NICE!!! Just got this for Christmas and (attempted to) play last night. We were all over the place. Been watching videos for a few hours and yours was the best at explaining. Remember "a card laid is a card played". lol

@@LisaandKyleGetBoard HI so i am I am new to playing skip-bo, and am in the process of enjoying the game as well as learning the rules and such. I believe the individual that is teaching me, may be wrong and/or confused about one of the rules, regarding a skip-bo (wild-card) and the ways in playing one. The exact situation is this; (hope I can explain it, in terms of understanding)
It’s me and him playing only, as it’s his turn, and he puts a skip-bo (wild card) down, in his 4th column in his discard piles. So I ask him, "what care you naming (calling) that wild card as?? he replies " i have not decided yet, but its wild and its in my discard pile, so I can wait to decide what number it will be until I need to" I said that cant be right, bc as soon as a wild card hits the table, it needs to be a numbered card. Its wild (unnumbered) in your hand, but as soon as it makes an appearance, it has to stand for something, it cant stay unaffiliated. Am I being clear in what I am asking? lol love your video!
@adorable3817 This is over 3 years late, but we kinda fell off the face of UA-cam and we're just getting back. I appreciate your feedback of sharing our thought process more and agree. We are trying to improve that because we do think it would be helpful.
As for your question... it depends. Most of the time I will keep a wild for when I need it, sometimes even gaining a little stock pile, but there are times when I don't and just want to draw more cards my next turn, or when I have played four from my hand and want to draw five new cards to keep going then I would definitely play it.
Everyone has their own strategies and the more you play, the more you figure out yours. I hope that helps!
@staciagoskey381 Sorry this is so late and I truly hope you came to an agreement by now, but now that we are back to playing games I wanted to offer our insight. We had actually never thought of this and so when we looked for an answer we found this in a newer Skip-Bo rule book:
"At the end of your turn, you will dicard ANY one card from your hand onto ANY of your discard piles. They do NOT have to be in sequential order.)
On your turn you may play the top cards from any of your discard piles onto any of the building piles, if there's an available play."
I was totally with you when I read the situation, however it sounds like it is allowed and Kyle thinks your person might be a genius. It's definitely a new strategy to us, but now that we know, it might change the game a bit for us.

Great job guys! For Christmas 2020 I purchased this for my eight year old son. He and I played it all night and loved it. I was completely lost with the directions. I looked at other videos and still didn’t catch on until watching you guys. You explained clearly so that anyone can understand. Thank you and I plan to keep watching

Way back in 1991/92 my soon to be husband and I were addicted to playing this together. I remember being so disappointed and annoyed when he started to get sick of it.
No idea where the ex husband is but I found skip Bo at Big W a few weeks ago. Looking forward to playing it with my son.

One of my favorite games on the iPad is called spite and malice. I’ve been playing for a long time but just found out it’s actually the same as skip bo. I’m running out to buy the deck and actively look for a victim

I’m picking up skipbo at Target after work. I have a question about the draw pile. It looks like when the guy ran out of cards in his hand and was still playing he picked up more from
the draw pile but it looked as though when she ran out of cards in her hand she did not pick up from the draw pile.
A couple times I’m not sure what she did wrong in her play that she wanted to take back. (I did notice her not playing the 11 & 12)
She didn’t draw because she placed her last card on the discard rather than build. Ie she couldn’t move so had to discard her last card. He however was able to play every card so picked up 5 more. Playing your own discard pile is optional so you play tactically.

Uno is a very similar game and great fun as you can directly influence other players hands / cards
This is super late, but a few of our favorites from when we were newlyweds (besides the ones you have) are Tenzi, Gubs, Sorry, Settlers of Catan, and Dicecapades. 😊

You can play Skip-Bo with 2-6 players. 😊

What if you dont have a 1 or skip bo card when the first player starts??
Or none of the players have? How do you start the game??
Great question. If no one has a 1 or a skip-bo you just keep taking turns drawing and discarding until someone can go. Does that make sense? Hopefully that helps... and sorry this response is so late. 😅

What happens when you have no discard..?? Like When your on your turn your last card in hand plays?
i think that’s when you get to draw 5 more and keep playing
@@gabidoo9304 That's exactly it-- if you use all 5 cards in hand in a turn, you get to draw 5 more and keep going; turn only ends when you cannot play a card (whether advancing in the stock pile, playing from your hand, or playing from a discard pile); you then discard one to a discard pile (possibly to later be played if space is available).
It appears that the players do not recognise a six card from a nine because on two occasions a nine was played as a six.
I do feel like we are generally pretty good at catching that type of thing, but apologize if we missed a couple. We were a bit nervous. 😅 Hopefully it didn't make the instructions confusing.
Can you do phase 10 with two people

How to keep score
As far as we know it's just whoever gets rid of there pike first wins. There is no score. I know this response is super late, but hopefully that's helpful.
