I do like how Orison is very clean, calm and bright. Also, since you are already there you don't have to suffer Crusader's advertising media campaign that blasts on New Babbage that just says "Try Orison city in the clouds" on a constant loop.
Orison, the city in the clouds, has been my home port for almost 2 years. Great tour for new players. 👍 Edit: you can get your personal hangar instead of docking by having a smaller ship in the Polaris hangar and calling ATC from the smaller ship.
Thats a great tip! still have to run all the way back to the hanger then back to the seat =P might be faster getting impounded. But still great!!! tip!
I like the fact that there are a lot of intertextual references in Star Citizen, like Orison, the city in clouds, which is an obvious reference to Bespin in Empire Strikes Back.
I'm not that much of a veteran citizen, but not very new either. Back in May I tried out the free flight and my buddy just told me to choose A18 because it was starter-friendly (apparently). Don't know, I get lost there every time. So I went on to a little adventure, exploring the other major cities for potential new main residence. Lorville was cool and central, but there are no personal weapons. New Babbage is what I liked most and chose to be my main residence ever since - you can land directly near the commons and go shopping, bypassing the transit system completely. The hangars are nice, the planet has a surface, you can get most of the nice stuff at NB and I find the general layout the least confusing. But when I arrived at the so well-advertised legendary city in the clouds (clooouds), I decided that I will buy my game package. Orison didn't get my pick for main residence, but it is such a pleasant experience going there. Any time of day it's breathtaking. Every time I visit Orison, I'm like on a little space vacation. But my choice was and will probably stay grounded and practical with New Babbage. NB is my reliable daily driver and Orison is the nice rental convertible on a tropical island where you don't have any work on your mind anyway.
One big thing I don't like about the starting locations are they are so large. I prefer living/starting on space stations, to me they are more convenient.
I think what bothers me more is that they are big with no reason to be visited. There is nothing a city offers currently that a space station doesn't aside from certain ship parts or buying a new ship at ND or AA. They need to be more central locations for business and everyday gameplay.
My first trip to Orison ended with me falling through a gap in the floor in the cargo area while looking for Cousin Crow's. It did not leave me with the best first impression of the City in the Clouds!
32:38 you forgot to mention that all landing zone spaceports like Orison, the city in the clouds, have a bright flashing indicator light to make them easier to spot.
I love the vibe of the city in the clouds and I have to admit Orison has the best club and view. I often go there an chill in the club dreaming one day it will be full of people
I love the city in the clouds, but I am going to choose Lorville to go along with the feeling of being poor after the wipe with only a Cutter to my name.
As a new player to Star Citizen, Orison, the city in the clouds, was the first landscape that genuinely made me stop in my tracks and just take in the scenery. After touring the Crusader Showroom, I was even more in awe at the sheer scope of the technology and infrastructure required to build the largest ships in the 'verse, in the atmosphere of a gas giant.
Orison city in the clouds has been one my top pick for a home for long time now. The veiws of the planet leaving and when the space whale are in will be amazing
One of the issues I've run into on the City in the Clouds is if you are playing with someone who doesn't have the greatest rig while playing, the Skyway shuttles don't always render. Additionally the spawn platform is a restricted area so you can't just go fly over there, land and pick them up for whatever adventure you are headed out on.
I tried to rewind searching for the "cons" about Ground Vehicles at Orison. For pulling out and loading Ground vehicles, we now use Personal Hangars, but Orison and Area18 (A18) prevented that until now. The related issue is pulling out successive ships. New Babbage is the ideal for this. And of course, now, Personal Hangars. Finally, the DISTANCE to the Stanton/Pyro Jump Point is a new and important consideration.
I used orision the city in the clouds a lot when i flew a bigger ship and where not used to it , so i dont crash on the ground and had the option to fly right or left when i missed my landing hangar . but always had problems to find the spaceport
When they first released Orison, the city in the clouds, to us, I had a hard time finding the landing zone. Eventually though, I just started seeing it. It is hard to explain, but the spaceport just looks different from everything else, most of the other platform connections are longer straight lines, where the spaceport is more crooked lines. . People would say, look for the spider, and I never really found out why they would say look for the spider.
Nice video of the City in the Clouds. I used to stay at New Babbage when I was a newbee, but found my FPS too low. I've been staying in Orison the majority of my 3yrs playing. I'm glad I watched the video because I forgot all about Cousin Crows and the whole cloudview platform.
