The main thing I liked about Raven's Flock was how they just used to sit in the front row, not caring about the chaos that was ensuing between WCW and the nWo. Despite usually losing they were popular and each had a character and traits of their own that made them stand out which would be something you wouldn't see today.

Honestly, Raven's Flock was one of the most interesting parts of WCW when I started watching. I started watching WCW a couple months before Starcade '97. WCW's midcard was absolutely crushing everything WWF had to offer, and Raven's Flock was a gigantic part of that. Raven was right in that the Flock was "The most over group that lost all their matches."
Yeah, they were a bunch of jobbers, but just think of the fates of those people after the Flock was gone, nearly all of them were not seen on TV after that.
I do think, though, that Kidman was a bit too confident for his level of skill. He's amazingly talented, but never did have the voice to be a main eventer as others said he always demanded to be. He sounded like a 14 year old kid out there when he finally was allowed to talk, obviously the reason why they kept him off the mic until that point.

Raven is so important to wrestling, and people who don't understand that statement clearly don't know the business. Raven has helped countless stars fully tap their potential and he is just a brainiac when it comes to connecting with the audience. I was like 8 when the Flock was on WCW, and I liked him without realizing how fantastic on the mic he was. The quotes and everything were just genius. Like Goldust's quotes in 95-96, just such an awesome approach to their characters

I have to say that when Scott Levy came to WCW as Raven in 1997,I foolishly believed that WCW would push him to the moon and back.I believed that his time in ECW gave him enough pull to become a top star in WCW this time around, but he still did very well considering that there were so many more well established top guys ahead of him.I will say that even with all of the incompetence and laziness of WCW booking, they still booked and presented Raven a lot better than the WWF did.

Having a great mind and booking several hours a week for a family friendly entertainment show are two different things. Yeah, you didn't say WWE, but I'm just saying....i don't think people think about how hard it would actually be to try writing 6-12 hours of fresh content on a weekly basis. Who knows... maybe Raven would be great and book the best shows we've ever seen every week for the next 15 years...but it's not like he can just wave his wand and make great shows just because he has a great mind for the business (which I totally agree with. I could listen to Raven's perspective of the business all day)

The Two Most Powerful WWE Factions In 1998 & 1999 Were The Corporation & The Nation Of Domination. Raven's Flock Can Rival Both. They Were More Powerful Than The Rest. They Lasted Longer Than The Ministry Of Darkness & Corporation & The CORPORATE MINISTRY. Them & Both NWO Factions Would've Took Over WWE In 1998. The WWE Corporation, Ministry Of Darkness & DX Couldn't Have Taken Over WCW. Noone Would See Them As A Threat To Superior WCW

Kidman scratching all the time and having the finisher 7 year itch, man I was great!! It really worked and was over. Not alot can win a fan over when they've only seen them have 1 match, I knew who the flock was cause they had been building it for awhile, the first I saw Kidman have a 1 on 1 match, can't remember if he won or lost (probably lost) but that didn't matter cause he won me over and was probably only a 4-6min match. But the character when done right just worked so well!!

    @pendafen7405 2 роки тому +5

Agree that the Flock should have been smaller, with deeper focused backstory on members. Still, the personnel worked in terms of character and image, despite what Raven insists. Raven may not have liked them, but all were over and made sense in the storyline. Imo an improvement would have limited the group to Saturn, Kidman & Riggs, and perhaps a female valet (similar to Lacey in ROH's Age of The Fall)--then *developing* these characters using longer promos & vignettes.

Anyone else think Scott has a real soft spot for Kidman? Raven isn't the most complimentary dude at the best of times, but he calls Billy "great/incredible talented" at least twice in this short clip and smiles to himself when he talks about him. Same to a lesser extent for Sickboy. It's really very sweet, which is not an adjective usually used to describe Raven.

Most people lament Sting vs the Undertaker never happened. Raven and the Flock attacking the Undertaker could have had some nice build up, too. Whoever commented on Raven being the Stalker instead of DDP would have fit that narrative perfectly, as well.

All the Flock members in general fit the criteria of the stable very well. With the exception of maybe Lodi, but I honestly think he was only put in to replace Raven's former lackey Stevie Richards when he left to go back to ECW. Horace Hogan too, he didn't need to be in the group either. All the others, however, fit in just fine IMO.

Raven's Flock and Raven himself should have been pushed and booked for the main events in WCW once 1997 had ended, the possibilities of the feuds are endless. In 1998 have the Wolfpac fight with the nWo but dont have them as the main event, that way it gives a new fresh story to roll with by having Raven's flock as the new big heels

I'll never forget the night my college roommates and I went to a WCW event in Erie, PA.....can't remember exactly what year but probably '98 or something. We were like 2nd row and Raven and his flock were there doing their thing where the flock sat ringside while Raven wrestled. Well, my roommate Sauce (typical short dude) is a little shit and he was in the aisle and on the gate talking so much shit to Kidman during Raven's match that dude actually broke character got up to come after him. Security grabbed my roommate immediately and kicked him out. We met up with him in the parking lot afterward. LOL. Great night. I never realized how tiny the ring was until I saw it live.

because of the wwe network I watched wcw from 97-99. I was a baby back then so I have 0 knowledge of wcw back then, when I was like 5 or so I knew Goldberg, hogan, and sting because they were so popular back then that you didn't need to be a fan to know them. so anyway I watched scotty Riggs when he was with ravens flock and had the whole eyepatch thing. I watched every episode so unless I missed something, I watched this dude Riggs lose every match for like 2yrs straight, I've seen a whole lot of jobbers in wrestling but I never seen a dude go on tv and lose that many matches consecutively, he was like the opposite of Goldberg. I think he should be inducted in the wwe hall of fame just for that incredible achievement alone.

It's kinda funny, in a way. Just coming up on Saturn's debut in WCW. Larry Zbyszko labeled Raven, Saturn, and I believe Sick Boy(Richards wasn't there that week). All Degenerates. This was also the same week HBK and HHH came up with the name Degeneration-X. To which the commentators called them degenerates.
If Eric was really telling the truth about Pillman. About him returning to WCW. After his stint in ECW...This would have been the way to do it. If he hadn't jumped to WWF, that is.
Him, Raven, Saturn, and Richards. Would have been pretty cool.
But, at the same time. Yeah, it would have been the same thing as with the NWO. Outsiders from a different organization invading.
