Sorry, Gordan, that was BS saying 'here's a tip don't eat here'. I met Rupert when I went to the Letterman show in 2003, and he is a real Deli owner, and a sweet, humble, down to earth guy. And that sandwich looked pretty good, as far as i could tell.
I think this is the first time I’ve witnessed an annoyed Rupert. You can tell by the end of the segment was being nice and playing along but he wasn’t happy about Ramsay’s line of questioning.
Well Gordon it's easy to criticize bc you aren't going up against May. Such a wonderful lady but she could have Gordon s*itting his pants if she wanted to. She is/was the co-owner of the deli, you just didn't see her on camera 99% of the time.
deep fried is quicker to do, but a grilled snitzel version of the chicken strips much better. I miss the old Letterman shows. grateful it's on here now.
But what was the final suggestion? It's good to listen to good criticism specially if it's coming from a specialist like Gordon Ramsey. You may end up with a better seller Sandwich one of these days!
Somehow I missed this when this first aired so thanks for posting this. I’m surprised that Rupert participated in this and some of the other skits though. Since Dave’s show has been off the air now for years, you guys can fess up. How did you get Rupert to participate in these bits? Did you use a type of managerial persuasive talk methodology? Did you guys pay him a lot of money? Did you have incriminating photos? Did he suffer brain trauma from which you took unkind advantage? Come on. Share!
Gordon Ramsey is successful but he can be arrogant. Not every restaurant he has opened was successful and most of the restaurants he tries to save close. Rupert Jee’s Hello Deli is not a high end establishment but it’s pretty good for what it is. Gordon criticizing a sandwich shop is stupid. The Hello Deli has been opened for over 30 years and I’m sure Gordon would love to have a successful NYC restaurant that would be opened for over 30 years.
In 2024, paying $5.95 for a chicken sandwich that big seems like an impossibly distant dream world that maybe used to exist.
In NYC as well
How much is Rupert charging for this sandwich now?
I remember when a candy bar was a nickel!!
@@ironmike5812Dad?
@@bb.cute.channelNothing. He and his wife recently retired and closed the deli :-(
Before Gordon became an empire. He gets more offers for shows now than anyone else on the planet.
Dave yelling,"Get him a drink"😂What did you think was going to happen when you sent the prince of darkness into a deli.
Exactly 💯 right ✅️!
I think Gordon was a little lost for negative things to say because that sandwich was actually not bad haha
now rupert, taste gordons "by the fire grilled cheese"
Without a doubt his biggest fail!🤪
"Fish rots from the inside out". Wow. I have got to buy Ramsey's book. I'm a moron.
Just avoid fish, you’ll be fine
Well, that was incredible. Dave and Gordon. This is comedy gold. It's also an intelligent interview.
All these years, I thought his name was
Rupert G.
Yep, we all did for a time.
It is rupert g
Look at the video title. Apparently, it’s spelled Rupert JEE.
I ate ate at Rupert's and lived to tell about it. Biff also stopped by while I was there and picked up an order.
How did 'ate' feel about that?
Man, I miss Letterman's Late Show!!! Chessy but quality TV moments.
its cheeky not cheesy..gees
I love how Rupert had to think about when he changed the oil....ummm last week?
Poor Rupert got hung out to dry by Gordon the barbarian😅
What did his good friend, Dave, think was going to happen?
@@Picklesnot-co3k true
The episode referenced is Bonapartes, I believe it is the first episode of the first season of Kitchen Nightmares
I love watching Gordon Ramsey bite into delicious looking food and then says it's bad.
My lord. Ramsey is a complete quisling.
Always loved that Rupert. That sandwich looked awesome. He was a landmark in that area. That was uncalled for by Gordon to call it a pigsty. Arrogance
Methinks it was a joke...
ISSA JOKE
@@doctordankEverybody knew it was a joke, except one person!
Wasn't a joke. Old oil is horrible. Dry and greasy. Go Gordon.

Well, it did look dry. You can be nice and still serve dry sandwiches
Man I miss Dave letterman. ..Rupert such a great sport .I laugh n laughed...that sandwich looked good
No such thing as bad publicity!
5.95$? Damn
That’s a great price for nyc. Even at that time.
lol that's what I was thinking. closed in 2023 but that could have been a $20+ sandwich by then. midtown is crazy
$26 today with tips if used DoorDash $45 wow I born wrong time .
Yeah, 'member when?
This was an obv pre hairplugs Ramsay.😅😅
I never liked Ramsey but, the day he was mean to Rupert was the day I started to despise him.
I'm pretty sure it was a bit
It was 💯 a bit. Rupert was in on the joke.
It was a joke, man. Lighten up. And most of what you see of Gordon is a character, a bit.....
Yep, stop picking on Rupert!
Where’s the lamb sauce
Whatever happened to Rupert? any idea?
You can still get a Letterman sandwich at the Hello Deli for $10.95
Rip
He retired.

How have I not seen this before??
I never saw this either...
It’s Ramsay, not Ramsey
Yeah, his name was always Ramsey now it has always been Ramsay. Huge Mandela Effect change.
@@MoneyBags73 the family name is Ramsay
Wow. Ramsey was a douchbag. Great stuff from Dave and Rupert.
Not at all.
Yup he was . Completely agree. Rupert probably cried when he got home

Lol only Dave, " Hello Deli." Gordan Ramsey was honest in his opinions but $6 for a chicken sandwich is a very reasonable price.
In 2005?
@@jjryan1352That's a big sandwich, and in New York of 2005, that was a good deal. It would be at least $15 mow.

Should have had Pierre White down there waiting.

Can we get his name correct at least?

C'mon channel. Get the name right
It's RAMSAY
Go shout elsewhere, pops.
Shows how out of touch Gordon is with everyday eateries. It’s not supposed to be chicken cordon bleu, Mr Ramsey!
that and the fact that british food is notoriously disgusting. he only became famous because the bar was so low over there.
Gordon is Scottish. He just lives in England.@@bluetextonwhitebg
While visiting New York I didn’t go eat there because of Gordon’s review. Everyone said it’s sooo good! Seemed so dry!!
david letterman
Is that so?
Good job, buddy, that's right! It's David Letterman!
It's a lookalike. Letterman quit.

hi
Salut
Ramsay, not Ramsey.
Built his career on his ego and the F bomb. Food poisoning is too good for him.
Hiiiii dear dave ❤❤❤ how r u ❤❤❤ what s new ❤❤❤❤ we love u ❤❤❤
Gordon Ramsey? Really? The incredibly overexposed reality TV gets a segment on this channel to bore people in 2024 with his act?
Only 5.95 in NY I know it was 20 years ago but that sounds cheap for then or maybe Bidenomics has changed my prospective