Crusader’s been my spawn point since 3.18. Lots of bounty mission around the asteroids of Yela, and Cousin Crows in Orison, the city in the clouds, has all the Military spec components. I noticed that the lift up to the rooftop club in the Stratus building stopped working a few patches back
Orison, the beautiful city in the clouds, is a fantastic place to call home. I always set my spawn to a nearby station to keep from the long ride to atmo.
Funny thing is I always pick area 18 then fly to the space station above the city in the clouds. Seraphim is always my 2nd home. Nothing but illegal missions🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑.
I've been a long time New Babbagen and while I love scenic Microtech, I'm growing weary of the constant apex predator attacks (disguised as elevator and hangar doors). You may have convinced me to move to the city in the clouds.
Orison has been my go to starting location mostly due to the fact that you could buy many great ship components there. Being a beautiful city in the clouds doesn't hurt either.
Landing at Orison was the hardest as a new player. I had to watch a damn video 😂 at night it's easy head to the giant flashing beacons they added. During the day the light beacon is hard to see. 30:20 well at least I am not the only one that struggles with the city in the clouds.😂
i used to start in Arc Corp, but i think i may move to Orison cause Siege of Orison is my favorite event. clashing on dif platforms in the city in the clouds is the best
the city in the clouds is probably the most beautiful place to live imo, but as long as the elevator can still bug out, going to avoid it next time, when the hanger elevators break, orison is probably the hardest to get out of, im thinking lorville for my next playthrough, also love the groundd access
thx. will watch the other episodes soon. I like the layout of NB more and don't like the the city in the clouds that much, mostly because of exactly that big heavy slowing athmosphere. You had a point of a home planet having the majority of the systems you wanna buy for your ships. dunno if this is orison for me... it is however just one fleet insurance away visiting any location ;)
Orison. A Nice Place to be and to settle down for Peacfull Chilling Moments before Hitting The Dark Verse. This very Nice Peacefull City in the clouds, allways makes you want to come Home.
You know who will be good to put in your co pilot seat while your flying though the city in the clouds ? Your trusty star whale Finley! Only available at an Orison Spaceport near you.
The City In The Clouds is wonderful place to start. Having the ability to buy guns, ammo, armor, food, drinks, and even SCU containers without having to go to the spaceport is amazing. Not to mention Grim Hex is so close.
I'm torn between the city in the clouds and the city in the snow for 4.0. I've found the hauling missions in microtech/new babbage to be pretty good and, but with 4.0 Orison is so much closer to the jump point and more haulage/cargo runs... The joy of choice 😂
I love Orison. It has the best hangers and is close to all the best game play loops. The time to take to leave atmo was changed during 3.18 i think so its not bad at all. Its always a toss up each patch between New Babbage and here. Babbage usually wins out just because if the Hangers glitch out I can usually find a ship to get me off planet either at the commons or outside the space port. My home for 1.0 will be Castra however for now the City in the Clouds will work.
I really like Kel-To in the city in the clouds! Personally, I would much rather live out of Grim Hex or Seraphim if it was an option but Chris said no.
I used New Babbage as home for several patches, it's nice to have all the shops handy between NB and Port Tressler. That said, I found the trams at NB to be horrible... and the innovative intercom announcements get old very quickly. I swapped to Orison as it's close to most of what I was doing at the time (Yela is/was great for both mining and salvage, and there are plenty of bunker missions nearby) while still having good shopping options. I really like Orison. Lorville and Area18 are both a little too dystopian for my tastes. Plus, Orison and NB are the only two places that have the Aeroview hangars, which IMHO look better than SELF-LAND. SELF-LAND is fine for stations, but for your home personal hangar... you want it to be nice, no? The only downsides are that Crusader is HUGE... (meaning it takes a long time to fly around) and there are a few glitches with where Seraphim is stationed. Specifically, QT to Seraphim doesn't actually take you there, you need to do a second jump of about 900kms... and you can't directly travel to Orison from Seraphim, you need to either fly down to the planet in SCM for a while before it pops up on the map, or you need to QT to an OM, then to Orison. "City in the Clouds" is a catchy slogan.
