    INTJ problems:
    1. Forgetting thougts that you just had 1 minute ago.

It's not that we* hate rules. We hate bad rules. Good rules are fine and, in fact, welcome. Trouble is that most people have no idea which rules are bad and which rules are good.
*"We" as in a very large majority of INTJs. I can't speak for ALL of them, but I'm fairly confident that a vast majority would agree about this.

    • @Discordian42
      @Discordian42 6 років тому +49

I think it is more about hating the dogmatic interpretation of rules. Rules generally exist as a simplification of reality to force *mostly* rightful behavior without having to question and to understand the big picture. We want (or even need) to understand the big picture and draw our own, superior conclusions that take situational factors into account for an adaptive, ultimately better result. If you understand a rule and do not just blindly obey it, you can modify it to changed parameters and overcome its limitations.

likewise, save that I was told something was wrong with me. treated poorly because of this by teachers. (they assumed I was faking, lying when I offered input, my thoughts, my feelings, even my recollection of events then they said I was being difficult or not social etc) to my mom one teacher literally said she didn't understand me, I was an enigma for her. I didn't act like other kids my age. it went so bad I was sent to a psychiatrist to once and for all determine what 'mental problem' I had, doing many tests including IQ and just talks. her conclusion what that I was a perfectly normal young man, just ahead of my age in a number of areas. years of mental abuse because they didn't bother to understand me. to actually listen to me, give me room to breathe.

Not caring what other people think about you and pursuing whatever it is you want to do, regardless of how it looks (even little things), is a big difference I think. Also, having the willpower to follow big things through, when most other people give up - it creates a lot of envy and some people don't like to be around achievers. I've decide to have a radar out for people who build-up others, not try to pull them down. Can you relate to this?

I simply don't have that high-level Sensing to do all the maintenance. Yet, I still have all my fish stuff packed up in about 15 of those big Rubbermaid tubs in my garage. I understand what you mean. Nothing feels quite as good as reaching a goal you've been trying to reach, but then nothing feels quite as empty as coming down from that high. And I agree with you that it's a mistake to define yourself in terms of your job, but unfortunately, most of us (males, me included) buy into that formulation and we feel like "nothing" when we don't have a job. INTJ's in particular (I've known a few others like myself) tend to get bored after having mastered a particular career and look for a new one that will challenge them. Other types don't do that. Anyway, I was advised to find "process" goals rather than "end" goals, find something that you can work to reach on a daily or weekly basis rather than a grand scheme that will leave you feeling elated but only temporarily before you have to pick another grand scheme. I have both now since I'm not willing to give up on the grand world-changing goals.

Andrew Province I get accused of having an ego problem before people really get to know me. My perception in these patterns and that I see as an intj lead me to have a very Taoist perspective of existence. The difference might be because I am a grunt by Nature I often see myself as expendable. I have been working on a holistic approach to fixing our country for nearly 40 years now and I don't expect to be remembered for my work:
what's important to me is the implementation of my ideas which involve
      natural law
      declarationism constitutionalism
and a tribalist economy similar to what is used on reservations.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. It is essentially the Tao of Americanism®
I have spent so long on this I'm convinced I figured it out and I value feedback very much. It's nice to have someone listen but it is so much better when they look at the idea and are blown away and inspired. It's not me that is important it's the idea.
I have decided that my talents, intj and all, are there to serve my community my country Humanity and all life. Since I fully realized this I have noticed people are not being pushed away buy my ideas because it isn't about me it's about them it's about our children our future. It's about interpersonal relationships.
I highly recommend The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
And deep and simple Bo Lozoff
Native science by Gregory Cajete: I think intjs are Naturals in Native science.
Perhaps this contains the solution to Ego that you are looking for.

I've had similar thoughts, tried to change and be nicer to people, but I felt miserable instead. Just be who you are and if that involves you pushing too many people away, so be it. There will be people who you'll get along with, eventually. Just don't be too much of a nazi, give people the benefit of the doubt.

