- Just like the Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes before, the Resident Evil 4 Remake looks to be a complete reworking of the original game. Where-as RE2 and RE3 worked in elements of Resident Evil 4 to their gameplay, Resident Evil 4’s Remake has larger environments and enhanced gameplay mechanics, all with a graphics overhaul. Please keep in mind the game is still in development, so everything we show here is subject to change.

For what i know about a month ago a well-known leaker/insider said that the Regenaratos wont make it into the final game,still tho,maybe the devs changed ideea and we ll see them there and get our asses whooped:)

I hope they will keep the death scenes. it's really important in a survival horror game that death is shown properly. It's both a "oh no" and "oh you can die like that" moment. Resident evil 4 had tons of "all death scenes" videos around at the time.
Body dismemberment already seems to be toned down, even compared to RE2 remake

I know this is a small thing but if you look at the houses in RE4 original, it looks very empty and like it was not something people would actually be living in. RE4 remake looks like they took what was already there but placed items and furniture in the homes like someone actually lives there. The remake looks more believable as a place which is fantastic.
Well bruh, the og made for old gen, meanwhile the remake more focusing on nextgen or last gen like PS4 , which is powerful enough with that big enviroments.

Bruh. Do you realize how tiny the original RE4 Gamecube disc was? Not every house needed furniture or anything that needed to be textured, detailed and rendered, then crammed into that little thing.
Now we live in an age where everything can be almost as photorealistic as possible. Amazing what almost 2 decades of tech can do.

A big thing I keep seeing people fail to mention is that the time of day is completely different between the two. The original starts in the afternoon whereas the remake seems to begin at night.

It's not *that* mind-blowing, lol. It has exactly the same gameplay as the original RE4, aside from some minor tweaks and a 'sneaking mode'. Also, they changed the atmosphere from depressing, grey and mysterious to dark, classic horror. That's about it.
The fact that it's barely any different from the original game honestly makes me wonder why I should play it. After all, I still have RE4 on my PS4 and its gameplay still holds up today. They could've increased the survival aspect of it, for example by having you scavenge for resources that you can combine to create (healing) items.
They could've really turned that into an optional, highly dangerous but highly rewarding thing. Imagine going into dark, marshy areas where enemies lurk around every corner to ambush you, just so you can optimize items.
Instead, the game feels too similar to the original. Not revolutionary, not an evolution either. It's a shame.

I've played Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube, PS2, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PS4, Nintendo Switch and am currently going through it in VR on the Quest 2. I already know I'll be buying this day 1. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Jesus, I like RE4 too, but that's like, $300+ assuming you bought the non-HD versions at full price. I hope you didn't buy the mobile port too, though that was okay for something from '09 designed to run on an original iPhone or 3G.
@@EbonySaints haven't played the mobile port, but did try the PC version. The PS2 version launched 17 years ago, which seems crazy to write. $300 over that time span isn't that much for all the enjoyment gained.

The way Leon walks in the opening scene of the remake reminds me a lot of how Isaac Clarke walks in Dead Space. Hunched over, arms down, looking side to side, really sells the idea that he's determined while also being cautious, and feeling isolated, scared, and pressured.
Remember that Dead Space was supposed to be a Res Evil game but went a whole different direction.
yeah good spot on that detail. it does feel a little heavier. I really like the new way he holds his gun when not aiming. it feel like he's more ready to respond to an actual threat in the dark than the old way he held it

It's funny that dead space was inspired by re4, yet re4 remake seems to have more details similar to it than "Motive's" dead space remake.....

i agree but i wonder if the bad feedback about 5&6, and even 3 remake made them feel like they have to dive into the horror aspect even more to avoid making the same mistake again. if that makes sense
Nah this leon looks much more mature and confident than the original and he looks way better than original i mean how tf can u compare the original to the remake ?? I mean seriously there’s a huge difference b/w the grphics and the remake looks a way lot better obviously 😒

@@abhirupchatterjee5809 1. Graphics have nothing to do with the way a character carries himself for the most part. Resident evil 4 og leon looked a lot less nervous but its a fine change. 2. The remake absolutely should be compared to the remake especially one as culturally important as RE4. Literally revolutionized the fps genre. 3. Graphics are only as good as the game they are slapped on. Bad game + best Graphics = bad game

I did get a ps2 later on but i played some crash games, Spyro, Ben 10, Spider-Man, God of war and King Kong

The only things that upset me as of right now is that we don't get that legendary entrance with Leon and the ganado at the beginning and the merchant voice
I’m sure it will be there. They showed that part on the very first trailer where the ganado attacked Leon with an axe.
pretty sure it's there, cuz the ganado was already beaten up as shown in the vid, prolly the basement footage happens after the first encounter.

