Hehe no worries. My boyfriend has taken some surf lessons, but he just does it for fun. We're just looking forward to some relaxation, culture and baking on the beach! We're starting out in Mexico City then heading to Oaxaca and finishing vacay in PE. Only 5 months from now!
Have watched a lot of surfing footage and the speed these guys are going is insane! I guess other places may be as a fast or faster, but this just looks the fastest to me!! Balls of titanium!!
I don't mean to bust your bubble but Escondido is a summertime break getting swells from the southern hemisphere. It's flat in December. You will still have a great time. The mountainous beauty of the place is overwhelming. Waves like these are extremely dangerous.
I remember back in 80s guys like Slade , Bill Weir ( Bomber Bill ) Ron Briggs , Keith Sinko and a few more hell men would hang for months just waiting for days like this , Paddle in on there 9'0" single fins ( no leash ) and blow minds out at far bar . no skis we had to paddle out from the harbor when it got big ,,
whoa quite literally that is some of the most insane and heaviest surfing I've ever seen, some of those barrels those guys went for, particulrly the rights, were just outrageously insane...be fucked if i'd surf that, it's so heavy...much respect...MUCH..!!!
I surfed huge Puerto back in the 80’s & there was just 2 of out & no lifeguards. It is extremely hollow & breaks as hard as Pipeline & I’ve been bounced off of the bottom a few times. We had no floatation vests, only a large set of balls. It is pretty damn spooky out there when it’s big.
Hehe that's okay. I can't swim very well, so no waves is good for me lol. It would be nice to watch the surfers, but we're not surfers just looking for warm weather that isn't an all inclusive drunk fest resort :)
im guessin upwards of 45 seconds. wouldnt know for sure though.. ive been held under for a while on waves that dont even approach the scale of those monsters
i know that I just meant the size of the wave. pipe doesn't to the point you have to tow in. we had a day like that at pipe this past winter but it doesn't often

Surfed Puerto back in 84-85 and was amazed by its power and the fact that a beach break can hold this kind of size.

it's a really hard wave to paddle into because of all the water sucking out due to it's close proximity to the beach
