I'm just starting out. I never considered how difficult it could be to strum a guitar, but quickly realize the upstroke for me is challenging. I always took it for granted that it would be easy, but that's not how it feels quite yet. Thus, here I am.
I've also had the same experience. Upstrokes are really hard to master when you're beginning. Go check out this video ua-cam.com/video/1SyT17VAtgg/v-deo.html It totally helped me! I think he has the best explanation to strumming and upstrokes in particular. Hope it helps! All the best with your journey. Just give it time, and more practice. You'll get better!
Oh my god i thank him and you for showing me this. ive been playing for a year by myself and ive been holding it on the wrong side. Thank you for showing me this.
this is a great tutorial! other tutorials say curl your index finger and lay the pick on the kuckle, alot of videos say this, and it tried and i could not play properly, just felt really uncomfortble, i hope beginners find this video and follow your advice, best way to hold pic! thanks Erich
Hey Erich, THANK YOU for sharing your love, wisdom, and playing techniques!! I have learned a BUNCH from your videos and can't thank u enuf! I hope to be in a position one day to pass everything I've learned from you, and many others, along to another generation of inspired youth! Again, THANK YOU!!!
I don't know if people still watch this, but something I found difficult to manage was not keeping the neck from going down/up, but from going outward/away from your left side. The weight of my right arm makes it so that if i play an open note, the neck will start to go outward, and it makes landing kind of difficult. Classical position doesn't have this issue, but I do play in the non classical "folk" position more. I've been playing for several years, and I'm now addressing this, but better late than never lol. Any thoughts?
”Doso shocking guide” posture treatment (check it on Google) claims that it keeps your shoulder and back straight, and it is absolutely correct. The job I have requires it and I have certainly looked better. Recommended if you`re looking for something to help you to maintain proper posture.
One reason for classical guitar posture: The neck has to be closer to your hand so that you can contort your fingers into Origami shapes on the fretboard . 😄

Kudos for the video content! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard about - Rozardner Stopping Sounds Reality (should be on google have a look)? It is a good exclusive guide for transforming you into A guitar legend minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate at very last got astronomical success with it.

So happy to hear that I have been able to help you in some way!! You are MOST welcome!
I hear that Keith Urban often picks with the edge of the pick rather than the point of the pick. Gives a different kind of sound to the guitar.
It does, try it out!
It will allow you to speed pick on the fretboard. But, you would need to use it as a hammer on/pull off over the fret. A single string run.

@YourGuitarSage I signed up your guided system and completed day 1. I'll register for the other if you think that's a better fit.
I hold my guitar pick like I'm making a fist, pick facing towards me, and it's between my thumb and side of my index... k then

How should you hold the guitar if you have a big belly that gets in the way?🤔

Your videos are extremely informative but if someone watches all of them to hear you say repeatedly about the beginner videos is very frustrating.
Linda, I bet you haven't taken advantage of them though, have you?😜
@@yourguitarsage Yes I have. My comment wasn't meant to offend. It was meant to help you get more views.