As for spaceports, I started playing before they added in the spaceport marker lights. None of them were easy to find for new players. Orison was described as resembling a water-strider/spider, but I always confused it with the residential area until I got it through my head that the residential area has circular extremity points, and the spaceport has rectangular. Once I had that down it was easier. All a moot point now that there is a beacon light at the spaceport. (New Babbage was a little easier to learn, since it's the red lights on the hill, with a straight line of lights to the city center... but as you said, not helpful in bad weather.)
I always start in the city in the clouds. Might pick something other than Orison in 4.0 though, as you can start at a space station in Pyro, and stations tend to be quicker and run smoother.
@Astro_Mani weird! But also not my primary concern. What I'm worried about is where I go when I set my spawn point in a Polaris that then gets blown up with me inside it. Not sure I want to go all the way back to Orison, and get stuck navigating out of there.
By day she shines like a silver star, By night, like fireflies in a jar, Crusader's Pride, Where dreams collide, The fairest city in the clouds by far.
Orison just takes too long to reach because of the time you need to travel in atmosphere, with all the added timesinks it's just too much to bear. The best base is your own ship with a Nursa inside, makes it easy to evade most frustrating errors/features. 2nd best option is the station orbiting the main planet of the system e.g. Tressler, Baijini, ... I avoid the main hubs at all cost, because they are crazy timesinks and sometimes you get stuck forever because of elevator/hangar door errors. I already hate it, when I have to go there to buy components, because I don't know whether or not I can make it or it's just wasted time for nothing.
I wonder what would happen if the thrusters of a city in the clouds went offline for some reason-would it glide or would it fall down? do anyone try reaching planet center
When they first added Orison, it used to absolutely tank my FPS, enough that I never went there for any reason. But nowadays I have a smoother experience there than I do at any other home city Id prefer Lorville just because the City is nice to look at from the air, and its the most central home city in Stanton, but I no longer get above 14-15 client fps and Im not that big a fan of the Self/Land Hangars.
i feel like the idea of a city in the clouds is realy nice but for me orison is kinda hard to navigate that being an ironic take as i want to start in hursten in 4.0 lol
I wonder what the lore accurate taxes for the residents of the city in the clouds? I can't imagine it would be cheap.. how else would they be able to keep the city afloat? Where do they get water? Lol. I could go down a rabbit hole here.
This so called "City in the clouds" reminds me of a similar cloud-bound city, on another Gas Giant, in a galaxy far, far away... Let's hope there's no traitorous friend here!
I don't know mate, living in a city in the clouds is not for me...Terra Firma underfoot is a must for me, that said, it's a beautiful place to visit. Good point about the high player traffic; being newer, i think I may be avoiding that until I stop plowing my ship into space stations and asteroids
Don't think i will ever go back to that city in the clouds... Yes i know they fixed the atmo thing but i fear i will get stuck in atmo, never reaching QT heights
I had so high hopes when orison got implemented but apart from the awesome view, which i never enjoy cause my pc can't handle the clouds, it doesn't feel like an actual living city in the clouds... Only showroom flair no actual living...
"The City in the clouds" god i cant hear that shit anymore every time im in a station some guys moaning at me and the comercial is going on about orison fucking hate it now everytime im there i hear it like 3 times pisses me off

The City in the clouds is my favourite location too, I’ve spent countless hours just walking around and enjoying the view.
beautiful

@robopenguin5501 that would be really neat. Making citys more important. Which they have mentioned before
My first trip to Orison ended with me falling through a gap in the floor in the cargo area while looking for Cousin Crow's. It did not leave me with the best first impression of the City in the Clouds!
When orison was first in I literally could even spawn there as it crashed my pc hard. The clouds now are stunning.
32:38 you forgot to mention that all landing zone spaceports like Orison, the city in the clouds, have a bright flashing indicator light to make them easier to spot.
I usually take Área 18. But i will give a shot to that city in the clouds
stay tune for the rest of the cities later this week
I love the vibe of the city in the clouds and I have to admit Orison has the best club and view. I often go there an chill in the club dreaming one day it will be full of people

Ok, the first time I logged into Star citizen, I chose Orison, the City in the clouds. You are right very easy to get around.
I gotta agree with lando - a city in the clouds is a pretty sweet place to call home.
I remember my first time flying into the city in the clouds and couldn’t find the spaceport. Took me half an hour of flying around to find it. lol.
It can be a bit disorienting at first.
