      The somen noodles were actually given to me as a gift.
      Somen in general is sold in the dried noodle section of supermarkets, just like soba and udon.

    I have never seen Somen before. This dish looks perfect for hot summer weather. Do you also sometimes eat Somen in a warm dish, or is that purely for cold dishes ?

      Most somen noodles are eaten cold. Eating cold somen on a hot summer day is a summer tradition.
      However, in some regions, somen is eaten warm. Also, although few restaurants specializing in somen serve hot somen. Warm somen is served in a soy sauce-based bonito or kelp broth, similar to udon or soba.
