I read somewhere, in the eagle fact pages I've delved in to, eagles have been known to spend 2 months incubating nonviable eggs. I thought this was a long time but, apparently in the grand scheme, this is not an unusually long time! .
I could see what looks like feathers in the broken egg as it moves 3:58-4:01. It could be the way the light hits the membrane, but it does look like something solid inside the membrane. My theory is that 3 eggs are harder to brood and there's less contact with the brood patch, especially for Shadow who's smaller. He doesn't fit over them as well, especially at the beginning till he got the hang of it. He always had them lined up in a row and Jackie had them in a group. Maybe the 3 eggs didn't get the same temperature all the time and weren't rolled enough, whereas one or two would have been incubated better. That and so much changing weather and snow may have been enough to cause a failure in all 3. I have faith in Jackie and Shadow and hope they raise a chick next year!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts @evas9184... Is a good theory and is interesting. But it raises more questions in my mind. It was Jackie the one who incubated the eggies most of the time. Shadow only was allowed very briefly if at all. Still I wish that for the sakes of the future eagles generations, some how these eggs could be analyzed in the hope to perhaps get a better insight on what happened to them. According to the information we have... the nest is built in such a wonderful and perfect design that will protect the temperature from escaping or getting too cold. Jackie and Shadow had to keep moving the nest bedding to prevent the bowl from getting too hot. As you see... More questions than answers. I wish we could sent a drone to get closer for pictures and perhaps take a sample for further studies beyond observation. Perhaps that woud answer questions and help prevent this sad ending from happening again. One egg not making it...Maybe. But All 3... ??? Shadow and Jackie have had other successes. Is not their first time. We grieve with them now, But Hope for a wonderful next opportunity For Life. Thanks again. 🦅🐣♥️ Here's To Life 🥂

I heard a crack at 07:13:23 when Jackie was carrying a large stick by the eggs. Right after, a little black spot appeared on the egg that later fell apart and disappeared.
Jackie in the effort to make shadow move on from the eggs she just walked over the eggs with that Big O stick breaking one of them and was like “OOPPSSS!! sorry, coming by!!”
They'll likely get eaten, by the eagles themselves, or other birds, mice, etc. The fastest they're destroyed, the faster the eagles can move on. It's still earl enough for them to have another clutch, so lets hope these eggs are gone soon!
If I'm not mistaken I believe this was Jackie who brought that big stick and then inadvertently stepped on the egg.....there is NO WAY this would've happened several weeks ago when both of the birds were extremely determined and careful....but it follows up on the behaviours we've seen from Jackie for the past 10 days to 2 weeks, where she has spent increasing amounts of time away from the nest....letting Shadow staff the nest overnight.........its interesting to watch as right after the egg cracked, she sort of hesitated then look back and down at the egg like "oopsie....my bad...oh well....wasnt viable anyway...."......