Orison city in the clouds has been one my top pick for a home for long time now. The veiws of the planet leaving and when the space whale are in will be amazing

true, but orsion has gotten better on performance especially compared to babbage
With the pink trees and it being the city in the clouds, my daughters always make me set my home to Orison
That’s a great point, the jump point distance is an important factor.
I appreciate that the city in the clouds has cousin crows, which is awesome… but I hate looking for the spaceport every time I have to go back.
I mostly started at the city in the clouds, but lately at Area18. It is just so handy :D love it.
I used orision the city in the clouds a lot when i flew a bigger ship and where not used to it , so i dont crash on the ground and had the option to fly right or left when i missed my landing hangar . but always had problems to find the spaceport

The first time I played I made my home in the city of the clouds but I fell in love with New Babbage and have been there ever since.
Haven't had an Orison tram break on live since 3.18! It's great on fps too, always super smooth at the city in the clouds.
Nice, the performance has been great on Orison.
I love the look of Crusader's city in the clouds, aesthetically pleasing. But the daytime landing is really bright.
Nice video of the City in the Clouds. I used to stay at New Babbage when I was a newbee, but found my FPS too low. I've been staying in Orison the majority of my 3yrs playing. I'm glad I watched the video because I forgot all about Cousin Crows and the whole cloudview platform.
good stuff, fly safe out there
In earlier SC versions, Orison, CIty in the Clouds, used to take FOREVER to leave the atmosphere, I think was fixed a while back, so thats good!
yes it did take a lot longer
Crusader’s been my spawn point since 3.18. Lots of bounty mission around the asteroids of Yela, and Cousin Crows in Orison, the city in the clouds, has all the Military spec components.
I noticed that the lift up to the rooftop club in the Stratus building stopped working a few patches back
Not in 4.0
That lift has been broken for a while, hoping they fix it soon! maybe it already is =P
Orison is a beautiful city. The city in the clouds always reminds me of Cloud City of Star Wars. But Orision is definatly the nicer place.
Orison reminds me of Cloud city from Star Wars, both have that city in the clouds feel.
A floating city in the clouds, Orison is easily the best city in Stanton. Love the lore of this place.
I love the vibe of the city in the clouds and I have to admit Orison has the best club
The city in the clouds, is a beauty of a starting area.
Orison, the City in the Clouds, is the one place you go to get most everything you need for ship system upgrades. Have ship, will travel.
Landing at Orison was the hardest as a new player. I had to watch a damn video 😂 at night it's easy head to the giant flashing beacons they added. During the day the light beacon is hard to see. 30:20 well at least I am not the only one that struggles with the city in the clouds.😂
always something when u do your vids in one take
i used to start in Arc Corp, but i think i may move to Orison cause Siege of Orison is my favorite event. clashing on dif platforms in the city in the clouds is the best
City in the clouds is nice, and has gotten better since they reduced the atmo, but Hoth at home NB is where I’ll be keeping my clones on ice.
the city in the clouds is probably the most beautiful place to live imo, but as long as the elevator can still bug out, going to avoid it next time, when the hanger elevators break, orison is probably the hardest to get out of, im thinking lorville for my next playthrough, also love the groundd access

Somewhere... far below the beautiful clouds is a trove of ships that missed the platforms.... R.I.P.
Dreams of a city in the clouds inspire visions of life beyond Stanton.
Nothing says futuristic space game like having an entire city in the clouds. It's so frickin cool! Not as cool as your videos though! ❤
Although the city in the clouds is nice, I prefer the look of Loriville. Great coverage of Orison btw.
The City In The Clouds is wonderful place to start. Having the ability to buy guns, ammo, armor, food, drinks, and even SCU containers without having to go to the spaceport is amazing. Not to mention Grim Hex is so close.
@@williamreinhart7453 lol grim
I'm torn between the city in the clouds and the city in the snow for 4.0. I've found the hauling missions in microtech/new babbage to be pretty good and, but with 4.0 Orison is so much closer to the jump point and more haulage/cargo runs...
The joy of choice 😂
it is a hard choice
I love Orison. It has the best hangers and is close to all the best game play loops. The time to take to leave atmo was changed during 3.18 i think so its not bad at all. Its always a toss up each patch between New Babbage and here. My home for 1.0 will be Castra however for now the City in the Clouds will work.
oh ya ik it used to be way worse getting out of atmo
I've started in New Babbage every single reset. I'm a creature of habit. But maybe I should consider the city in the clouds next time..
