Very surprised you don't have more subscribers. This is the best fly fishing channel out there! Especially when you have characters like the great Eric Shores on there. Well done!
Nice job Will. Well produced film, photography, drone stuff, music and that beautifully fat face of Capt' Eric Shores. Enjoy your present journey, be safe and hope to meet you soon. And congratulations on the two permit, especially the DIY, no guide, in the surf.
God bless you. Everyone is in the same club. The world needs some of that right now. Also, what has to happen to get you more views brother. Between you and Scottie, I think ya'll are the best out there when it comes to fishing videos.

I did something similar for a month. Rented a car and traveled up and down from Punticlub to Xcalax. Mixed in a few guided days as well. I was able to catch bones, a permit and triggers from the flats. Caught a tarpon with the guide. Fun times!
Awesome video Will! You inspired me go to Blue Horizons in Placencia. Me and a bunch of other Sewanee guys are headed down in 14 days, you should join us!!
Dang that sounds awesome! Y'all are gonna have a great time down there. Wish I could join but I already have some plans to work on another film! Thanks for the invite!
One day.... Ive caught black rock bass, Lingcod an surf Perch with the fly on the pacitic coast, its time to go find that backdoor somewhere like this!
You guys just filmed my retirement trip in less than a year away. My plan is to go to the same town. I was wondering how was the drive and was there enough fishing just up and down the beach. Is there guides right in town?
You can always tell when a fly fishermen that lives up north, is a newb to the saltwater, because they always drop their reel in the salt. Mostly, they lean to a younger gen that wants that "pic," depicting how cool they are holding that fish while there reel was dropped in the water. But serious saltwater veterans just laugh at those pics. Now take a look at the serious fly fishermen that lives in the salt and has decades of experience hard fishing the salt under his/her belt. You'll never see them drop or purposely dunk the reels in the saltwater, no matter how good the reel was made. Ask yourself that question.... "why is that?"
Relax. Even reels that don't have sealed drags (Tibor, Galvan, etc.) can be rinsed in freshwater everyday and still be bulletproof. If you fly fish in the surf where sand is an issue, still not a big deal. Just maintain your reel. Rinse it. And you think guys weren't taking pictures of the fish they caught in the 50s, 60s, 70s?
@@bobthatsme9251 Freshwater dunking, yeah ok. Saltwater dunking? Bro, you don't live full time around the salt, otherwise, you, back tract that statement. Saltwater is simply more corrosive than you can imagine and a quick rinse could only drive the salt even further into the reels and bearings where it's hard to get to. Anodized aluminum reels are salt resistant, not salt proof.
This should be a series. Fishing, story telling, cinematography, music....it all was done superbly.
I appreciate it Shep. I'm hoping to make some more vids soon, but likely in the fresh.
So good! What town are you in?

Imo one of your best yet... I assume this is the east cost of Mexico, in the gulf?
Thanks, Chris! Yup that's correct

So sick!
Do you mind sharing the camera you were using?
Backdoor is always the better choice. Take the plane to Austria/Europe and I'll show you the backcountry of the Alps! cheers
Always! I'll give you a shout if I'm ever headed that way
dope video

Mag Bay?
Top five fly fishing films and it's only fifteen minutes long!
Thanks for the kind words!
Without giving the exact location, what area of Mexico did you guys fish?
This area is on the Yuctan Peninsula in the Quintana Roo state. Lots of good fishing down there
I would like to move to Mexico and do this for ever.
If Anyone can help me or has the same ideas please let me know 🙏🏻
DOPE

Glad y'all had a good time. However, it's not a DIY if you hire a guide.
