of your videos posted about Razer Blade 16 laptop, are you still using that laptop by the way?
2500? That's how much money I made last year 😭
Always coming through with the recommendations!! 🔥
Been watching tons of videos on these laptops and really enjoyed watching yours. Helped me finally make my decision
Thank you! You did the best comparison I have seen online so far between the two laptops specifically for creative professionals. I totally agree with combining the two with those extra features!
The video is so high quality i remembering asking questions on instagram so happy this vid is finally out
Loved the format of the review. It flowed very nicely. Im excited to finally see display port 2.0 making it into the wild.
Wooo! Love the content! Wish there were laptops when I was going through college. Great review!
The two screens on the zenbook looks so cool!
Thank you for the heads up on the my next laptop purchase
Been looking forward to this one (I'm the one who asked about the Kensington lock, because I'm always paranoid about getting up for a minute only to come back and find my laptop gone)! Super great comparison, and I'd love to see more of these types of videos for us 3D animators and artists. Thanks Sir Wade!
I wanted the 2nd gen Zenbook Duo, ordered it the day it launched, and got a call from the retailer two weeks later saying they were all sold out. Same happened for the next four laptops, trying different retailers... The 2020 semiconductor shortage was taking no prisoners. I ended up securing a GE76 Raider, so I'm good for a while, but - like you - I'm super happy these laptops exist and am keeping up with reviews like these for when I'm ready to upgrade. 💕
Even though I have both, I like them for both reasons! I would say do desktop by default, unless you have some circumstance that says otherwise. Remoting in is always a possibility- but when I’m not animating having a VJ laptop is amazing. A laptop that can run visuals for edm raves :3
I totally agree on the combining the two with those extra features. I really hope they do that. Keep in mind you can also max out the pro art's power for $5k, so would out-perform the zen? I'm waiting for January when they drop their next creation. Fingers crossed we get some hybrid action.
Thank you for sticking with it and making this video! Great info and I’m currently in the market for a laptop/desktop! Did you say streaming was viable on both as well?
Yoooo thanks so much man!
Perfect timing!! 👏✨✨
What divine timing! I just bought a laptop a couple days ago and could still potentially return it, this gives me some great additional input to consider thank you. Do you ever use a laptop with your kbm switch and one or both of your desktops out of curiosity? I’m planning on using mine like another monitor/additional setup. Thanks Sir Wade! Appreciate you and your content greatly.
I have the Asus ProArt 16 and I absolutely love it. It is a great work station and I agree the three button mouse pad is fantastic! The wheel has taken some getting used to. I didn’t know you could create custom keys as you mentioned so I will be updating my workflow tonight!
Love your videos. Keep it going!
If you still see this comment: How is it doing one year later? I've heard many experiences where those Asus Laptops quickly start malfunctioning just once the warranty is over. How's it been for you?
I’m also rly curious how it’s holding up for you!
@@awakenedcrowl
The Asus ProArt is still the best laptop have ever had! It performs great while running Unreal Engine 5 or Unity, while simultaneously having Photoshop and the internet going. I also have a Wacom Cintiq connected to the ProArt at the same time and everything works perfectly. The wheel and three button trackpad are great and make working a breeze even without a mouse.
@@Natalie_5126see my response to @awakenedcrowl
@@alexanderobrien I have no doubt that they work great - I was really just wondering about... HOW LONG they work. Since sadly, there seem to be expetionally many reports of them only lasting short times
You killed me the fan sound hahaha
This was a great video. I’m looking to get the art pro studiobook. Your video is just making me want to get it more. One question. Have you tried using the stylus on the trackpad? Asus promotes it but I haven’t seen or read anyone talk about if it’s any good. Good job on the video. I really want to get my hands on it.
Fantastic comparison thanks a bunch! Any thoughts on the ConceptD 7 Ezel?
