I'm one of the two people who told Rick about Boogaloo Joe Jones! I've been taking private lessons with Rick for about six months now and I've made tremendous progress. If you're on the fence about taking lessons and you can practice an hour a day, I'd highly recommend you go for it with Rick. I'm really glad I did!
@@TastyGuitarcom For sure Rick! Also, if anyone has questions about lessons with Tasty Guitar and wants to talk with me about my experience I'm open, just send me a message. Let's make the world a little funkier together :)
I love the sound of his playing, yes very repetitive at times but very addicting and smooth. His album Right On is one of my favorites. Bernard purdie's drumming is perfect on there too.
I have been listening and playing Ivan "boogaloo Joe" Jones in my souljazz bands for years. Glad to see others discovering him. Nice job with the lesson Rick! These are some bad licks!
wow thats so cool!! I just fell in love with this album last summer and now here is my favorite UA-cam teacher breaking down the tastiest bits?!?! You are the man, Rick, Thanks a ton!!
Just as an addition on that first cool lick, Rick......we can also (basically resolve) this lck by also resolving to the octave or E note on the 9th fret on the G-string!! Very cool vamp though when jamming and thinking about where to improvise next!! Jim C.
THANK YOU FROM AUSTRALIA! I believe I'm 50% of the request!!!!
Thank you for this likes you are thé best in funk soul , you are thé brotther of Nils Roger

Lick 5: 9:58
Good stuff. Interesting that when the licks are slowed they have a 50s rock n roll vibe. Fun times :)
Yeah I could here these over a Chuck Berry tune!
Yeah, cats and kitties! Thx, Rick🌹🌹🌹

Whoops sorry, just saw a comment on this. Think my 2 year old boy was trying to express exactly that. 😆

yeah that is a cool way to reslove it too
Great lesson. Are there any backing tracks to play along with? Any links?
Thanks! Tracks are available with membership at tastyguitar.com, see below for more info
Can you please do Beat goes on by Boogaloo Joe..thank you
Hey Rick do you know the New Master Sounds ( a current bsnd ) ? They have that soul jazz guitar vibe you'd love!
Eddie roberts is just a white British version of Boogaloo and Grant Green
I'd put O'Donel Levy on that list as well. If you don't know his work, check out "Simba." Steve Gadd and Tony Levin tear it UP.
Still waiting for someone to attempt “You’ve got it Bad Girl” !!!!
Damn Rick...I'm supposed to be working! I've got deadlines and you throw this up?? *grabs guitar
haha sorry
Yes I'm having that. Can I request some Leroy Sugarfoot Bonner pls? 🌴
check out my breakdown of The Ohio Player's "Fire"
@@TastyGuitarcom Now you're talking. I'm like a dog on a bone
Great stuff! Also check out Grant Green.

@@TastyGuitarcom oh cool. Thanks. You're the best, man. Best guitar teacher I've had.
Good stuff, but not what I call psychedelic.
not in the traditional sense, but one of his albums is called "psychedelic soul"
Depends on your definition of psychedelic

Perhaps if they were played through a flanger, a fuzz, a tremolo and a reverb...
