Firewatch - 6 years later - is it still special in 2022?

- Firewatch is one of the most special games I've ever played - but I thought I'd never played it again - because as it's a story-driven adventure - I thought I'd seen everything there was to be seen. How wrong I was. 6 years later, I was surprised by some of the things I noticed 2nd time round.
Which indie games do you love?

Still one of my favorite games ever
It’s such a phenomenal experience and second time round I noticed so many different things. Which other indie titles do you love?
I just played it tonight and pulled an all nighter. The artificial loneliness was amazing, and I went through so many emotions. The ending left me feeling blank.
Yeah, I just finished it and I’m breaking down every two seconds
This game is VERY special to this very day
I played Firewatch for the first time recently and I absolutely loved it. This video gave me a new perspective on some of the story, especially since I had some trouble empathizing with the Julia part of the story and moreso focused on the relationship with Delila, since that's the relationship with get to see develop and crumble in earnest. The saddest part of this story, however, is the ending. The real ending. The ending where the development team was purchased by Valve, told they were going to receive a AAA level budget for their next game, only to have that game canceled and the developers sent to work on different projects. Absolutely devastating.
Great game! The ending hit me like a truck - just the ultimate sadness(
Please Play What remains of Edith Finch. This Story Broke me. Its the best Story I ever experienced thru a Game.
ITS the best Game i ever played
Fantastic spot on review. Deserves more views!
A very special game for me as well. It was my door to "walking sims" or adventure games about the experience. Abzu, A short hike, and The last campfire ti name a few. I fell in love with firewatch from a narrative and visual perspective. The game really started to heighten my appreciation for games on a more artistic level. I'm pretty young and my love for games and appreciation of the medium has changed a lot in 21 years starting when I was 3.
i played it for the first time a few weeks back. i felt it wasnt as amazing as some of the reviews led on, like it wasnt the best game ive ever played. not the worst. it was just a good game with a fun premise. ill most likely never play it until a few years down the line where i feel slightly nostalgic about it. usually id stay around a game like this to pick up all the achievements but honestly jumping back into the free roam would feel quite weird.
I must admit, playing it 6 years later gave it a whole new impact - it gave me an appreciation of how the game manipulates you without you know it, and how it forces you to feel. First time I played it - I enjoyed it - and after a while I kept thinking about it. But second time round I think somehow, I got more from it. I hope the same thing happens to you. :). What other indie games do you like?
