As a software engineer who has never touched a professional video editing app before, I was able to do what I wanted in 5 minutes, including DaVinci Resolve installation. So much mucking around from other content creators who take 15mins to show this simple task. Thank you for not wasting my time. Subbed with bell notifs.
I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!! Love your short n' sweet tutorials, no more watching through 10+ min videos for something that can be explained in 1/10 of the time required. Definitely subscribed!
Thank you! I really appreciate how you don't spend forever talking about why Davinci is such a good editing program, etc. Found out the information I needed in seconds!
Wow, didn't know about the handles, good to know about this alternative. It seems you can just use them, unless you need advanced fading settings like easing, so in this video it would work too.
In this instance, that would wok. But the cross dissolve works with both fading in and out AND transitions between videos. SO its just easier to do one thing but the handles works for what is displayed in this video.
If looking to Batch Fade VIDEO, (DaVinci 18) - Go to Cut Tab at bottom - Highlight all video clips desired - Open Transitions Tab beside Media Pool Tab - Right click Additive Dissolve (or another dissolve of your choice) - Add to Selected Clips and Points Hope it helps. -Some guy on the internet
Anyone else have an issue where the dissolve won’t place on the video at all? I looked at your tutorial on transitions not placing, but that doesn’t fix it either.
This program is so frustrating to use. The version I've downloaded doesn't have the same UI as this vide but I found the dissolve somehow. I was able to apply it to the beginning of my clip but it won't apply to the end. I have no idea why. I've tried everything. I'm so frustrated with this program. I'm coming from Adobe Premier but I can't afford for their payment scheme...
I have 3 video tracks one on top of the other and I want to do a master video bus fade out so everything fades at the same time. How can I do that? Pls someone help me
Works for the most part except when having the fade transition two videos. Sometimes when fading out one clip to another it will fade in the previous clip then jump to the next clip at the end of the transition. Any help?
How do you fade out a clip while also trying to do another transition with the clip coming after it? Like say I want my first clip to fade to black while the barn door effect happens on the incoming clip. When I do this using the arrow above the clip it works until you get to the opening of the 2nd clip and then it's not faded anymore - like it goes back to the original color before the black started.
hey there, wondering why the dissolve effect has a light color to it? is there any way to make it appear as fading in and out to black but using the same effect?
Doesn't work. I drag it and drop it and absolutely nothing happens. No effect is applied what-so-ever and the input doesn't even register in the History. No idea what's going on.
Actually, I would say Dip To Color Dissolve is much better for this. Just change color to black in Inspector and you can use it also as transition between specific clips not just beginning and end. Good tutorial though! Keep it up!
What's the name of the person who created this very helpful and succinct video? I'd like to watch any videos he has re: creating animated titles and trimming video clips in the Edit Page Thank you so much!!
Short and sweet and to the point. Tired of seeing 10 minute long videos telling me how to do something you took about a minute to explain. Subscribed!

Love your channel! Simple 1-minute tutorials instead of 10 minute long ones that are mostly self promotion or rambling.
Thank you! I really appreciate how you don't spend forever talking about why Davinci is such a good editing program, etc. Found out the information I needed in seconds!
Thank you for quickly getting to the subject at hand while not practicing in bloat and self-indulgence. Very refreshing! New subscriber.

Its like Davinci Resolve as taught by an ace sniper, Your videos are the best !!!!
Thank you for these precise videos. Most of the instructors spend five minutes telling us how they aren't going to waste any time.

I'm gonna be leaving a lot of thank you comments over the next week, I can already tell. Soo thanks!
Is there any particular reason that you don't use the clip's fade handles in this simple instance?
Wow, didn't know about the handles, good to know about this alternative. It seems you can just use them, unless you need advanced fading settings like easing, so in this video it would work too.

Wonderful, and this method also gives you the ability to add some easing, or customise the timing to your needs.
Thanks

Great short videos
i seem to be having the problem of only being able to add transitions at the end of a clip only
Hi, is there a way to add the dissolve to every clip in the project (e.g. for a photo/ video slideshow) without manually doing each clip?
How do you fade out a clip while also trying to do another transition with the clip coming after it? Like say I want my first clip to fade to black while the barn door effect happens on the incoming clip. When I do this using the arrow above the clip it works until you get to the opening of the 2nd clip and then it's not faded anymore - like it goes back to the original color before the black started.
short and clear! well done
hey there, wondering why the dissolve effect has a light color to it? is there any way to make it appear as fading in and out to black but using the same effect?

When you have multiple layers e.g. video file layer 1, graphic layer 2, how do you fade both correctly?
Thank you! Helped a lot!
Excellent. Tnx.

Doesn't work. I drag it and drop it and absolutely nothing happens. No effect is applied what-so-ever and the input doesn't even register in the History. No idea what's going on.

Can an entire video be faded... eg) So a 5 minute video be faintly seen for it's entirety?
What's the best length for fade in ?
