- Watch a demonstration painting in gouache as I paint oak trees in a peaceful village setting. This is also a test the Jeece Finest gouache paints that I reviewed recently. How do these gouache paints stack up against other good quality paints? Is the result acceptable? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Do you paint with gouache? How do these new paints look to you?
Gorgeous colors. I've never painted with gouache, but your demonstration makes it seem very attractive.
Gouache is fun and rewarding. Worth a try.
I admire your loose style. And this gouache painting is fabulous. Thanks.
Thank you Lavinia.
Great tip about adding back colour after adding white! Chalky is exactly how it looks! I will try this fix. Thanks!
Thanks for your tutorial ⚘😊🌹🖐🏻⚘😊🌹
loved this a lot. thanks, malcolm! watching your videos really give me a better understanding of colors.
Excellent, thank you.
Beautiful painting. Very enjoyable first video. Thank you. I shall return. I use acrylics mainly. Though have many other choices to experiment with. Paulette
Your gouache paintings are so beautiful!!!😭
Thank you Byron, 😊
I'm working on a demo with their paint too. They just mailed it to me and I'm interested to see how it works out. Glad to watch yours because I wasn't sure how to pronounce "Jeece" :) enjoyed your video! Looking forward to seeing more!
Great - enjoy them Jared.
I like to paint in gouache. Love this demo and hope you offer some gouache courses soon in addition to the acrylics courses.
Yes, beginners gouache course coming out soon.
I plan to try these paints.
I really enjoy watching your vids! I'm learning a lot. I'm new to gouache and your videos make me want to explore it more. ❤️

Hi - good to hear from you. I'm happy the paints are working for you. I have a few more videos planned for them too. All the best.
looks beautiful. Would you ever consider doing an underpainting? Lots of gouache artists say it can help to draw the painting together but what do you think?
Yes agreed. I do most of the time, but of you have the idea well in mind you are fine either way.
I have some gouache paints but not sure how to use them. They are a pan set so I need to use water obviously, but how much should I use? It seems like I'd need very little after watching your wonderful demo. I'd love to try them....what is the best paper-watercolor and what weight? It would seems a light weight, but on your demo, it looks like hot press, is that correct? Thank you. I'm a self taught artist just starting out a business. I do watercolor and mixed media. I did try my gouache once, but I used it more like watercolor and now see it is not like watercolor at all! Thank you so much!! Your demo was so beautiful and you made it look so easy. I loved it and it was very inspiring, Malcolm!
Hi Deb - you might want to look at the video on materials "Getting Started with Gouache Part 1". Yes I use a little water. The paint must be thicker than watercolor. Use cold press 300gsm paper although hot press works too, but I prefer a little texture of cold press. Enjoy!
I love gpuche because thr colours are so vibrant. One problem I have is that our local art.stores does not sell individual tubes of gouache paint. It poses a problem when I have done a painting like a recent one that i used a lot blue and red to get purple. Where can I get individual tubes?
Try artsavingsclub.co.za . They sell tubes
I try not to water it down too much but as I go over with layers I seem to end up with Mud. Perhaps I should let each layer dry first?
Right. I tend to work one area while letting the other dry. Even so one brush mark is fine. Go over the same spot twice and it dissolves and picks up paint below.
