Speaking in religious terms, what is understood by enlightenment or achieving that PEACE and HAPPINESS is a GRACE that is given to us not in a mechanical way after practices,meditations,prayers and desires to achieve it, but I would almost say "miraculously" from above (UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS). That is why only some people, usually mystics and some people from the East, have achieved that GRACE. The rest of us human beings have to continue to desire it and investigate it and be lucky enough to receive that GRACE at some point in our existence.
Even the term "being aware of being aware" doesn't quite cut it, as it still implies some degree of objectivity. We typically use the term "aware" in the context of being specifically cognizant of "something", but to fully rest in unconditioned awareness means to me TO BE without any knowing like a new born--the intellect is at rest where terms such as awareness is meaningless, there is simply just being.
Once you’ve come to this understanding the word ”being” makes more sense but for someone who hasn’t come to the realization awareness is prob a better reference... at least from what I remember how I use to conceptualize the word “being” before I experienced non duality.
The point of the pointers 😊, like Rupert's "Am I aware?", or those of Ramana and Nisargadatta, is to "Shift the Awareness beyond the Mind", as Nisargadatta nicely put it. It's not an intellectual game - where the mind ends, starts the peace, love, joy, the Sat-Chit-Ananda / Pure Awareness / Self.
Non-Dual awareness makes a nice cocktail with Taoist Esoteric Yoga with the identification as pakua removed - suppose that makes Zen.. Don't know about Tantric stuff
CONSCIOUSNESS modulates itself to form the mind. This one, being finite, cannot directly access CONSCIOUSNESS which is infinite, unlimited and is not an object. The mind, although paradoxically formed of CONSCIOUSNESS, can only know objects. Where is that Love, Peace and Happiness supposedly coming from CONSCIOUSNESS ? In all this, human beings, by their nature, yearn for love, peace and happiness. However, that longing causes him suffering. So he creates religious associations, politicizing that yearning.
