Good on you Mr. RBB! Nice combo. Yeah I kind of prefer not having the annoyance of notifications too. That’s a smart way to do it. Maybe I’ll have to start Dual Wielding too! 🤔💭⚔️
I actually like the notifications. I am NOT an Apple Watch guy and I am more of a classic g shock fan. I have a tendency to leave my phone in the other room while I’m at home or on the table face down when I’m anywhere. I don’t ever turn the sound on my phone on. This just gives me a little vibration and tells me who texts me, where I can then decide if I need to check my phone or if it can wait. I LOVE the step counter. It’s keeping me motivated to keep the numbers up. I wish it had a timer on it so badly, but the stopwatch suffices for most of my needs. Personally, mine is all black but has grey and red accents which I love. My biggest complaint is the pushers are very hard to push. It’s like a world time, an iron man and an Apple Watch had a three way.

Thanks for the video. I am probably coming too late, but I"m struggling between the GD350 and the GBD200UU. I need a strong vibration alarm, and I like the idea of a Calendar notification in the wrist (does that work?). I'm on the sober side of watches... What would you recommend?
No problem, Matias! 🙏 Glad you enjoyed it. Well, the GD-350 is one of my favourite picks of all time - So it's hard to remain unbiased 😜 Both have decent vibration motors, but the GBD200 is the only way you'd get your calendar notifications. Note that it pulls these via Bluetooth from your phone, so you'd also get any other notifications your phone would - Not just calendar. Also, as I mention in this video, the notifications don't have a whole lot of room for text, so you might only get some of the title of the calendar event... But it will still remind you! 😄 Hope this helps. 👌
@@goatreviews The best part of course is the battery life. My notifications are on 24/7 and I am yet to see the low battery icon. I am confident it will outlast an year or two. The best part is I have set it to only vibrate on calls so I don't miss them. Coming from an apple watch, charging was a constant nightmare and this has solved that with practically no loss in functionality for my use case. Second, I love the step tracking feature, that simple face has actually made me go from 4000 ish steps a day to pushing myself to do 10000+ every day, that in itself is great for a fitness centric daily driver - The Gshock move app seamlessly syncs the steps to Apple Health aswell I honestly don't think its any different from the GBD 200 much, and pretty much both are equally good. I don't know if the GBD has Sunrise / Sunset - That's the only additional thing I use sometimes. Both are almost at par
👍 Another “Cons”: the stopwatch function without 1/100 sec. Available since the very beginning of the digital LCD watch era. I know it’s a limitation of MIP display, but is not acceptable.
Nice call out. Absolutely! Not having the milliseconds is very noticeable. Thanks for sharing the explanation, I didn’t know it was a limitation of the MIP! It makes me wonder though… even if the MIP can’t “show us” the fast movement of the milliseconds ‘live’, surely it could at least calculate them anyway on the module, and show us once we pause the time! 🤷🏻♂️ Great to hear from you Davide! 🙏
Funnily enough it is *not* a limitation of the MIP display, you can get quicker responses out of it by timing a split time well in the stopwatch. It's simply a limitation of Casio's firmware for it, judging by how the watch respond of the way they read the button presses.
‘Smart’ idea Gigachad! 🧠🙏 You’re very right. I’m sure it’s just some sand under or around the button housing. I reckon I’ll remove the bezel and blast it clean! 🧼💥
I have a question. Most times, my watch counts in increments of 6 or 7 steps. However, a few other times, it tracks in increments of 1 or 2 steps and I can't seem to figure out why it does this. Is this some sort of a defect?
G’day Varun! 👋 I didn’t pay too close attention to the step count as it was going up! Hmmm… I doubt it’s a defect. My guess would be that it is some kind of battery conservation procedure - as what I do know is that the MIP Displays used in the GBD200 do not have the ability to “refresh quickly”, which is why the stopwatch doesn’t show milliseconds, only seconds! So perhaps this is related. What do you think? 🤔 Hope this helps! 🙏
Hi Sachin! Thanks for the suggestion 🙏 I did have this in my backlog, but the app changed (and so did my priorities 😁) I may make a video on how to connect with the new App in the future. 👌
I couldn’t agree more 💯 The countdown timer is arguably the handiest feature - it baffles me that this wasn’t included. Stay tuned for a GBX-100 opening soon! 👀😉 Thanks for weighing in, Princess! 🙏
I don’t believe I encountered this in the settings, unfortunately! 🥲 Would have been nice TBH - I’ve been enjoying the Hourly Chime on my A500W this week 👌
Great question, Nimish! I down own the 200-1 to compare with my 200UU-1, so I have looked it up on the official Casio website for you. It looks like the “G-Shock” text on the 200 is written in white! Also, the pushers are a different colour. Other than that the rest looks the same to me. www.casio.com/us/watches/gshock/product.GBD-200-1/ www.casio.com/intl/watches/gshock/product.GBD-200UU-1/ I did find it fascinating that the 200UU has a few extra feature icons on the website, for: “Easy to operate via smartphone Easy to see in darkness Great for runners” 🤔
The pieces of ‘adapter’ on top and bottom connecting to the straps are black on the 200-1 and green on the 200-uu1. Also the rim which Gshock is written on the UU1 is more matte black.
G'day Stepelli! It looks like you missed the 'Unboxing' half of this review (I usually do an unboxing/review first, and then another review 1 week later with more experience). @@goatreviews wow even the link to the point of the video I was looking for. You're awesome 😊 EDIT: the link refer to this video and not the linked video but you're still awesome 😜❤️
G'day Janssen! Great question. I've read varying reports from people who have owned the GBD-200 long term, some say 1 year with Bluetooth on, and others up to 2 years. I covered it briefly in the unboxing video if you'd like to check it out! ("Backlight & Battery" Chapter): ua-cam.com/video/CyM1Nva-jYc/v-deo.html Thanks for your question 🙏
My GBD-100 lasted almost exactly a year while using the Bluetooth function to it's fullest extend, so that's a good minimum. You can check the battery voltage in the hidden service menu, Up + Down + Clear simultaneously -> Scroll to "Battery" -> Start

