I'm just fixing one that our daughters dog ran through four years ago. Now that her dog no longer with us, it's time fix it due to mosquitos and bugs getting inside
Putting in that little piece of spline to hold up the screen as you start is a great tip. Previously i'd used masking tape. Your technique is much easier and doesn't waste so much tape. Well explained video. You don't know how frustrated i was in the past because i didn't understand the difference between "flat spline" and the other rounded spline. Thank you for making this video. Time to fix my screen now.
Glad I found your video. I can't tackle the cage roof screens, but I can definitely redo the bottom panels myself.. at $60/screen, this will save a lot of money!
Never saw someone intentionally damage it- but alright. Went through Hurricane Ian, insurance is scrambling down here not to pay unless you meet deductible. This is 1 year old & we spent thousands on the screen front & back of the house. Someone's trampoline came crashing into the house damaging screen area. & minor dent in door. Grateful it missed the window by a foot! Trying to get everything back to normal so we are doing lots ourselves. Thanks for this video, helps a whole lot. God Bless You.
@@how2af263 Your video helped us fix the screen after the trampoline hit it & damaged screen enclosure & door. Many Thank you's for this video!! Now on to the PVC fence that was damaged in several places due to the wind of Ian. Taking one step at a time.
Great video buddy, I love how people come to watch this video because they don’t know what they are doing, then they want to give YOU advice on how to do it, LOL
I'm facing my first attempt to replace the screen. You make it look easy and I feel confident I can handle it thanks to you. Only thing I don't have is the pick and will try small blade screwdriver and pliers before going out and buying a pick. Down here in Florida I get a 10% discount on everything at Lowes. Only thing I won't try being an old guy is replacing the screen over the pool. I don't know how I could safely get on top of it without falling.
Good job Brother.... Just got my stuff delivered, screen and spline from Amazon. I, too. am an Ian casualty to a smaller extent. Two panels up top on a pool enclosure....will start at the top and work my way down.
I was having a hard time trimming the screen as the razor kept slipping and cutting the white frame members. Turns out I put the spline in with flat side out. I hope I will find the screen trimming part go much smoother after I put the flat side in. Great advice - looking forward to better results.
Thank you. That flat spline was kicking the crap out of me until I saw your video because up until now I have only used the round which rolls right in.
Just FYI that screen roller tool is from Screen Tight it has a hook razor screen cutter on the other end. This is one of the best screen install tools and it is larger than others. Got mine at Lowes.
What you call the "round side" is not round, it is the side with a radius. The radius is actually the radius of curvature for a diameter or a circular sphere.
When you do the sides pull the screen tight then roll the spline down. We followed the directions it came out perfect. Try again and make sure you pull the screen tight then seal.
The screen repairing music really helps the process go smoothly.
Thank you sir, you knowledge helped me and I started to repair saving 3k. You sir are a legend

Best trick was to use a small piece of spline to lock it in place at the top. Good tip.

There was already a rip in that screen if you look closely.
Good close-up shows flat edge of spline facing pool. Slightly curved edge faces away from pool, towards worker.

Question… Do I buy new spline or reuse what was in there?
Hello
I used new because the old may have become brittle and may have sun damage. Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed the video.
@@how2af263 Very informative! Thank you!
What do you do it if the screen is attached with metal spline?
Thank you so much .👏👏👏
I’m glad you found it helpful!
Good 👍
How do I replace a screen that has one corner under cable tie down bracket? I can't find any help on line. Thanks
Hello if I was facing this situation I would remove the item temporarily out of the way. Thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed the video.
@@how2af263 That's what I thought. Thanks
You’re putting spline in backwards. Flat side goes out. I know this cause they make spline with rounded side bright orange so you know to put it in.
Wrong. Flat side goes down.
Nope. Flat side always should face in.
Very helpful!
So glad!
Thanks man I was doing it all wrong before this video lol I have a metal roller but I’m just gonna have to go slow. I’m broke to buy another one lol
Thank you!
Great video
Thanks good video ❤
Whatbwould be the prie for what you just did?
Thank you.
❤Thanks!
They sell clips to hold the screen while installing the spline.
What you call the "round side" is not round, it is the side with a radius. The radius is actually the radius of curvature for a diameter or a circular sphere.
Thank you for the clarification.
thanks a lot !!
Sounds like a Woody Harrelson's screening lol
My main hope for myself is to be where I am.
why do I see everyone using a concave roller intended to roll round spline to roll flat spline?
That's because he doesn't know what he's doing. He's also rolling the spline in the wrong direction
Thank you
"Has this ever happened to you?"
I followed directions perfectly, ended up bad, totally loose