For anyone considering to by the one with 3 button track pad don't use the track pad only or just get a mouse because if you use the track pad for about a hour your hand will start to Hurt
Thanks so much 🙏🏽
I love the two screen video
Hey there good sir Wade. Question, do you still stream on Twitch? I've checked your channel and could see VODs from 3 years ago so was wondering :))
The fan performance cut lol!
The zenbook pro duo looks cool.
That second screen is very usefull for blender
Every time iam working on an animation with my 15 inch laptop , i feel the screen is too small for my workflow , soo ithink a second screen can be very good for putting on timeline or video sequencer or like keyframes etc..
But one thing i want to know is that blender on Default settings use the native screen resolution in viewport to show u the thing ur working on and i feel like if u have 2 4k displays that are working together at the same time in a 3D app can really put some streess to the GPU and power consumption , and potentionaly Speeds up the FANS ???
Out of curiosity, why do you like 3 button trackpad? I've always found gestures like using two fingers to orbit/zoom/pan to work well
Nice comparison. Which apps did you use in this video?
all through the video in my head I was fantasising about them fusing and the clip of Goku Vegeta in my head and then suddenly boom sir said the same haha
Wow nice video on laptops
Here's some engagement because this video was very helpful
Would you recommend this over a Razer for blender and rendering?
How are the batteries? My Asus gaming laptop is almost useless without being plugged in. Can you do any type of creative work on them while on battery?
Can you make a video showing the M1 pro/M1 max laptops with Maya?
5:20 can you turn it into the actual numpad? Blender for example is very short key heavy, and many of them are in the numpad. My whole workflow will slow down if i have to click on the buttons in the software instead.
Hi Wade thanks for your video! I AM 3D AND CG worker, do you think 3080ti is better than RTX a3000 ada? I would like to buy proart 2023, not sure is it worth or not
not sure if you still check the comments on this video but can you please do a video on oleds vs ips panels for 3d animation? i would love to use an oled display for its wide color gamut and clarity and i know games will look beautiful on it, but im so worried about burn-in due to static elements in applications like maya that ive really only been looking at ips displays to avoid that risk. ive seen some people mention they use oleds for productivity and play but i would love to hear your take on it, as well
To anyone reading this comment - can you please recommend a laptop for someone that wants to explore all parts of development? I'm already working on web dev but I want to explore everything like Android dev, game dev, ai ml, ds, cybersecurity. I also want to explore digital art 3d modelling rendering software like blender. Are there any laptops under INR 70k? Also is it better to buy online or offline? I'm extremely confused with so many laptops options, can you recommend what laptop model would be great?
I'm looking a system for my sibling...confused to go with M3 Max to burn the pocket but relax for long time or go with these fancy creator laptops to stay in budet.
Mr wade I really wish I could switch to Maya because from my experience it is more optimized for handling large scenes, but I don't know whenever I try switching to Maya I always fall back to blender, I understand this reason being I started with blender and am a pro user , is it really possible to make a total switch please I need help I love Maya just used to doing things the blender way , 🙏🙏🙏
What are your pcs Sir Wade
I got the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX Hexadeca-Core-Prozessor 4090 GTX Duo 16 version of this and it is insane I hate trackpads so it's amazing for me. I'm using it for Blender, Unreal 5, zbrush and video editing, and the dual screens makes it a dream machine. I'm basicly making a game with this laptop.
That's amazing I'm considering it has a super high level i9 and 32gb of ram but only a 3050ti would this be enough for running maya, 3dmax and stuff?
Wade..! Why, oh why didn't you mention / test the proart trackpad's functionality as a stylus input? 😩 Great comparison otherwise!
that being able to use the third button on the proart for navigating 3D software is massive
Something I do really like about blender on my macbook pro is that the trackpad can be used for everything aside from increasing movement speed while piloting the camera
hey dude, how is blender on mackbook? peope usually advise to stay away from mac. the rendering times are like 10 times longer than with the 3070-3080 nvidia cards, but other than that, how is viewport performance? Also, have you used unreal engine 5?