G’day Fehmy! Great question. I’ve just had a look through the features and settings of my GBD-200, and wasn’t able to find an hourly beep! Unfortunately, this appears to be a feature that’s lacking.
Hi Goat, great review on this Casio Smartwatch. How does the vibration alarm on this smart watch compare to the GD-350 that you also have? Are they about the same? Is one better than the other? Is the vibration strong enough to be felt easily?
Glad you enjoyed it, PickAny! 🙏 I've just equipped both watches to conduct a quick test for you. I would say that the vibration alarms are VERY similar in strength, but if I had to choose, the GBD-200 is marginally stronger. And yes, the vibration alarm is strong enough that I have never missed feeling it, even to wake me up 😊
Love my GBD-200, but yes, it lacks of an hourly signal, and the possibility of choosing which notifications to receive, is a big con, as you can get either all of them or none, anda getting all the notifications, is really annoying. I also have a GBX-100, that is very similar, with a couple of extra functions.
@@lw4dbe I’m glad these points resonated with you as a fellow owner! 🙏 Oh yes, the GBX-100! 😁 I actually borrowed one of these from a viewer, and have produced a review for this one too! You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/y8GVebFkuc4/v-deo.html
Interesting. Yeah there’s no real excuse for a lack of hourly signal TBH. I consider Solar as a luxury - Though it’s definitely one of my favourite features 🤩☀️👌
Excellent review, you go into important details more than most! Was the light button the only button affected by sand? Is that unusual for g shocks? Can you easily repeat the countdown timer?
Thank you, FreedomFox! 🙏 Yes, it was the only button affected. As an update, showering with the watch a few times seems to have dislodged the sand 😁 I’ve not had other G-Shocks buttons get jammed like that before. Yes, as a “workout timer”, the feature is made to be set up as easily repeatable as you do sets of your workout. I’ve just tested for you, and both timers I set up went off automatically one after the other finished, and then it was just a matter of pressing start again to repeat the cycle! 🤩
Hey, thank you for all the help! Last question (promise)… do you know, by any chance, if you can turn off the notifications while keeping the other Bluetooth/app functions?
No worries @@FreedomFox1, happy to help! I’ve just done some testing for you. It doesn’t look like there’s a way to pick and choose, unfortunately. It’s all or nothing! 😂
@@goatreviews Many thanks! I love the size/look, display and vibrate features on this one… nothing else like it. As many seem to agree, it would be much better with more control over the “smart” features and with solar (2 yr battery is not so great).
@@FreedomFox1 My go-to G-Shock with vibration alarm and a great battery is the GD-350! Amazing display legibility too. No bluetooth though, but it’s not needed.
Hi man! I can see that this model but in the City Night version (released on May 2023) is no longer available in the US or it doesn't appear on G-Shocks's webpage for some Europe countries, but in Latin America, it is available. Would that be normal? The models are different for each model?
G’day Alan 👋 Man, if I’d have known about this awesome colourway I’d have chosen it over the one I did! 👀🔥 My best guess on the availability is that they produced the new city night series in a quantity to reflect how well the original was selling. It’s an awesome design, so perhaps they sold out! @goatreviews Thank you for your reply, man! I totally agree. And you are right, on Amazin they still have this model. Do you think it is a good moment to buy it? I mean, do you think is an old model or it is still a good buy? I think this model (City Night) is from May 2023. And what about the resistance? Is it a true G-Shock?
Happy to help, @@pspgovsliszt 😁 Well, the Bluetooth function isn't really for me, though I can see why it would be great for some people! I know people who love this watch, but it doesn't get a lot of wrist time from me. The real question is: How do YOU feel about it? Yes, as a G-Shock, it's fully made to be knocked around 😁