@@bigcatlove5192 It's obviously there. After the first trailer comes out there's picture of a Ganado by a fireplace which I assume is the first Ganado. Even in the latest gameplay reveal, when Leon open the door you can notice they cut out the part where Leon meet the Ganado and directly show when Leon enter the house basement.
Hunnigan is almost identical, her design has been consistent from RE4 to RE6 and Damnation

RE4 is in my top 10 games of all time list (I play it atleast once a year on various platforms), so I'm really leaning into this project. This thing has the potential to be amazing and the best way to introduce an entire new generation of gamers to Resident Evil.

The original RE4 changed the gaming industry forever. I’m not sure how RE4 remake will do anything. I’ll be happy if it’s just a great game, but I know it’ll never compare.

I want to see an RE5 remake because I honestly loved the game. I dug the missions, the story, the atmosphere, all of it. But I'd LOVE to see a remake of RE6 where they change every single thing about the game and remake it from the ground up. 🙂
Lol, all jokes aside, I just picked this game back up again last week and beat it 3 times. I will never get enough of RE4 and I'm absolutely thrilled at how the remake looks.

@@KubEntertainment69 Apparently there's a bunch of costumes in this new game, so maybe he'll have the proper jacket from the OG RE4 as a unlockable.
Also the current jacket is based on RE3.5, the early RE4 prototype on gamecube (it wasn't too big on the Leon then tho, idk about that)
Also the enemies are now using the correct Spanish accent for european spanish. As a spaniard it has always been weird hearing "latin?" voices. (i dont really know what was that accent to be honest, there were some words misspelled even like "the voy a asplastar" wich is wrong in any spanish variant)
I mean, imagine a game based on New York but everyone is using Uk or Austranian accents. Pretty much the same. Old voices will be missed because nostalgia tho.

That's an interesting adjustment and will be good to hear the difference compared to the original (I get what you mean if you know Spanish as you'd be wondering why the village is populated with Mexican Spanish speaking people). Out of interest did the cultists in the castle and the soldiers later in the game have the same accents or were they different?
By the looks of it, they're trying their best to make as accurate with the original resident evil 4.
Since it was known as the best game of all time, I love how accurate it is side by side but so different in their own unique ways.
If people end up disliking the remake, I honestly wouldn't understand why. Because it's literally similar but added in their own tweeks and even possibly new ideas from old scrapts and trying to make it as similar to reality and horror.
I'm honestly so excited to see how it'll be when finished.

At this point with Capcom and their remakes, we know it will look and play good. We just need to know how MUCH of it are they going to give us: Is it a full-on start to finish remake two dozen hour game, or will it be a truncated "greatest hits" remake like RE3?
They got a lot of negative reactions to re3, so they’ll probably go the same way as re2 remake

RE3remake was done by the B team at almost the same time tht the RE2remake was being worked on. Reason it came out so soon after 2.
RE4r is made by the A team.

I wonder when people are gonna realise that re-makes.. Are completely different games to the Original. The story has been altered, the Lines have been altered, the models and scenery has been altered. The only thing they can't alter is the Characters truly.

I hope they have an option to choose to use the laser on the gun instead of a reticle, I know it doesn't make the mkst sense for a random hunting shotgun to have a laser module but it would be cool. Not a huge complaint I just like the laser

Finally the characters speak in Castilian Spanish! Although funny, it was horrible for the setting and the location of the game that the voices of the characters had a Mexican accent.

This is one of the resident evils that I would never want to play on first person view, the anxiety would be through the roof. Eight was pretty ridiculous with the werewolves in your face, I can only imagine the villagers and all of the monks in the castle with all that close quarters how stressful that would be
Very excited to see what they did with the cultists, their chanting was very haunting to hear them but not knowing where they are made it extra scary. Hopefully they preserved that atmosphere in the castle

I wonder where they go from here. Obviously there will be a Resident Evil 9 and other new entries in the series but the remakes have become a core pillar of the series and allow them to release games more frequently.
They could fully remake Resident Evil 1 again since its first remake is a GameCube game and also still uses tank controls. It wouldn't be the first time a game was remade for a second time. Pokemon Red and Green were remade into FireRed and LeafGreen and then again with Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. There are heavy rumors that Metal Gear Solid is being remade for a second time. Its not unheard of.
Or maybe the do Code Veronica or Resident Evil 5 and 6. It could be a redemption arc for 5 and 6.
re1 is still fine and has alt controls than tank now cause of later remasters of it even then their not impossible to adjust to given old 4 itself used them

My Criticism for the remake is the shotgun blast there is to much smoke and I think it should be more subtle but other than that looks decent
