1. Accidental ignition 2. For proper height adjustment because when filled the height tends to be higher and novices will have an easier time getting it to light correctly instead of thinking it doesn’t work. Lol. I do it especially if the ignition button is easily pressed once upside down to fill.
It does work. Y it keeps coming out n not refilling it full n i also empty it all out before puting it new to refilling it to see if i need it or not!! plz!..🙇🏻 do n a 🎥 about that y can i do to fully refilling it...
each time I try to refill any of my [cheap, basic garden-variety] lighters, it seems most of the butane coming out of the can is going straight outside the lighter :). I'm trying to place the can nozzle as perpendicular as possible to the bottom of the lighter, but most of the refill still goes outside the lighter, freezing my fingers :). What am I doing wrong? Should I be using some sort of an adapter vs. the bare metallic nozzle built into the can? Thanks
Some cheap lighters aren't refillable, but ones that are have different valve ends. It is important that you find matching atachment that goes on teh nozzle of refill can so it would match valve end. then you place can so that nozzle points downward and squeze both together. In order to fill lighter, both valves must be pressed to a certain depth (with a certain force) and they MUST be paralel/perpendicular ( if at angle, gas will escape). Only then will liquid butane flow and not spill.
@@Pukovnik141 All cheap lighters with a refill valve are refillable. That would be a defect, which is very rare. They are the easiest to fill as the valve is flat and no need to push it inside a hole. Advice: never use butane with a metal tip. You need a good seal and metal doesn’t work as well as a red plastic tip that seals with the gasket. Also use Newport butane or whip its to get quality adapters. You’ll never have a problem again as long as you purge first then apply pressure and release 3 times.
@@r60d23 Under pressure, butane gas becomes a liquid in the refill bottle and of course liquids don't flow uphill. Of course they could design the bottle so the pressure would drive the butane up a straw, but if they did it that way, then the refill bottle would have to positioned right side up and it would cost a little extra to make it. It makes more sense to save a little money per bottle since either way only a certain bottle orientation will work (right side up or upside down depending on the design).
yeah i didnt know about the turn the adjuster down part :p still doesnt seem to be going in though. and before all that i found my lighter/torch thing only ignites upside down, so thats cool i guess
You need to take something to push in the fill nozel on bottom of lighter. Keeping your had a little bit away from end of pushing tool away from lighter. Hold fill nozel in and flip lighter up right hold inward until lighter is empty. Then try refilling
I have an old table top, following instructions , it immediately leaked on top during the fill !? What do I do now please ?! Do I need to tighten up the little screw holding the top and bottom parts together a little bit ?! Please let me know if you would
why is it necessary to lower the flame adjuster all the way down on the fill valve? also if the lighter has a lever adjustment only or has both should the lever also be set on lowest or only the fill port?
Add a type B refill valve that you screw in, or try refilling through the flame valve if it’s adjustable. They both work almost exactly the same but the second way is harder until you know exactly what you are doing from experience. You have to turn up the valve flame to open it up enough to get it in.
+Carin Wender the video forgot to mention the most important thing: while refilling, get the bottle up and the lighter down, because the butane is in liquide form, so it was to be poured into the lighter

Hey guys! I have a tsubota pearl (pipe lighter) for like 5y now. When I refilled it, the lighter used to turned very cold. Now, it does not, the lighter stay warm and I have the feeling that the gaz isn't entering properly the tank. Ive done it every way i can find, on two different lighters, and both just sputter afterwards. If they flame at all its not long enough to even light a cig.
this is wrong you fill vertically not sideways , keep your gas canister upside down for a few minutes so that the propellant separating from the lower half liquid butane and only pushing in the liquid into the lighter tank and you don't pump hard ,you go slow to create a good seal and the butane will quietly and quickly flow like liquid so easily without cooling lighter or frosting it or sputtering , once it stops filling remove nozzle and then push back slowly to release the head space air and propellant from tank using a small tool like screwdriver or pen tip etc then proceed to fill as before and it will fill more butane liquid to perhaps 85% of capacity or possibly full tank , just repeat the steps to try and reach capacity if necessary
You can't use this type of fuel in Zippo lighters. You need the liquid squirt fuel. They sell it at Walmart at the cigarette register. It's a yellow bottle.
I've tried this many times with different butane cans and different lighters. Every single time it never works. The butane just sprays back and feezes the fuck out of my hand.

No. Gas stations are not configured to refill a lighter. You just need an aerosol can of butane to refill with. I hope you are not confusing the propane tank refill stations at some gas stations to a lighter.

I hear it's a good idea to put the lighter in the freezer and leave it there for a few hours before refilling. Probably has something to do with being able to put more butane in the lighter.
You risk cracking plastic lighter when butane fills frozen lighter, and you won't be able to fit much more gas. Other concern is if you fill frozen lighter 100% full, it could burst when it heats up to room temperature (or higher temp when you hold it in your hand). To avoid risk, just refill it when its empty. Usualy refill can lasts for few refills ( depending on volume).
@@Pukovnik141 I have an old Coleman refillable lighter. It's recommended by Coleman to stick the lighter in the freezer before refilling it. I've tried both without the freezer and with the freezer. The difference is noticeable. Without the freezer it fills up to about 70 percent full. With the freezer it fills up to about 90 percent full. There is no way to fill one of these up to 100 percent full. The pressure of the butane canister isn't high enough to do so. Have I cracked the plastic? Nope. Here's why. The butane canister gets freezing cold even with short bursts. So I can see why the manufacturer would recommend freezing the lighter first before refilling it.
