Turin, they don't harvest souls for Chaos. Not technically anyway. Lorewise, doomfire warlocks were Druuchi magicians cursed by Malekith to slowly lose their souls to Slaanesh. The only way for them to stave this off is to harvest strong souls and use them to rejuvenate their own. Chaos Worship ( including worshipping Slaanesh ) is forbidden by Malekith. ( Which is funny when you think about how hedonistic the Dark Elves are. )
caladbolgftw .fdafdagdagadg You're getting two distinct versions of the lore confused. In the latest edition (the 8th) every tie between Morathi and Slaanesh were retconned out of existence; this was the same time they introduced the expanded elven pantheon, which includes Atharti, goddes of pleasure and "substitute" patron of Morathi. In previous editions, most notably the 6th with Storm of Chaos, Morathi had plent dealings with Slaanesh, although her worship has always been highly instrumental and not born out of devotion. Malekith though has always been against open worship of Chaos, since he has taken up the aspect of Khaine and constantly tries to enforce his claim as Phoenix King, which is a position born out of antagonism against the Chaos gods. CA seems to take a lot from previous editions, although still sticking to the most updated version of the lore available when it adds something - a more than welcome mix for a lot of people.
+Pizzifrizzo That's true, but CA has clearly been picking and choosing which part of the lore they want to go with. The RoR is called Slaanesh's Harvesters for a reason, and Dark Elves in the game spread chaos corruption for a reason as well. Then again, I guess lore discussions are also irrelevant, since none of this actually exists anymore if you want to go with the latest lore. :(
They mix a bit from most recent and older editions to satisfy the tabletop players. It's definitely nice if you're a player of the older editions and see callbacks to it in game
Really gotta feel for that one executioner who keeps getting staggered backward 2 or 3 feet by each shot, and that gives the next guy enough time to line up a shot before he can walk back into combat... gets gunned down before he ever actually gets to kill one... F
So is it just me, or did the empire player just refuse to micro(spread out) his handgunners after the line collapsed? I feel like he just didn't even put effort into it.
Completely agree. His lack of micro made him lose. Just look for exemple at 6:32 He neted the two warlock horsemen and Malekith and didn't even shoot them while he had handguners at almost point blank range. He also should had focus more on the enemy cavalry. With 2 ligths wizards, 2 empire kinghts and all his handgunners it wouldn't have been too hard to do so and without the cavalry offline this would have been an easy win for the empire. Still it was a fun battle with an original army.
Yeah my micro wasn't great. But I wasn't 100% into this battle either, didn't believe it was actual Turin either. Now that I improved this build, it wouldn't be that easy to defeat.
The hellblaster is a lot hetter than ppl think, it's pretty similar to an organ gun. It will rip through infantry and cav. The problem has always been that it's range is so short and it can be hard to get a line of sight with it after the infantry fight starts. In my modded campaigns getting it's range up to 300-350 it becomes really strong. I think if they just upped the range it would see a lot of use
Trick is to place them slightly to the flank with a spearman unit, then have it wheel around a bit to flank the infantry fight. Easily countered by monsters but extremely useful in battles such as above.

Not gonna lie. That thumbnail got my full attention. Can't say anything else due to the 200 rounds per minute dispenser ejecting lead into my mouth and the shout to use bayonets. Unique builds too in a way. Liked.
The luminark is godly in certain situations. Problem is it's not got the utility to be useful in multiplayer, especially where players can dodge your shots. But in single player where money isn't as important, if you want a good lord sniper there is nothing better than a luminark. Just don't use it against cavalry, for some reason it toasts infantry and single entities, but cavalry always has a single model absorb all the damage.
Nick Dzink Yeah, that's the Templehoff Luminark. I've never actually used the nets on that thing, because they're so short ranged and the thing is supposed to be long range.
