@@andyrobin7196 Kripke, the executive producer, is the kind of writer who usually has a plan on how the show will go before producing it. It's been known for ages that supernatural was meant to run for 5 seasons but due to the writers strike and some issues with the cw, the show got extended far too much and he left after his intended story concluded. All of this to say I think the deal he made with amazon is different (at least in how much control he has) so it is a possibility that he'll end the show after, say, 5 seasons or so.
The thing that pisses me off about this scene is that The Boys regularly use hardware store weapons (lengths of pipe, bricks, construction tools) and they never break, despite both combatants being super-strong and super tough. A good example of this is when Payback was mostly destroyed, theres a scene where Mind-Droids helmet gets crushed by a brick from the same wall Payback burst through, instead of the brick disintegrating. Now here we see Maeve with something she could feasably use as a weapon, if it was forged strong enough. Vought certainly could make it happen. But no, the one object that is *intended for a supe* breaks on contact.
Tbf, was is not implied the Maeve hasn’t done any hero work since the plane incident? Vought probably switched the sword with a prop and gave it to some other hero that would actually do their job.
I feel you are forgetting several factors here. First off, the various construction tools being used are generally not hitting with enough force to break them, and most of the time they are hitting at angles that cause the force of the impact to be dispersed into the target rather than onto the tool, if the target was durable enough to not move from an extreme force impact like with homelander here then yea either it would break, bend, get knocked from your hands or your wrist would break, because at that point all of the force is deflected back onto the weapon. Breaking through a wall does not necessarily mean that a brick is harmless to you, mind droids helmet is likely not as durable as the combined force of a superhero teams strength. In the case of Maeve, her sword was a prop and even if it wasn't, chances are it would still break, swords aren't indestructible, that's just a common trope used in most media, specifically and ironically with Japanese swords to have a fancy fight scene, despite how a katana would not hold up in half of the fights they end up in.
Her sword was just prop created to give the impression that she was a warrior - the whole point of that scene was to illustrate just how badly prepared she was for a real conflict with another super-powered being: the “superheroes” of this world are not warriors so much as they are bullies and charlatans…
People dont understand that there is no heroes in the boys comics. Everyone is a villain, nobody is 100% good. The comics is basically sexy, violence, power and fear.
This is the problem I’ve had with The Boys is I get Homelander is supposed to be Superman but in this comic he’s just unstoppable, after a while it’s more annoying than fear
Superman is also supposed to be Unstoppable Force, but he is being nerfed down in later comics and show's. So in this comic panel Homelander 100% shown what Super Man is an should be.

I prefer the fight like that. The concept of evil Superman is basically "What would happen if a super powerful man were evil? We'd all be dead!" . From the moment that there is a being almost as strong as he is, the concept loses almost all appeal
I hated that the show made her out to be a hero, I can see the show becoming softer and more deus ex machina heavy for the "good guys". It just follows the tired trope that Wonder Woman gets the upper hand on Superman because he holds back his power. The show is better when it subverts tropes like when Homelander kills Supersonic, you don't even see his death on screen despite him having decent character development, but it seems the show is gonna nerf Homelander to appease all the fans of the show that hate the character.
i believe she threw the simp guy because homelander wouldn't let any survivors to tell the story so he was already dead, and she needed a 'distraction' to let the blonde girl flee. So she threw the simp guy, threw the blonde girl away so she could flee and went afterwards so he doesn't chase the girl.
I feel like this gonna happen because in the most recent episode of the boys in kumikos “sword fight” the “sword” snapped when it hit the dude and we can see queen maeve practicing with the sword. And in the new post of the boys throwing up 4s for the new season the actor for queen maeve isnt in it
The actress doesn't do social media. So it's not surprising she wasn't part of that pic. Maeve will die im sure, might be this season the way she is going.
yeah honestly have no idea why maev's idea of training for homelander is practice sword techniques. She'd have to know how useless that would be. Also just so I don't have to make a whole thread about this somewhere else....I cannot believe TV Stan Edgar doesn't seem to have an actual plan to deal with Homelander because the superficial stuff like trying to have him fined or holding his contract over his head. at least in the comics they had the whole black noir thing but vought tv version clearly has no plan for what to do if homelander just goes completely nuts. which is insane.
I know mega DC nerds will argue that WW should be able to beat Superman sometimes, but generally it seems like movie/comic culture can't quite figure out how it feels on that topic. Either he can beat all of his allies singlehandedly or they stand SOME chance even though he has the upperhand. I guess it's like three tropes to choose from and you choose whichever fits your story best. For the "Boys" universe, I think it makes the most sense to have Homelander be unstoppable, especially if it's going to really mean something when he goes down.
I curious as to how exactly this is gunna play out in the show. I can see her last moment being something like Starlight saving her from whatever Noir and Homelander did to her, and they both unfortunately come across him as they’re escaping-and a scene like this takes place.
In DC comics, Superman is stronger than nearly anyone, but he has a lot of restraint, so people like Wonder Woman can kick his ass most of the time. Homelander doesn't have restraint
wonder woman can kick his ass if he allows it.....People of dc universe is thankful that superman holds back all the time because he don't even want to hurt his enemy and is a nice guy.... If only superman had the moral code of homelander.......
Thing is, Supes without restraint (the Injustice comics, basically) is WEAKER than boy scout Superman who had to tango with superpowered threats on the regular due to refusing to kill them. It's quite poetic, honestly. Restraint makes you strong. Being unhinged makes you weak.

