You, sir, are a phenomenal musician! It's dudes like you that inspired me to become a musician as a kid. I was a classical pianist and composer until a massive stroke robbed me of my left hand.
You are so good, I have to request some more.. 1. Dont Stop Believing - Journey 2. Hold The Line - Toto 3. Year of the Cat - Al Stewart 4. Smalltown Boy - Bronski Beat (E -Piano) ...and an Italian.... 5. Caruso - Lucio Dalla (piano strings layer) Thanks
That keyboard does not by far sound like a piano. It does have a nice sound, but not like a piano. Personally, I do not think there is a keyboard out there that actually has a nice piano sound. First off, there are no weighted keys on a keyboard, so that will make it already impossible to even approach the touch and feel of piano (let alone the sound). If you want something to sound like a piano, get a piano. Or, if you don't want the real deal in the house, get at least a digital piano. There are some pretty decent ones out there around, starting at $1,500 I am not commenting on the video, I watched it all and liked it - so thanks Dr. Mix - but when playing piano riffs, please use a (digital) piano, or call them Keyboard Riffs. Still, thumbs up.
@This is a synthesizer, that comes with a powerful FM synthesis engine alongside sampling, and is by no means a toy. and the MODX also come in a 88 keyed version with weighted keys. The Modx have the same library as the Yamaha Montage and, which is the flagship by Yamaha. With 8 dynamic layers and high quality samples, this can compete with stage pianos by brands like dexibell, Roland, Nord and Korg. Of course it Piano sounds sound better when played on a weighted keyboard, but the 61 key version and 76 key version are in return very portable and great for organs and more synth related sounds.
@ no awesome piano sound has to sound like an authentic piano if it sounds awesome in its own right, right? there are more than plenty of pianos that sound dull and generally unpleasant in this world. why immitate when you can overcome obvious shortcomings of cheap pianos? just compare the sound of the swiss cheese piano from your videos with the sound of the MODX. it's like switching from gramophone to SACD.
ok ok , lest recycle ourselves...never is too late, maybe we can connect our old guitars to our computers... and make them sound a bit better! ahhahahahah
Another brilliant video, no faff, just the details - man you are so good at just giving us what we need, and not banging on irrelevantly. Also the skull is freaking me out!
I was inspired, very entertaining and fun. You have clear got the talent but more to the point your delivery was most warmly received. Thank you, I hope one day to say thanks with a hug. :)
This is a nice starting point! Now let's really rock out!! Here is my list of what I'd love for your to cover (in no particular order) Bon Jovi - Runaway Stratovarius - Black Diamond Lionel Ritchie - Dancing On The Ceiling Guns n Roses - November Rain Take On Me - Ah Ha Great Balls Of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis Erurope - The Final Countdown The Doors - Inna Goda Da Vida Dont Stop believing - Journey Soft Cell - Tainted Love Corey Hart - I Wear My Sunglasses At Night Deep Purple - Highway Star The Who - Baba O'Riley
Mate, i've played for the past 40 years. Trained by the best at the Royal Academy of Music in London. You hitting those last chords of the entertainer with those soul, jazz chords.... NICE !!!!!!
Love these videos. Could we see the possibility of famous House Music piano riffs in the future from you guys? I know you'll knock them out of the park!
Your videos are my absolute favourites, they inspire me. I've just started piano lessons and and in learning production with Garageband (soon to be logic) At 40 I'm a bit late into the game but I'm living every second of it. Thank you for your videos they mean a lot to me ❤️
I mean... as a Modx player... who loves piano... to watch Dr Mix do a video on famous piano piece... And he does it using stock Modx patches!! Talk about validation ❤
Jamiroquai. Travelling without moving is a legendary album. Play the CD all the time. Virtual Insanity was instantly addictive the first time I heard it- same album also has samples of a Ferrari engine which any true Italian can appreciate.
Just some suggestions: 1) lonely man by joe Harnell ( incredible hulk theme) 2) Where everyone knows your name by Gary Portnoy (theme from cheers). 3) Desperado by Eagles 4) Green Door by Jim Lowe (Also by Shakin' Stevens) 5) Beer Barrel Polka by Liberace
Jamiroquai always have really interesting chord progressions on their keyboard stuff, with all sorts of altered extensions and suspensions. Matt Johnson from Jamiroquai has a great channel where he shows cool keyboard ideas and talks about synths etc.
Dr mix is amazing. I’d be keen to know are you jazz or classical trained and what was the highest degree of training did you get to. You are very entertaining and I love your vids man. Thank you for sharing
Some of these literally shook me up!! ;) thanks a lot and keep showing more riffs, please :)) ...hold the line from Toto, Runaway from BJ, Pink panther from Mancini, Mission impossible from Schifrin...so many and so little time to play!
VERY NICE Dr. And what a great piano sound from that keyboard. I struggle to get VST's which are convincing enough (with a couple of exceptions). Great watching how effortless you make it look. Respect. :)

That keyboard has an awesome piano sound.

It suits me just fine as a Piano... 🙂