Can the Dwarfs pull off a build like this? Especially with the fact that their ranged units are a little more sturdy and they have a Master Engineer to buff and snipe.
sure, why not. probably be better at it. a line of quarrelers and maybe a unit or 2 of thunderers to deal with armor, organ guns/rock throwers in the middle, fill in the box with warriors/longbeards/etc whatever the heaviest infantry you can afford is. Plop down an engineer and lord doesn't really matter. Mow down the knife-ear'd fucks before they can even touch your lines..and unlike empire gunners dwarf ranged dont wilt like dainty flowers when/if they get engaged in melee
Russell Smith dwarf have not nets, and thunderer have less damage output than handgunners due to handgunners have a higher model count, it would be harder to pull off.
Tormentor Sword Thanes could do a decent stand in for Nets. Plus dwarven infantry is much higher quality than the Empire state troops, so the lower DPS isn't quite as worrying.
As dwarfs I've used a pretty similar strategy - but it's a multi layered checker board formation with as many thunderers and organ guns and cannons as I can muster. With about 5 miners with bombe and a slayer unit for tarpitting. DE infantry just crushed dwarf infantry so easily it's not worth it going toe to toe with them. And their mobility on balance is not great so I feel this is one match up where a last samurai build would work
Gelt was next to useless, maybe bringing him on foot just as a way to buff the handgunners and with the staff of Volans for those sweet winds of magic, plus getting one or two spears to cover the handgunners.
Actually found this build in a 2v2, just steam tanks instead of hellblasters. I was with a norsca wide build with throgg, so was pretty easy as I left the tanks for last and collapsed their whole line. Fast harassers work wonders, something equivalent to the ice wolves should counter if its well synchronized
Would love to see a build with the empire with the new changes. I think this one was too gun oriented to be viable. I think you could find a way to replace the old build with double Inquisition with those new Handgunners :p
I see what you mean about beefed up handgunners and artillery. Previous matches I've seen, those guys just get slaughtered by a single all-out charge, in this one, you only won because of superior tactics and even then you lost a lot of guys. Gunpowder really doesn't get enough respect in this game.
If he staggered his line infantry and spaced them out more it would be a different story. Another thing I like to do is not put them in long lines. Unlike in FOTS and earlier titles the gunners in WH can all fire at once, not just the front line. And many times it's beneficial to be able to rotate the unit as quickly as possible to deal with flankers and suchlike. The best way to do that is to put them in squares, which coincidentally helps defend against cav/monster charges (because there is more mass to punch through). As it happens I also do this with Dwarfs or any archers of any kind, because rotating on the spot is faster when they are in a compact group rather than a line.
For a mid game campaign dark elves army what's a good front line? I'm still not sure what is a good upgrade from bleak swords. Nor how sisters of slaughter and corsair really fit into the current roster.
Dude, I love what this player did. I think this build is awesome, but there are a few changes I would've made. First off, I would've brought the silver bullets. With all these elves having easy access to some form of physical resistance, ranged support that can bypass that would be very nice. Granted, they wouldn't have done much to Hellebron, I think it'd be nice to oppose the warlocks, or those high elf spearmen ROR. Secondly, I would maybe exchange one of those volley guns for maybe two units of flagellents. The objective with this kind of build is to let your guns deal as much damage as possible, and having maybe two unbreakable units would hold up the advance of the opposing army would help greatly. Lastly, I'd ditch the third wizard. I understand that it grants access to a second quick casting of the net and can grant additional magic generation, I think it's simply too much of an investment when you can easily buy more spears or flaggelents with that kind of money. I'd be cautious of using this against High Elves though, as their range will easily out do you unless you have some good artillery to oppose them.
Them too, yeah. Though I typically feel like their missile presence isn't quite as intense or uniform as the high elves. Maybe it simply has to do with the cavalry the empire can bring, and the fact that their archers cannot really defend themselves like the lothern sea guard or sisters of avelorn can. It means they're both, more vulnerable, and they require much more micro to handle well (particularly if you want to use the upper teir WE archers efficiently). I feel like wood elves are kinda in a weird place right now. Their skirmish options are now out done by the huge range of high elf skirmish options. Yeah, they got deepwood scouts, waywatchers and poison, but the high elves now have an AP archer which deals both magic and fire, the shadow warriors which are like deepwood scouts, and their archers can handle themselves in combat. I feel compelled to say that the wood elf roster should be expanded upon a bit, but I don't know what should be added or changed to fix the issue. Probably better melee stats for waywatchers to say the least, but otherwise, I don't know.
