RV Camping at Lake Claiborne State Park
    Hey Folks,
In this this video we're going to share our RV Camping trip at Lake Claiborne State Park near Homer, Louisiana. This large Louisiana State Park has two camping areas with 85 total improved campsites (many of those are lakefront sites) making it a good choice for a RV camping In Louisiana. Lake Claiborne State Park is about 10 miles outside of Homer, Louisiana and 30 miles from the Louisiana/Arkansas State Line. Your vehicle or phone navigation should get you there without any issues and my wife and I both had good cell service with AT&T and Verizon.
We parked our 189R Retro Travel Trailer in site 25 located in the Area 1 campground. It was a really great spot for views of the lake too. Be sure to watch my detailed site walk-around. We will do our usual campground drive thru and site walk around, and we also share some of the fun things we did while at Lake Claiborne State Park. And even offer you a restaurant recommendation for dinner with a lake view:)
We set out and explored several areas this park has to offer and will share those with you and also a few things we did outside this Louisiana State Park in a few other areas surrounding Lake Claiborne.
This state park is our new favorite because it is that impressive. I can go on but you should check out our video for better details.
We do these campground reviews and drive though video of every place we go rv camping to help as many fellow RVers as possible. If you find value in this video, and our channel, go ahead and hit the subscribe button. It’s free to subscribe and hit that notification bell too so you’ll know when we upload our next video:) We’d appreciate it as it helps other RVers to see our videos. Hi twoblah1
To clarify for you and other campers in the future...
      As of our stay (2/2022) the only sites *with* sewer connections are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 35, 37 and 39.
Those sites are labeled "Premium Sites w/Sewer" in Camping Area #1.
Be sure to note that Area #2 does NOT have sewer connections.
Thanks for asking this very good question, I'll pin it to the top of the comment section.
      Thanks so much for watching.

      You're welcome. :)
Yes, it sure is a nice campground. Angel and I are considering another trip that way in the fall (Louisiana fall is in December, LOL) because of the hardwood trees. It might offer some fall colors.
Thanks Davy for watching our video.

The timber is ridiculously too thick around RV park. Would look way better if about half taken out and healthier for the woods and wildlife.

Hi ironmule, that’s the look at North Abutment Campground at GrenadaLake, we have a few videos of that campground. It’s still one of our favorites. You are right, Lake Claiborne is heavily wooded but we don’t mind that at all.
Thanks for checking out our video ironmule!

What are you getting with your MPG?

    • @RetroRVRecon
      @RetroRVRecon  2 роки тому

      Hi Bob
I usually set the cruise control between 65 and 70 mph on the interstate. I've gotten as high as 15 mpg at 65 mph on flat road with a nearly empty camper. At 70mph it drops to around 12. To get these numbers I reset the fuel economy gauge while the cruise control is engaged at the beginning of the trip. I check my interstate efficency this way. Of course the overal average is lower once I get into stop and go traffic.
Thanks Bob for the question and for watching our video.

Got to disagree with you on this park. There is so much deferred maintenance here. Recently, the water system has failed and they are having to connect up to city water, The whole park had intermittent water, stained, and brown. Electrical panels at the sites about 20😮% had no covers. Very disappointing and we will not return. So,many sites had no fire pit and those that did were rusted out (#59). But hey, they had a challenging disc golf course. Most bulkheads at the lakeshore were rotting out and falling apart. Maybe standards are just different.

      Hi Gray Road
We hate to hear you had such a bad experience, Angel and I had a great time there even through the cold weather. I will agree, some campgrounds could use a little more TLC. I didn’t check all of the power panels or the fire rings during our stay but the one in site 25 was fine. The site was unlevel but we’ve had worse.
We hope you find a campground that meets your standards, when you do let us know where it is so we can check it out and share the experience.🙂
Thanks, Gray Road for watching our video.