Hi Ashish, I found the step counter to be quite reasonable based on my usual and expected step counts, though I did not directly compare this to another step counter - For example my phone. Hope this helps! 🙏
As you said, it just a fitness tracker and nothing more. The manufacturer never describe it as a smart watch. The H1000 model is more "smart" than this.
Mine hasn’t run out since receiving it around the date of this video, though I hear it can drain quite quickly if you use the Bluetooth frequently. The watch cannot be charged, but requires battery replacement. 👌
Hahaha, not quite. Honestly, I felt strange to just talk with nothing happening on screen - So wanted to make it a little more engaging! It looks like I overdid it! I appreciate your honest feedback, which has been noted, Stuart! 🙏
Hi Miruska! 👋 By memory, it vibrates for any notifications if they are turned on (including phone calls). I’d love to connect to my GBD-200 to verify this for you, but doing so would invalidate a timekeeping experiment I have going on. i have this watch. Great look, but all functions are convoluted and slow to use. Looks and durability apart, a 30 dollars MI Band beats this watch in every possible way: fitness tracker, alarm watch, countdown, timer, night torch, oxygen, heartbeat, app functionality, notifications. it should be considered as a "dum" watch, in this way it is attractive and comfortable
I have several smart watches and was hoping Casio would overshadow them. Disappointed it did not. I hope they work out the kinks because I love my GSHOCKS. I'll stick with my Garmins and Suunto for now.
To be fair you have to compare the gpr h 1000 to the apple watch. Not the cheapest casio smart. If i compare 100 usd non branded smart watches to the apple watch, guess who wins
This GBD-200 and the GWM5610U are the best budget squares still to date !!! love both mine just waiting till casio plop a MiP screen on a gwm5610u ill be sorted !! GD350s are soon being discontinued ...

It only looks cute, that’s all. Too many cons, laggy, too many steps to get the feature you want to use. And the features I use the most on my Apple Watch or any other watch is the Timer. And this watch doesn’t even have that 🤦🏻♂️ I give this watch 1.5 out of 5
Hi Matrix, I agree with your assessment as overall grade. I am finding that the GBD-200 is perhaps the least worn watch in my entire collection for these reasons. We had a discussion in the Discord about this just yesterday as a matter of fact, and 3 of us agreed that it was our least favourite 😄 As someone put it - It's a decent watch, but just not a decent watch for ME 😁
I'm not a fan of the Apps in general either, Enrico. 💯 In my opinion, every function should be easily accessible and intuitive on the watch itself, without the need for an app. 👌
Does it "celebrate" the stepgoal daily, 5 day ina row? Thinking about this for my wannabe techsavvy 75yo dad who walks a lot, to replace his garmin wristband.
Yo Sherief! 👋 When you say a “copy of it”, do you mean you have the same model as me? Or that another company has made a copy of the GBD-200? 🤯 I’d love to hear more details!
Skmei is sh*t. I have one and after an year and a half it stopped working. Ok it is Chinese cheap watch but how hard is in 2021 to copy a simple Swiss watch and wrap it in cheap plastic? :) My point is don't buy Skmei. Their best quality is looking good on pictures.
That’s a shame. SKMEI definitely has a niche position in the market though! It’s a lesser quality, but for almost the same functionality, and at a lower price. I was definitely put off by their blatant design copying, though! Thanks for sharing, Beadsman! 🙏
Well done, Tiago!! 😂👌 You’re the first one to acknowledge the Priest from Age of Empires in the thumbnail! 🙌 Looks like I managed to avoid his conversion this time 😎