    • @louise2172
      @louise2172 6 років тому +9

Andrew, don't worry about it. People are just misunderstanding you. Someone below mentions that this perception changes once people get to know you well - and I have experienced that also. The people who are worth it will stick around to find out, without judging you so quickly. You can't be somebody you are not in the long-term. I have to dumb myself down when around certain people (mainly my family), but that's through necessity. In general, you have to let people go who are quick to judge you or take offence - it is their own limitations and/or self-esteem. Seek out people who think in a similar way to you, and who you have things in common with.

This is real. Being an intj, it’s hard and lonely. It’s so lonely because you constantly see things more deeply and differently. People never understand the emotional burden of being a contrarian - it kinda sucks in practicality. Ni repression with Se overload - really real and dangerous. I just feel like I cannot be a “normal” person. But I don’t want to be either. I think the intj’s only real shot at self-fulfillment is large scale disruption and building a new system on top. Nobody wants that, people want the world to stay in status quo so they reject these alternative perspectives. I think Te is basically the intj’s only real road to salvation - to realise those unique perspectives in the external world. It’s hard though, we lead by Ni. Being an intj - the potential payoff is huge but the journey is so treacherous and because of that the probability of realization low. Can be done though. But takes real courage and real skill in emotional and self-management.

As a fellow INTJ myself with strong sensing, extraversion and perception tendencies , I would say that normal is something that doesn't actually exist because everyone is a minority of one in personality. However, this is a blessing in disguise because you need people who are different from you to understand you, give you compliments and complaints and do other things so that the world keeps going round. I hope I have not stepped on anyone's toes by now.

The thing that doesn't quite sit right with me about this typology thing is that people might start trying to behave consistently with their type in order to feel secure about who they are, instead of growing as a human being and allowing for the their personality to be nuanced and dynamic.
When I was a teenager I tested as an INTP later as an INFJ and now that I'm 31 I tested as an INTJ, so obviously people change with the various encounters they go through in life. Minor errors in home projects I worked on years ago still annoy me, while others don't even notice the errors or don't think they're a big deal. I have a hard time connecting with other people (I don't have any close friends), including family, and I have to force myself to send an occasional text message or make a phone call. At work, my lead is a bit sloppy and is constantly late for meetings - UGH! I actually played her same role for about 15 years prior to my current position, so I'm constantly reorganizing her documents and hinting at improvements. Inside, I'm gritting my teeth the whole time, but I try to remind myself that we're all different and to be patient.

I think one of the most INTJ things I've ever done, was when I was a kid (around 13 or 14), I had a board game I liked that had 2 ways to play it, with respective stories and goals and rules. I decided I didn't like either of them, so I went and made a 3rd way to play. Got on my computer and typed up a whole paper on it. Made up a whole storyline, new objectives and rules. Always played it that way from then on because it was a more interesting way to play the game.
Found that game again up in my closet in a box recently. Took a look at it again. I may have come up with it as a kid, but it still checks out. I covered all the bases, none of the rules conflict, the objectives make sense with the storyline.. all in all pretty solid. 😂👌

    2. A peace of mind about “casual romance” (aka “normal” dating) not sitting right with me. I was beating myself up for “not being open enough/seizing the moment”, but it seems like my brain just isn’t able to start the whole attraction mechanism unless I’m 100.0% into the person and would like to be with them forever. Extremely accurate as a 38 year old INTJ. The older you get, the more defined, clear, and easily identified these traits become. I have naturally been more empathetic than how INTJs are typically described most of my life. I also believe if you are truly an intelligent INTJ, you will begin to teach yourself how to be more tolerable of others that do not think or process information like you do. In doing this, your patience for others as well as your ability to increase the amount of empathy and compassion you have for others will begin to increase. If you can do this as you gain wisdom with age as an INTJ, along with your natural strengths, you can become an extremely powerful force to be reckoned with in a positive and uplifting way for humanity.

INTJ artist here 🎨 I don’t believe in “everything happens for a reason” but I like to search connections, actual causes of things that happened. I tend to feel lonely and like nobody is seeing everything that surrounds us. I feel like this type of personality fits me because I tend to strategise a lot but then easily get distracted in the middle of the plan, so I make another strategy to adjust to the time I have left. I relate to the feeling of spending hours drawing while my mind drifts away from reality. If anyone reads this, I want to recommend the movie “Perfect Blue”, it displays a mix between reality and illusion and it’s one of my favourites.

