This week, we’ve got video from our live FEEDBACK FRIDAY featuring scouring and mordanting. This week Botanical Colors’ Founder Kathy Hattori gave us the 101 on how to get color on our favorite fibers.
Kathy and Carrie took us through the very important basics of getting fibers clean (scouring) and ready for natural dyes (mordanting). As there are different processes for plant-based fibers and animal-based fibers, Kathy and Carrie walked us through both.

Read in a book that they use both calcium carbonate and bran bath after Al acetate (unless pre treated with tannin) for cellulose mordanting.
