dude, you're on to something here. also because it's late and.. ideas: the current theory is that Dema is producing this album, to make people falsely believe everything is okay. this is because of a couple things, like the "made by dema" tag on the new website (can't remember where), an old tweet saying never wear blue (and the album is blue), and the fact that, the bishops can't see yellow, and in the Shy Away MV, there are flashes of yellow, as if someone's trying to signal out for help or whatever. There's also this thing going around that these numbers on the top website spell out 'hello', and a lot of people on the top subreddit think it's Clancy, but I'm not sure how/why they think it's Clancy. Basically, if SAI is supposed to be the bishops trying to take back control, it makes sense that "Clancy is Dead"; after all, Clancy was the only one we know of to escape Dema and stay that way. We got a lot of our information from Clancy. So, Dema obviously wants to silence him. I don't know if he's dead or just missing/kidnapped by the bishops, but either way, Dema did something to him. On the other hand, perhaps Clancy's death is what triggered the bishops to finally take control again. He was the clique's keyhole into Dema and Trench as a whole, and we could no longer be controlled by Dema's propaganda. So, Clancy dies for some reason, whether the bishops caught up to him, or he escaped Trench and is presumed dead because he can't communicate through the old channels, or whatever, and the bishops finally have a good handle on the information leaving and entering Dema/Trench. But because everyone is still aware of what Dema is, and all that good stuff, they need to change the narrative, control it. Switch it around. So they get the boys (or imposter boys for all we know) to make this, as a way of saying "Everything's fine! Clancy lied! Relax!" It's kind of one of those "Hey guys, I need some HELP, my Math hOMework IS TRippY, any advIce.." Basically, it's one of those "Everything's fine" but I think there's a call for help hidden somewhere in there.

Of course, the ARG revealed quite a bit, but I'm wondering if SAI was supposed to come out in 2020, but because of Covid and stuff, it was pushed back and they rethought the storyline? I know they currently have two albums (in an interview they talked about wondering which one to release first) so I think they did intend to release an album in 2020, but then Covid hit and they did the ARG to keep fans invested, but then it became something more.

Twenty one pilots have created a fictional world which an album called 'Trench' revolves around. This world has a city called Dema. Dema represents bad stuff, like depression and sadness. In that city there are 9 bishops, each of those bishops represent a different insecurity (anxiety, depression, fear of not being loved). The bishops rule Dema. Some people live in Dema. Those people represent people who are trapped by their insecurities. If you escape Dema, the bishops will come after you and try and get you back. Then there are the Banditos. The Banditos are the good guys, who will try and help you escape Dema (your insecurities). The leader of the Banditos is Josh. He tried to help Tyler escape Dema again and again, but Tyler keeps on getting dragged back by the bishops. Outside of Dema is Trench, which is a place. Trench is basically an in between place of normal life and Dema. Then there is Clancy. He is a character in this storyline. He is someone who also tries to escape Dema (but he doesn't represent Tyler). Clancy writer letters (we are not sure who to) and you could find those letters on a website called dmaorg.info. Unfortunately, that website doesn't show the letters anymore, but the letters basically showed Clancy's struggle of trying to leave Dema. And Tyler is wearing a jacket, which on the back says 'Good Day Dema', which is the talk show he was on in the livestream. They have planned this propaganda thing for months right under our noses and we didn't realise.
I have a theory, with the idea that scaled and icy is a anagram for Clancy is dead, we all heard the thing “scaled and icy is propaganda” what if this is talking about how the idea that Clancy is dead is propaganda by nico and the bishops, perhaps he’s still alive... outside the city

I’ve been a listener of this group since Vessel and had no idea that there was a story or anything until Clancy. I just never spent time digging into the songs or every went on the Internet forums about them, and really only listened to the songs that I really enjoyed, but now I’m going back and picking everything apart. Okay im new to the fandom and im confused as hell. Someone explain please
Okay so there is a lot of lore behind this.
Twenty one pilots have created a fictional world which an album called 'Trench' revolves around.
This world has a city called Dema. Dema represents bad stuff, like depression and sadness. In that city there are 9 bishops, each of those bishops represent a different insecurity (anxiety, depression, fear of not being loved). The bishops rule Dema. Some people live in Dema. Those people represent people who are trapped by their insecurities.
If you escape Dema, the bishops will come after you and try and get you back.
Then there are the Banditos. The Banditos are the good guys, who will try and help you escape Dema (your insecurities). The leader of the Banditos is Josh. He tried to help Tyler escape Dema again and again, but Tyler keeps on getting dragged back by the bishops.
Outside of Dema is Trench, which is a place. Trench is basically an in between place of normal life and Dema.
Then there is Clancy. He is a character in this storyline. He is someone who also tries to escape Dema (but he doesn't represent Tyler). Clancy writer letters (we are not sure who to) and you could find those letters on a website called dmaorg.info.
Unfortunately, that website doesn't show the letters anymore, but the letters basically showed Clancy's struggle of trying to leave Dema.

That was the theme of TØP's album 'Trench'.
Now there is scaled and icy. Scaled and icy is propaganda' from the bishops. The bishops have taken Tyler and Josh into Dema and are forcing them to create this album. The title of the album is an anagram for Clancy is dead.
But a lot of people don't believe that Clancy is dead, they think that he is alive and had even possibly escaped Dema, but the bishops are trying to cover it up. And here, in this video I think Tyler is on the process of being taken to Dema, his studio is all packed up, and he looks really sad. This is where the propaganda of Dema has begun.
