    The "10 successful repetitions" technique has one benefit that was not mentioned: It develops a muscle memory where you will feel the mistake, even before you see it in the command history.

    thank you! Not just for the wave dash but this tips of deconstructing a hard task on more simples ones. (kinda basic but i didn't know it was that helpful) it's so powerful now i know exactly how the wavedash works and what i do wrong (i also wondered how could you do ff4 so fast after a wavedash on kazuya ) and i think this is exactly why you have such a strong execution it's because you practise in a much more efficient way than the others. So yeah thank you !

      Breaking things down is the most basic way of learning things but unfortunately most people don't understand/want to. It's how you get good grades in school and university, it's how you learn any instrument, learning anything in general really.

  • @SolidSonicTH
    @SolidSonicTH 3 роки тому +3

    The problem I have with wavedashing is it’s very dangerous to do unless you can lightdash. If you just get large crouch dashes it’s super-obvious. Lightdashing conceals your attack windows with a lot of motion so you can run straight up to someone and they won’t easily be able to pick out a moment of vulnerability because you reset your attack window so frequently.
    To me that’s the really scary part of a wavedash done right. It causes your opponent a lot of stress because the risk vs. reward of trying to break it up is unfavorable and could be the exact moment you attack and they take CH damage (and that’s why the Mishima 50/50 is, at least, above average if not fantastic; paralyze your opponent with uncertainty and cloud their ability to respond to the myriad of options you have to open them up). The opponent can SSL but the wavedash realigns so it’s not a perfect solution.

      Dapho it’s not about the controller, I thought if I got a fight stick I’ll be able to do it more easily, but eventually realise it was like starting from the beginning again, then spent more time on the controller and now it’s just how I move around, becomes second nature

    • @GurGurka
      @GurGurka 6 років тому

      @kipzonderkop1994 I never said it was about the controller, I switched to stick because I wanted to know what it felt like, and in my opinion it just feels more fun. I never practiced wavedashing to the fullest extent while I was on the pad, but I feel as if it's easier to do on the stick for me either way. It is hard right now, but with more practice I will get better, and hopefully with that, have more fun.

    Df2 or similar launch beats wave dash probably all the way up to tournament. Wavedash in American online is just asking to eat damage. It is good after a knockdown though, but even then you only need a few. I’ve gotten really good at two wavedashes and two “Korean “backdashes at a time and I can get by on that. I get out of rhythm if I do more, but it’s all good that’s all I need.

    • @bigsteve1894
      @bigsteve1894 6 років тому

      People online get carried away so spring kicks or like u said df2 launchers or even Hopkicks beat them.
      Yeah I also use two or even one wavedashes after knockdown because that is all you need. Heck even having them slow is sometimes better instead of having them fast lol.

    I mained as Kazuya and vanilla Jin in T3 and TTT as a kid, playing a lot vs friends. So I learned to do a pretty respectable crouch dash back then. After that, I didn't play Tekken until T7, except for a little bit of T5. I didn't really have to practice that much to do the more advanced crouch cancel stuff, like the wave dash, ws, f, ff move mixups. I could also do a decent korean backdash immediately, without any practice after just watching a Aris video where he explained the inputs. When I realized that you were just stacking P2 crouch dashes, I had pretty much already learned to do it.
    So, TMM is correct. Learn the basics. For me as a kid, that's all I knew, and being so comfortable with the basics enabled me to pick up more advanced stuff in a negligable amount of time.

  • @sabahbubbler

    To answer your question in the beginning its because in game, the spacing and timing is faster than in real life. In real life, we couldn't cover that much space
    Also there is somewhat a real life wave dash in real life. That it a Dempsey roll by boxers like Mike Tysom. Altho not 100% similar but the bobbing motion looks cool. And like wavedash, Dempsey roll makes you unpredictable for a jab, straight etc. Except in tekken it's high mid or low

      Yeah my thumb still peels when I play. But when you get used to it the pain will go away

      It is. You instinctively start using to many muscles that you don't need for that movement. I can imagine how your whole wrist is dancing arround as you press on that d-pad very forcefully. That's why Adrien suggests that you start with single separate wavedashes so that you don't do unnecessary movements and thus refine the movement that goes into muscle memory.

    While it may be true that mike tyson doing this in real life would look very weird it is mostly based on the upper and the lower extremities of the person for example if a person is good with balancing it's whole body and has fast reaction time then a person might be able to do at least a mini wavedash but ofc this kind of tactic would only be good for experience fighters and should not be used in pro fights for this can be mostly used as a exercise of balance and endurance.

    Player 1 Mishima swinging by and asking what's wrong with my/everyone's hands that player 2 is easier, even with practice I feel like I only started playing fighting games a week ago on player 2 ;__;

    • @SolidSonicTH
      @SolidSonicTH 3 роки тому

      Yeah but they’re slow. Plus you get nothing on a blocked f,f+4 anyway so you can’t build momentum with it.
      Better to CD into EWHF, f,f+2, or WS 3. f,f+3 is good if your opponent is scared to act, though.

    I've never had luck doing a full qcf. I have a much easier time just hitting the corner in my square gate and releasing to tap forward with my thumb again and repeat.
