my dear mother worked in Villa Gwardamangia during the time the queen and Prince Philip lived there - she met my dad there in 1943 when my dad was also in the Royal Navy - they married in 1944 - and the villa looked lovely there
Today Villa Guardamangia is derelict and it is being sold for almost €6,000,000. God knows whether it will be restored into hopefully a boutique hotel, or gutted except for the façade to make way for a block of modern apartments. The elevated garden promenade seen in the old film in which the royals are seen walking has almost all collapsed. 'Villa Guardamangia', it is going to be restored to it's former glory and as a museum. That is good news that this historical building is going to be restored!