Dude, there is soooooo much elf shit with physical resistance. The sisters of the thorn and tree units from the wood elves, the hooker warriors and warlocks of the dark elves, and the pheonix guard, dragon princes and spearmen ROR for the high elves! Dude, it might even be better to bring a fire wizard to give their ammunition flaming magic damage, unless I'm mistaken in how that spell works.
I feel like if he replaced a couple handgunners with some flagellants to hold the line for a bit longer he might have been able to use it as a cushion to defeat cav
Nice job with the Doomfire Warlocks. Definitely won the match for you. I don’t get the two Light wizards. Not enough Winds of Magic to use them effectively. Would have been better off with additional melee to protect his ranged units.
I think he needed some magic damage for dealing with your physical resistance. Or maybe replace the empire knights with halberdiers (2 emp knights are 1800 where as 3 halberds would be 1900 I think, maybe pricing has changed)
When I had a regiment of skaven warplock Jezzails fire upon a regiment of Bret shield swordsman, 1 out of 4 times there is a chance the ones that got shot get back up
Empire army main weakness in this build is definitely cav. I'd get rid of a 1 hand gun and 1 cannon and either get some chaff or something to tie up heavier cav builds. Otherwise nice gameplay!
There are times the gunners shouldn´t retreat, if they retreat they will get caught and slaughtered. He should have sent one or two of his handgunners forward to take the brunt while still having support from the rest. That would also have kept his line had he not sent everything after your cavalry, very bad micro.
go use hellblasters in campaign, they honestly are on par with rocket batteries and don't give you friendly fire as often. they have no bonus to large but i found them more than adequate taking out mammoths with handgun support
Gun armies are a legit tactic in the Empire just in case people think its not lore friendly. The city of Nuln was very gun heavy. The Empire knights should be a lot better. They might have been the best knights in the game considering they have special armor.
If he had had a little more chaff like swordsman to muck up the front you could have been in some serious trouble. As it was he didn't have the micro or the meatshield to make the build actually work. Still interesting though.
I am always surprised people don't use artillery more. I mean you don't have to make an artillery heavy army but the utility of a little is always too much for me to pass up. It can even result in a little stamina advantage for your whole army if you make the enemy march as far as possible across a battlefield.
Do you think the pike and shot is more feasible against some factions now? I think you should develop this build, Turin, it might bump Empire's tier in the meta. With better micro, balancing (gelt and two mages were bad choices), and some way to deal with light cavs and hounds maybe you could pull it off.
I think a similar empire build just with only one or maybe two light wizards a few more spearmen with shields to hold the front line as well as a melee Lord like Boris might be very good now. Three mages are obviously too much and Gelt didn't get to do anything. Also the silver bullets would have been very helpful here circumventing the physical resistance of your Doomfire Warlocks. Can you try a build like this out for yourself Turin?
Gelt made nets possible, without him it's 2 nets tops, with Gelt I can pop 2 nets and pretty soon after that get a 3rd one. Remember you need overcast net to have aoe, otherwise it's just 1 unit.
Well this this was pretty funny . But aside from the lack of spliting his handgunners i would have bring stormrocket battery instead of hellblaster i tried it myself and i got some succes againgst HE or DE.
Hey Turin I just wanted to ask if you could do more battles against the dwarfs since i hardly see any from you, i find making army comps against them more difficult other than trying to contest their artillery, as always love your videos.
Chill wind + shades is malekith meta. Oh also you can put him in the front on foot with fat shield and can fight in melee he is a monster the killing is for the range units his just out to slow shit in the front.
This build might work better for dwarves, just throw some miners upfront and blast them to oblivion with organ guns and thunderers, it might work better
Can i get the Thumbnail? It's fantastic and at the same time really funny. I want to show it to a friend of mine who also like Warhammer. Cheers, good video too.

Nor how sisters of slaughter and corsair really fit into the current roster.
Considering Balthasar and Malekith are voiced by the same person and even sound very similar, this game provides an interesting confrontation.