Thank you for this video. I felt everything you were describing. Being an INTJ is not easy, and there arent many around us who are similar or even understand what it's like, especially in relationships

      "especially in relationships"
      🧠True that.
I'm in love with a girl, but can't tell her that I like her, because I have no idea if she is the 1 for me.
🙄Rationally I know & understand that the only way to find out is through experience, but emotionally I can't accept this, cauz I don't like gettin' hurt emotionally.
😎Outside a relationship I'm confident & independant, cauz nothin' can hurt me emotionally since I know who I am, so a simple rejection wouldn't hurt me at all.
🤓The complete opposite is true in havin' a relationship, where who I am also depends on my significant other and a rejection by her will hurt me deeply & emotionally.

I research neural networks and AI. It never stops to amaze me that Ni works very similarly to how a neural network learns subjective concepts and patterns. Neural networks follow a non-linear process and they reach an answer somewhat out of the blue - just like how Ni leads tap into their unconscious. Ni is the most in touch function to our biological information processing structure.

I took the test and came up INTJ. Had to chuckle about each of the points like someone was peaking into my brain. My Dad told me when I was little ,that I never stopped asking questions. I still don't understand why people don't want to know why about everything. It's like breathing for me. Comes naturally.

This appeared on my list as a suggested video, and I'm certainly thankful I made the choice to watch it! As a relative newbie to all things MBTI, I've been watching videos by a wide variety of UA-camrs on the INTJ. Yours, by far, has been the most informative, and your presentation was clear, well thought out, and easy to understand. You''re a superb teacher -- you seem to have a natural inclination. Looking very forward to more of your videos!! Thanks!!

This was amazingly informative. Never realized how predictable I am. It answers a lot of questions, namely what I want to do with my life. It's funny I'm absolutely power hungry, but have zero interest in leadership. I.e. I want to be the guy the boss consults with, it's useful to know that.

@@klm2fm4, I notice a lot of people want to be "unique" and "rare" and hence self-identify as INTJs when they're not; honestly, online tests aren't accurate. Only inventories administered and interpreted by specially trained and licensed psychometrists or psychologists are really valid.

And I guess technically typing yourself with Cognitive Functions while staying true to yourself helps
I did a crap ton of tests that said I was an INTJ, but I didn't resonate with it so I compared functions and found out I was an INFJ
After that I found out I was an INFJ 5w6, so that's probably why I was said to be an INTJ a lot

    I have an INTJ personality.
First, I resented being pigeon-holed with a label.
Second, I had to laugh at myself because it fits too well.
Third, I got a quantitative result on why I've been such an oddball!

my friends and i go to the movies frequently , which is fun. I enjoy
trying to figure out the story before it plays out. on movies I have
never seen I whisper what i think will happen and how I believe the
directors plan to develop the characters. its fun because I don't have to
explain how i figure it out and my friends enjoy it because its become a
game of who can figure out the movie before it happens first. but yeah
the trick is understanding other perspectives and types of stories.
    then how they relate.

Char char :3 A movie I love because it’s not exactly easy to figure out, there are lots of things to digest in it, is Donnie Darko. It’s been one of the only movies I’ve found that really worked out my mind. I wonder if other INTJs like that movie. So many movies are so easy to figure out for me, even Inception, everyone said it was so intellectual and mysterious...I knew what was coming a quarter way through. But Donnie Darko, that’s a mental feast of a movie.

Connections! Nailed it. I tell people about that and explain it all the time. People look at me like I’m speaking Japanese! Flat affect. They don’t have a clue about how things fit together. This is the best video on the net by the way! When I see patterns-I recognize it and act accordingly. Some would call that PTSD! Haha

I’m an INTJ. u described my character too accurately. quite unnerving.
my wife asked me why/how did i come to the conclusion that i want to marry her, i told her, i played out different types of scenarios in my head and based it on past experiences with her and decide if she’s suitable for me.
that’s exactly how u described it in the video. so cool man. 👍🏿