Ah. The city in the clouds where Luke lost his hand? :) Orison so pretty.
after wiping, I will consider to choose Orison, city in the clouds, as home location
I always start in the city in the clouds. Might pick something other than Orison in 4.0 though, as you can start at a space station in Pyro, and stations tend to be quicker and run smoother.
it might not be that simple tho. you will not have a persistent hanger in pyro
@Astro_Mani weird! But also not my primary concern. What I'm worried about is where I go when I set my spawn point in a Polaris that then gets blown up with me inside it. Not sure I want to go all the way back to Orison, and get stuck navigating out of there.
By day she shines like a silver star,
By night, like fireflies in a jar,
Crusader's Pride,
Where dreams collide,
The fairest city in the clouds by far.
love it

spaceports all have that lighthouse, the super bright flashing white light, the city in the clouds is the easiest to spot
Great Vid! CITY IN THE CLOUDS!
City in the clouds for life!
I already hate it, when I have to go there to buy components, because I don't know whether or not I can make it or it's just wasted time for nothing.
good luck with the 7 k abos. good look everyone with the mighty one and only ship in orison the city of the clouds ;) greetings :)
I'm with you, I also start in the "city in the clouds".
“I saw… I saw a city in the clouds.” Luke Skywalker Empire Strikes Back.
lol killing it with quotes ^^
The city in the clouds has always been my home base
I love the impound trick. I should just start doing this rather then landing😂
The city of clouds is my home location too. best place.
I wonder what would happen if the thrusters of a city in the clouds went offline for some reason-would it glide or would it fall down? do anyone try reaching planet center
lol would be cool to see
Orison a city in the clouds This is what we dream about in our dreams
Orison def has come a long way from the old city in the clouds that I remember
When they first added Orison, it used to absolutely tank my FPS, enough that I never went there for any reason. But nowadays I have a smoother experience there than I do at
any other home city
Id prefer Lorville just because the City is nice to look at from the air, and its the most central home city in Stanton, but I no longer get above 14-15 client fps and Im not that big a fan of the Self/Land Hangars.
Seraphim Station is the best station because you do not hear the Visit Orison City in the Clouds ad.
The City in the Clouds, Orison looks great might just pick it for 4.0 anything thing is better then New Babbage evil elevators.
City in the clouds reminds me of Cloud City in Star Wars. Where is Lando!?
i feel like the idea of a city in the clouds is realy nice but for me orison is kinda hard to navigate that being an ironic take as i want to start in hursten in 4.0 lol
I wonder what the lore accurate taxes for the residents of the city in the clouds? I can't imagine it would be cheap.. how else would they be able to keep the city afloat? Where do they get water? Lol. I could go down a rabbit hole here.
lol that is interesting
"Orison city in the clouds" its really cool but Area 18 its my to go home base for now
Welcome to Orison, the city in the clouds
This so called "City in the clouds" reminds me of a similar cloud-bound city, on another Gas Giant, in a galaxy far, far away... Let's hope there's no traitorous friend here!
lol lets hope
I don't know mate, living in a city in the clouds is not for me...Terra Firma underfoot is a must for me, that said, it's a beautiful place to visit. Good point about the high player traffic; being newer, i think I may be avoiding that until I stop plowing my ship into space stations and asteroids
lmao very fair point
dreaming of a city in the clouds
i prefer the seraphim station as the city in the clouds is very time consuming
I love orson the cherry blossoms of the city of the clouds, byut i alway start lori cause its in the middle of everything
OK one downside of the city in the clouds that I didn't hear: you can trip and fall off the platform and fall to your death. Just a minor downside!
Don't think i will ever go back to that city in the clouds... Yes i know they fixed the atmo thing but i fear i will get stuck in atmo, never reaching QT heights
Will start in crusader due to Vaughn missions
I had so high hopes when orison got implemented but apart from the awesome view, which i never enjoy cause my pc can't handle the clouds, it doesn't feel like an actual living city in the clouds... Only showroom flair no actual living...
Orison, city in the clouds, is that the keywords?
Orison is the prettiest city in the clouds there is --

Do not start at A18 unless you like broken lifts and hangar delays. Everyone will be going there.