@@batmanonholiday4477 not used UE5 at all but blenders performance has been really good for me. significantly slower than my desktop but not by 10x although I am running the top spec M1 max
earlier this year blender got apple metal support meaning that it can actually take advantage of the GPU for all rendering
Viewport performance has been really smooth for the most part and for final renders if my RTX 3080 desktop takes like 30 seconds for a single frame the macbook takes like 40-50 usually
for JUST 3D work I definitely would go for a windows machine but for all I am doing the macbook performs really well
@@Grady_Oconnell wow interesting report, thats going to make me reconsider macbook.. im impressed with their power efficiency, wish they get more optimisation soon
@@batmanonholiday4477 I will say though that MAYA and Houdini with their render engines cannot use apple gpus and you can absolutely get a better laptop for 3D for 6000nzd which is also after my uni student discount
Got an update on this with the new laptops of 2023? I'm shopping with a new one replacing my 10 year old one. haha
Great video Sir wade, always loved Asus's laptops, had three of them. But I got the opportunity to get an Alienware M15 r5 ryzen last year when I started animation mentor. Now I'm questioning my judgement because I wish this had a pen/touchscreen to draw on.
man just buy an external drawing tablet, it will be infinitely better.
@@batmanonholiday4477 but you cant have 2 screens then
How do these laptops compare to an Apple Macbook Pro M1?
Been waiting for this video since i saw the ig live! The zenbook looks tightt
fan speed video is awesome🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
try asus flow x16?
I like the one with the dial but I have to say, even for on the road stuff, that pen enabled touchpad seems gimmicky. I'd probably still opt for a small Wacom One tablet.
Did he talk about it? I really want to know if using the track pad digitizer is any good. At least in a pinch.
I’ve been looking for a solid upgrade that would last me years down the line. I really wanted to see how the laptops handled UE5 because I’ve been told laptops with 3080 would be optimal. What are your thoughts?
Anything with a 20xx rtx or newer with over 6gb of VRAM is more than usable. Just get a cooling pad and change out the thermal paste after the worenty expires
don't send him any money it's a catfish
I so want this laptop but i’ll still use a mouse with it.
How about unreal engine 5?
Beware I have a laptop with an etc 3070 and a Ryzen 5900hx and it struggles with heavier scenes quite a bit.
I'm currently saving up for a desktop computer.
hey, how big are your scenes and do you think the mobile 3080ti will handle that? considering it has 16 gb Vram
For me buying a pc is better since the pc can be a work horse for 3d designers like me but laptops can’t handle the workload aswell as the pc’s although they’re getting better
I hope you Do a challenge and give away the ZenBook.
The old laptop jet engine joke
As much as these laptops look amazing, the real killer for me is drivers. Either one requires the company to support these oddball features, and from my experience they work for about a year, at least they work well for about a year. Not to mention supporting alternative operating systems, that pen that runs off microsoft's drivers is just not going to work on linux. The gimmicks are cool and all but it's not worth the laptop carrying dead weight 4-5 years later.
yeah absolutely. its just a marketing gimmick in my opinion. although with asus duo, the screen lifting up also creates the opening for ventilation and better cooling. Quite nice idea actually, its just that second screen is quite rubbish and not worth it.
Everyone don't go through the notification you received on short listed giveaway there is a catfish.
Are the comments still there? I thought I got them all
@@SirWade looks like you got them all, can't believe that I catfished for $200.
actually, there's one on LetterL's post
G502 GANG
The most annoying thing is whenever blender brings a new update they add new stupid features that we already had a way of doing for example ( hair🙄 ) is like the whole community decided to blind themselves on the view port performance few thousands vertices and you get a slow fps
Can I please have one sir 😟
Lol
Seeking HELP!
I'm looking for a productive and good-performing laptop as I mostly do video editing(⚠4k compatibility without choppy playback) and music production (⚠audio quality without choppy and glitchy while using various VST plugins that take high CPU load). As of now ✅Asus Zenbook Duo and ✅Macbook Air M2. Please suggest one of these two.
seam like overprice and useless, good if you can waste money. too fancy and pricey.
