    These Mark williams tips,for me have been an absolute game changer.I feel theres much less throw on the white and in turn makes me feel that im cueing much straighter.Added bonus was there was literally no bedding in time.Probably all in the head but whatever works!

    • @madaboutsnooker147
      @madaboutsnooker147 Місяць тому +1

      the one thing he and you are trading away for the added accuracy though, is a bit less touch and feel, if you get out of position. Mark can get away with it because hes such a prolific ballstriker. I can honestly say that the softer the tip, the more feel, But the more throw too. So it depends on how far you wanna take the accuracy as there's a tradeoff. I just think the new one he used in the last tournament, audibly sounded like a horrorshow. Click!!! even on slowpoke shots. i reckon I will try the hardness 2 or 3 at one point. but 6... no. :D

    I'm pretty much welded on to Kamui tips these days. Discovered them while playing American pool, then found out that they also make them in 10/11mm as well. Gave one a go, and it's night and day the difference between the Kamui and something like an Elk. I'm sure there are plenty of other great laminated tips out there, but I can't really imagine a tip being much better than a Kamui. I play Kamui black soft on my predator cue, and a kamui black medium on my snooker cue. Perfect for my game.

    Loved the final black pocket. I replaced my tip at least twice and bedding in seemed to take ages. An old guy at the club I used told me to bounce the cue on the floor, tip first obviously. Not sure if it did speed things up but it seemed good advice. Good post, thanks 👍

      @@Breakfromlife I've always just made them flush, both for aesthetic preference and I just buy the exact diameter 9.5mm as my ferrule and got used to fitting them on accurately. Just makes it way less hassle, no trimming and such. But I have sometimes wondered if a little overhang on the tip might actually help add a fraction more grip on the edge to avoid miscuing. You could even try a video experiment for that. Just play a ton of extreme top spin shots from tight against a cushion, and a ton of extreme screwbacks with a flush tip and an overhanging tip. I wonder if it could possibly cut down on miscues?

    • @joelmarriott9015
      @joelmarriott9015 Місяць тому

      @@DM-kv9kj personally, I think it cuts down on miscues with backspin, off the cushion about the same, cueing over balls can be more awkward and prone to fouls though.

If you hit the ball soft, a soft or medium tip is fine. If you hit a bit more firmer, you need hard or super hard. That's from my experience anyway. Problem with Elkmaster is that you have to plough through quite a few tips in the box to find one decent one ,better quality tips cost more but are more consistent,I use a century g3 now ,plays in instantly.Going to a very excessively hard tip will take away screw power to some extent ,that suits Williams but most pros don’t use anything anywhere near as hard .As for less deflection the hard tip will help as will a titanium ferule and a stiff cue .

    • @simonbriggs6332
      @simonbriggs6332 Місяць тому

      I find that new bags of elk master tips are much more consistent these days. It’s like Tweeten have standardised there manufacture process for the tip. When you open the bag they all look identical and tend to be medium to firm now - which is good if you like firmer tips but if you like soft tips your struggling.
      A couple of years ago when they came in boxes you could have a tip that was soo soft you could almost pull it apart once you’d glued it to your cue right up to medium firm tips - it was a bit like pot luck
