    You can switch from VFO-(Frequency mode) to/ Channel memory mode by switching it off then holding Menu and turning it back on.

    Excellent overview of the UV-9G. Thank you! It was a little clunky attaching the programming cable. At first I couldn't get it to work on CHIRP but when I set the Port like you showed, it worked. Many thanks.

    Great tutorial on programming. Especially liked how to set ctcss codes for duplex and simplex channels! Thanks for testing the output power! U have two if these and got a low power reading but thought my meter was inaccurate. Batteries that come with these units probably don't have enough juice to power the radio over 4 watts.

    Thank for opening the manual and showing us what weve already read. What no one on youtube can ever do is a how-to in chirp when you have a repeater that requires both transmit and receive DCS tones. Not a one shows it. Actually show hos its imput. Problme is there is no drop down for DCS145N. And you cant manually enter it in the field. They all do they same thing, see here's my list and as you can see my offsets are XYZ. Wonderful, well, what happens when you have 467.725 Transmit on a repeater, which isnt in the Chirp list that needs a transmit code of DCS 145N ? Yea, see. This is why i managed to buy a uV-9G for $15 bucks on facebook market. They give up. Im right behind this poor guy. He too was frustrated. we have loads of repeaters here. We get our licenses, we blow money, and we jump through the things we have to to get permission to use the repeaters. okay so we do all that and become members of their facebook groups, we do the required introduction but I count 11 new guys in the group who have asked questions and got nothing. Its like they got us in and left us to rot. BUT!!! hey give us a donation to keep running our repeaters? ANd we all did. THe only help Ive ever received from this group, who use 10! repeaters is a guy who just joined 8 days ago. None of these veteran hams offer even so much as a welcome. I donated my hard earned $50 and what do we get? Nothing. We have 135 memebers of this gorup with access to 11 repeaters, of which only 5 are active on the repeaters. And theyre all hams. I feel they got us in, used our cash to run their repeaters, and left us to rot. I think this is why the Midland GMRS radios are so popular. Simple, 1-22 channels, DONE! easy. No offsets, no TOne codes, none of that grabage.

    I cannot get the FM to come through OR show up on the display. After reading on forums and reviews, I’ve notice many others saying that some radios are from an older stock when we had the chip crisis, and Baofeng did not put chips in some of these UV9Gs. Any issue on your end?

      @@dr.christophergroves2116 For GMRS channels 1 - 22 are simplex so there is no need to program anything in. These are hit and miss if someone is on them. Channels 23 - 30 are designated for repeaters. these may or may not need a PL Tone (CTCSS). In the radio you should be able to set up multiple sets of these repeaters. sometimes they are called DIY. Beginning at 5:00 I show how to program the radio with the company software, CHIRP as well as manually. To find repeaters in your area check out this website, mygmrs.com. And for the list of frequencies for GMRS there is this website, www.rightchannelradios.com/blogs/newsletters/gmrs-radio-frequencies-and-channels . Let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @WJ6FRadio
      @WJ6FRadio  Рік тому

      Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Since each radio is different it is not possible to say definitively which frequency would have the highest power output. Also, the difference of power between any frequency is most likely negligible.

    The DIY channels seem pretty useless. You suggested that a person can program repeaters into the DIY channels 31-127 -- but if you do, you can't transmit on them. Baofeng says channels 31-127 are scanner only channels. I understand their design is supposed to block transmissions onto restricted frequencies, but why did they design it to block transmissions onto legal gmrs frequencies?