Note that it pulls these via Bluetooth from your phone, so you'd also get any other notifications your phone would - Not just calendar.
Also, as I mention in this video, the notifications don't have a whole lot of room for text, so you might only get some of the title of the calendar event... But it will still remind you! 😄
Hope this helps. 👌
Thanks for the fast reply!!
Now it's time to take decisions! haha@@goatreviews
The notification feature UI is by design - have it’s bigger brother the GBX 100 - love it. Made me finally divorce my apple watch for good
Good stuff, Mak P! 🙏
What do you like most about the GBX? How would you rate it compared to the GBD?
@@goatreviews The best part of course is the battery life. My notifications are on 24/7 and I am yet to see the low battery icon. I am confident it will outlast an year or two. The best part is I have set it to only vibrate on calls so I don't miss them. Coming from an apple watch, charging was a constant nightmare and this has solved that with practically no loss in functionality for my use case.
Second, I love the step tracking feature, that simple face has actually made me go from 4000 ish steps a day to pushing myself to do 10000+ every day, that in itself is great for a fitness centric daily driver - The Gshock move app seamlessly syncs the steps to Apple Health aswell
I honestly don't think its any different from the GBD 200 much, and pretty much both are equally good. I don't know if the GBD has Sunrise / Sunset - That's the only additional thing I use sometimes. Both are almost at par
Does the watch count steps while cycling or driving?
Hi Damian, I never tried cycling with it, though I didn’t notice it increasing while driving! 🚗
👍
Another “Cons”: the stopwatch function without 1/100 sec.
Great to hear from you Davide! 🙏
@@goatreviewsthat’s exactly what I was going to suggest. Once paused it should show milliseconds
Funnily enough it is *not* a limitation of the MIP display, you can get quicker responses out of it by timing a split time well in the stopwatch.
It's simply a limitation of Casio's firmware for it, judging by how the watch respond of the way they read the button presses.
Would you attempt to unjam/service the light button on the watch? Seems like a very important feature!
‘Smart’ idea Gigachad! 🧠🙏 You’re very right. I’m sure it’s just some sand under or around the button housing. I reckon I’ll remove the bezel and blast it clean! 🧼💥
does the stepcounter works also if you dont have a smartwatch ?
Indeed it does! 👌 The step counter happens on the watch, so doesn’t need a Bluetooth connection active.
I have a question. Most times, my watch counts in increments of 6 or 7 steps. However, a few other times, it tracks in increments of 1 or 2 steps and I can't seem to figure out why it does this. Is this some sort of a defect?
G’day Varun! 👋
I didn’t pay too close attention to the step count as it was going up!
Can you share your review with connecting blootooth with mobile phone??
Hi Sachin! Thanks for the suggestion 🙏
I did have this in my backlog, but the app changed (and so did my priorities 😁)
I may make a video on how to connect with the new App in the future. 👌
This is the reason I would choose the GBX-100 instead, the countdown timer.. it's the most important feature on a watch for me
I couldn’t agree more 💯
The countdown timer is arguably the handiest feature - it baffles me that this wasn’t included. Stay tuned for a GBX-100 opening soon! 👀😉
Thanks for weighing in, Princess! 🙏
No hourly chime?
I don’t believe I encountered this in the settings, unfortunately! 🥲 Would have been nice TBH - I’ve been enjoying the Hourly Chime on my A500W this week 👌
Hi! Is it "200UU" version with dark-green plastics?
Hi Hasan! 👋
Yes, the model with the dark green plastic is “gbd-200uu-1” 👌
Just bought one today. Very happy with this watch.
@@wilsep good stuff, Hugo! 👌 Glad you’re enjoying it. 🙏
is the gbd 200 uu1 and gbd 200-1 same in colour except the green element near the dial? is the dial and strap black same as the gbd 200-1 ?
Great question, Nimish!
I down own the 200-1 to compare with my 200UU-1, so I have looked it up on the official Casio website for you.
It looks like the “G-Shock” text on the 200 is written in white! Also, the pushers are a different colour. Other than that the rest looks the same to me.
www.casio.com/us/watches/gshock/product.GBD-200-1/
www.casio.com/intl/watches/gshock/product.GBD-200UU-1/
I did find it fascinating that the 200UU has a few extra feature icons on the website, for:
“Easy to operate via smartphone
Easy to see in darkness
Great for runners”
🤔
The pieces of ‘adapter’ on top and bottom connecting to the straps are black on the 200-1 and green on the 200-uu1. Also the rim which Gshock is written on the UU1 is more matte black.
Nice review thank you! But I haven't ear abot battery life, recharging and how illumination work (Am I lost some piece of the review?). Thanks a lot
G'day Stepelli! It looks like you missed the 'Unboxing' half of this review (I usually do an unboxing/review first, and then another review 1 week later with more experience). Here's the link for you, and the "Backlight and Battery" chapter can be seen at about 3:35 into the video 😁🙏