You misunderstood what Homelander was saying - what he was expressing was that the weapon (be it a real sword or not…) was being carried around by a “hero” to create the illusion of being a warrior: that this weapon was never intended to be used in combat against an actual super-powered being - just as the “warrior” wielding it was never intended to be put in a real fight. Would a real claymore sword or even katana be much more effective, given Homelanders invunerability? She would of been better off blinding him first, that way it becomes a more even fight. Then hobble him so he can't fly.
The only difference between a claymore and a katana is the katana would have shattered rather than broke.
Yes Applying some statue effect will male homelander more invulnerable to dmg,
Katanas are so overrated. They are very fragile compared to how they're portrayed in animes and game's. It would have shattered.
Both do their jobs well but against Homelander? Grab a crowbar, it will do the job better
Homelander isn't invulnerable. He's just really hard to wound. His clone was harmed by (a lot of) gunfire with piercing rounds. There's just so much a superhuman can take before being actually harmed.

not a chance, they're gonna drag the show out for 10 seasons and Maeve is gonna be a major character that entire time
@@andyrobin7196 I have heard that season 3 is the final season
@@GameZone-ib7eu I find that really hard to believe, its way too popular, getting multiple spinoffs, its gonna be the new walking dead
It looks like the sword slashed his face. Look at last few panels after she strikes him, there’s a slash over his eye.

Let’s not forget, the Deep and Starlight are the only remaining members of the 7

@@augustuzmoon3814 He only added the murder because he thought that a man getting Loony Tunes'd and splatered was funny. You might say it's about her being uncaring, pos etc. but I only see childish humor.
Impressive how you made this scene last more than 2 mins.

Man may have been a simp but he was brave I’ll give him that.
Oh my God, she threw the man at homelander , and she knew that he was going to die, and some still think that she died as a hero

The comic was so brutal and dark. I like the changes the show has made, while also keeping it close to the original storyline.
i believe she threw the simp guy because homelander wouldn't let any survivors to tell the story so he was already dead, and she needed a 'distraction' to let the blonde girl flee. So she threw the simp guy, threw the blonde girl away so she could flee and went afterwards so he doesn't chase the girl.
the way she launched her simp gotta be the funniest thing i saw in a comic
They forgot to put Fedora on his head
Once a simp, now a slinky.
@@natman2939 If homelander goes nuts the only person who can come close to him is Ryan which is probably gonna be the series finale scene

i mean she lost an eye
Who came out the worst? Even homelander being nerfed 💀
1:21 LOL that looks like she want throw Starlight next 🤣🤣🤣
Saved one person, killed another, truely neutral.
Homelander a legend lmao
@JESUS CHRIST gg 😂😂😂
Problem was in comic region she was just as problematic as homelander. Here in the TV series, she can redeem herself.
Being unhinged makes you weak.

if it was a metal prop but still left that mark, imagine if she had a real sword
In short, Homelander was calling Maeve a fraud - which she was.