You know good times are coming when you see that Gelt smiling at you. You don't see builds like that every day...
Hellebrons sword ability being broken is a known fact, they even stated so in the last patchnotes.
Gelt: "Malekith ? Well we need MOAR' DAKKA!"
Malekith on his velociraptor?!
What is this, Total War: Jurassic World? ;)
When I had a regiment of skaven warplock Jezzails fire upon a regiment of Bret shield swordsman, 1 out of 4 times there is a chance the ones that got shot get back up
I wonder about what Malekith was talking about with the Mage when going on a nice Walk with him. xD
Time to call in the Earthshakers, for the Emperor!
Empire army main weakness in this build is definitely cav. I'd get rid of a 1 hand gun and 1 cannon and either get some chaff or something to tie up heavier cav builds. Otherwise nice gameplay!
This is still the most beautiful thing I have seen in TWWH2 MP
Christ I got flashbacks to Empire TW watching this, only thing missing were wooden stakes surrounding his troops lol
Smiling Gelt always gets me
If he had had a little more chaff like swordsman to muck up the front you could have been in some serious trouble.
Gelt, the absolute madman
If he bring the renowned Luminark of Hish, he will have 2 net spell which absolutely brutal.
Sometimes in campaing I have a lord/hero on horse back trying to duel a lord/hero on foot and they end up just running around in circles around them
i love your thumb nails but this is just legendary
Don't bring a gun in a sword fight!
Well this this was pretty funny . But aside from the lack of spliting his handgunners i would have bring stormrocket battery instead of hellblaster i tried it myself and i got some succes againgst HE or DE.
Never send a human to make a Dwarf's box.
never underestimate the firepower of the empire and the might of guns you may had won it here but you will not be capable to do it twice.
Shouldn't Word of Pain with its -60% accuracy debuff stop your opponents build from working or does that just apply to arrows?
Hey Turin I just wanted to ask if you could do more battles against the dwarfs since i hardly see any from you, i find making army comps against them more difficult other than trying to contest their artillery, as always love your videos.
need a lot of cav to deal with that, in rome 2 you could surprise ur opponent with full skirmishing build as the infantry was always the meta
"Meat is back on the menu boyz.." haha! Respect
props to the empire player
Chill wind + shades is malekith meta. Oh also you can put him in the front on foot with fat shield and can fight in melee he is a monster the killing is for the range units his just out to slow shit in the front.
gelt was playing with the big boys now
Gelt is a completely psycho, mow down people by machine gun having a bright smile. I wonder what kind of toothpaste does he use.
buu Ho he just drinks a lot of coca cola to remove rust you know.
Is mutlipalyer popular in this game?
was ver fortunate that his guns got separated to the left away from the spears on the right.
Going to try Free Company Militia as a front line. See if it's better than swords.
Billy Sooner I tried it vs skaven and I think norsca too, they're nice but the lack of armor piercing is a serious issue for them.
If this is a possible tactic for Empire then surely the Dwarfs can employ this to even GREATER effect!
Triple caster meta. Just like good old days when you could spam volleys of Shem's Burning Gaze for the cost of one spell if casting was simultaneous.
Trying this tonight!!
If he wasn't asleep at the wheel with that cav engagement he coulda cleaned this up. Lettin the DE cav live was a fatal mistake
This build might work better for dwarves, just throw some miners upfront and blast them to oblivion with organ guns and thunderers, it might work better
As an NTW player if I played warhammer this would be the only way I would do it.
Can i get the Thumbnail? It's fantastic and at the same time really funny. I want to show it to a friend of mine who also like Warhammer.
Cheers, good video too.
This is why Empire isn't as bad as some make out. Semi useful troops who soak up the pressure while you smash the enemy with gunpowder and magic. I adore the Empire.
Others: I cast a Spell on you *Pew pew pew*
Empire: I cast a BLUNDERBUSS on you face! *BOOM!*
These are some very tall Dwarfs.
P.S. I love how every time Gelt is in a video, it's guaranteed that his stupid, smiling meme face will be on the thumbnail.