how's the battery ? thank you
G'day Janssen! Great question.
I've read varying reports from people who have owned the GBD-200 long term, some say 1 year with Bluetooth on, and others up to 2 years. I covered it briefly in the unboxing video if you'd like to check it out! ("Backlight & Battery" Chapter): ua-cam.com/video/CyM1Nva-jYc/v-deo.html
Thanks for your question 🙏
Nice thanks!
My GBD-100 lasted almost exactly a year while using the Bluetooth function to it's fullest extend, so that's a good minimum.
You can check the battery voltage in the hidden service menu, Up + Down + Clear simultaneously -> Scroll to "Battery" -> Start

Hello, I have a question: is there an hourly beep alert?
G’day Fehmy! Great question. I’ve just had a look through the features and settings of my GBD-200, and wasn’t able to find an hourly beep! Unfortunately, this appears to be a feature that’s lacking.
@@goatreviews Thank you for the answer. I will continue to follow you. I'm so glad to have you

How long does the battery last?
G'day Regi - Great question 👌
The battery life will last been 1-2 years, depending on how much you use the Bluetooth functionality.
I've just equipped both watches to conduct a quick test for you. I would say that the vibration alarms are VERY similar in strength, but if I had to choose, the GBD-200 is marginally stronger.
And yes, the vibration alarm is strong enough that I have never missed feeling it, even to wake me up 😊
@@goatreviewsHi Goat, thanks for doing the quick test and letting me know your thoughts on it, I really do appreciate it.
Have a great weekend!

Beautiful watch ! Saw the 1DR model available for USD 90 and I pulled the trigger !
Very cool!! 😎 Hope you enjoy your new pickup! 👌 Thanks for sharing, Satish 🙏
You can check it out here:
ua-cam.com/video/y8GVebFkuc4/v-deo.html
I think the biggest 2 cons I have with my gbd 200 is lack of hourly signal and lack of solar charge... Come on, Casio, you can do better... 😢
Interesting. Yeah there’s no real excuse for a lack of hourly signal TBH.
I consider Solar as a luxury - Though it’s definitely one of my favourite features 🤩☀️👌
@@tomanicolae8200 count down timer sucks. autolight turns off after 6 hrs

Indeed it is! 👌 Distance, Calories, and Steps can all be tracked by the GBD-200.

@@Zergoun All good, brother! 🙏

Thanks for weighing in Simon, fair call! 🙏
Nice looking model, great screen, but the software seems like it still needs work 😅
You’re onto it, Macro! ⌚️👀
Hopefully one of the newer models will address some of the issues! 🙏
Excellent review, you go into important details more than most! Was the light button the only button affected by sand? Is that unusual for g shocks? Can you easily repeat the countdown timer?
Thank you, FreedomFox! 🙏
Yes, it was the only button affected. As an update, showering with the watch a few times seems to have dislodged the sand 😁
I’ve not had other G-Shocks buttons get jammed like that before.
G’day Alan 👋
Man, if I’d have known about this awesome colourway I’d have chosen it over the one I did! 👀🔥
My best guess on the availability is that they produced the new city night series in a quantity to reflect how well the original was selling. It’s an awesome design, so perhaps they sold out!
I’ve had a look on Amazon and was surprised to find one available, and on sale right now for less than what I paid for mine 🤩

And what about the resistance? Is it a true G-Shock?

Well, the Bluetooth function isn't really for me, though I can see why it would be great for some people! I know people who love this watch, but it doesn't get a lot of wrist time from me.
The real question is: How do YOU feel about it?
Yes, as a G-Shock, it's fully made to be knocked around 😁
Hey bro. I don’t know why the fuck I’m binge watching your old videos. It’s my day off today. 😂 I’m kidding man. I like your stuff.

Hi Miruska! 👋
By memory, it vibrates for any notifications if they are turned on (including phone calls).

So far, haven’t had to swap batteries since this video was made! 🔋👌 Keep in mind, I haven’t been using Bluetooth.
i have this watch.
