- Today I decided to try and get the achievement "unvanquished", which is to survive 500 waves. Little did I know that hard sectors ramp up to be just as difficult as extreme sectors, with a 30-wave difference. I threw everything I had at this sector, but it wasn't enough...

Mini challenge idea: You are not allowed to use deconstruct. If anything is destroyed that you built on a square, you are only allowed to rebuild it. You cannot build over it.

You could adjust your wall so it has a path to the south and make everything on the ground walk along the wall taking damage along the way (spreads out damage taken as well), though mechs will ignore the path. Consider moving the air unit bait North or South so the main wall can concentrate on just the ground units (split the work).
A couple Meltdown turrets (with oil spray) on the bottom might help (due to area of effect they roast a lot of units at once). I'd suggest two rows so they don't all fire at the same time/unit.
Spectre's (4x4 turret) with thorium would be an upgrade (vela are immune to burning so pyratite+oil would not be better). Maybe add some Segments in the mix to take down the odd incoming projectiles.
For ammo distribution, consider sprinkling in some Containers to cache ammo between waves. I often put a container+unloader right behind each turret so they always have ammo. Though the plastanium lines may offer a similar experience since each resource bubble is 10 items.
Liquids: I find a pair of conduit bridges linked together function similar to a pair of routers but without the flow restriction issue. The water comes out the second bridge. You can chain these in pairs as much as you want without flow penalty (up to about 530/s).

For liquids you could also use junctions, as they have a infinite and instand liquid transport. .
For turrets, i would use swarmers with phase, as they basically delete everything and deal the highest dmg/ turret tile ( since these things are only 2x2) .mixed with tzunamis with water of course.
I dont think that you would actually need meltdowns when using Swarmers, but maybe against the Quads they might be useful.
Challenge: beat an extreme base but you can only attack the base with self destructs or explosions on death but you can’t use unit to transport any thing. (ex: crawlers, reactors) you can still kill the units with whatever you want
If this is too hard do an easier difficulty
Octs with reactors are *very* powerful, shouldn't be a big deal

Try to do multi-layer walls
Like right after the first line of defenses theres a second line
The game struggles to do things correctly at 4x speed and above. If you only speed it up to 2x you will have a much better time
I use 3x speed, it's very helpful
liquid containers and liquid tanks doesnt share a combined throughput. theyre like liquid routers but a lot better since they have a much larger capacity. u wil suffer throughput issues when u stack them in a long line, unless u have an insane amount of fps.
what u can do to remedy it though, is using liquid junctions, they have infinite throughput basically, and use liquid containers for turns and corners
One thing you can do to not die to quads (and flyers in general) is have a bunch of water tsunamis in your defense because tsunamis have a bunch of knock back so they can keep the quads or any other flyers from crossing the boundaries of your defense therefore preventing the splashdown damage.

maybe try to use breakthrough with cryo, (using segment is not really good against big shell or energy weapon but meh), against Quad, maybe isoling them with some paralax and killing them then less ennemy are showed, ('not really know if it work well but using tsunami combo oil + slag)...it' way easier to do enlessmode with Exogenesis ON XD...yeah, combo tsunami oil + breakthough is my last recommandation...good luck with that.
PS: by the way, you can try to survive a sector fully or almost covered with water and using T air WITH T5 boat to defend it...'have heard they where pretty powerfull...also 'love your vid and stuff don't lose it.

Two seconds later:
Meltdown spam is the best counter when the waves go for quad spam. Their firing pattern and the high damage laser shape makes them wipe out big squads of quads easy, since they hurt many at once. Overdrive+cryo and they end up rapid fire.
Think of them like a foreshadow crossed with a fuse. Need to get at least 5-6 beams in range tho.

I've seen a logic powered mindustry video where the quads builds thorium reactors loads them with thorium and drops them on the enemy waves, inflicting massive damages to the waves. They do it in a nonstop loop, so the area near spawn point is always under nuclear explosion. Now I'm trying to find the video back.
That was really fun i think you should use spector instead of cyclones.
okay, i had a great defence plan for u, i had experience defeat 100 waves on Frozen Farlands Mod, and it does exactly the same as u fought in this sector 11. what i did said about distraction is really useful if u put them on front defences with couple of oct and force field.. i manage distracting quad by rebuilt so many bateries in front of defences so they would not breaching the front line. for ground unit, let make sure u had a thousand of tsunami to push them back, i suggest to use cryo if the ammo is surge alloy, but water is really easy to get. there is no idle strategic to beated 500 waves by just skipping through waves. it is impossible to do that because the amount of (shield, overdrive, overclock, and multipled HP) in every enemy units getting higher by the waves. make sure to spam meltdown if u could afford it. Because the insane amount of enemy units, it is better to have AoE Turret that does damaging in area. Meltdown, Spectre, Cyclone. Fore Shadow is single target. Unit like Specter, Vela, Reign, Antumbra, Ecplise, Oct, could help too as defence.
Lets goo I just beat overgrowth with only tier 1s. Turns out flares are kinda op in large number, especially is you cut of the enemy’s source of power so they’re menders are basically useless :)
Also, I would advise bringing a few thousand coal when you launch to a new sector, so you can just unload coal to steam generators and put water extractors for some quick power if you run out of thorium😊

Challenge Idea: Get 1 mil Power/Second on a sector
1) Don't be lame and spam only one kind of power gen (RTGs I'm looking at you)
2) Also get 100 mil in saved power
- This one is debatable because I don't know if 100 mil is possible with limited space
3) Only use Power Based Weapons when defending the sector (or attacking if you are doing that)
4) Try to build more support air units (Polys, Megas, Quads, Octs) to help you build
5) Don't Overdrive/Overdome any reactors
- This is to prevent you from just building like 10 impact reactors and then Overdoming then to get 1 mil power
- You can still Overdrive/Overdome your cryo mixers and stuff
Meltdowns are now the only anti air and theyre HORRIBLE at anti air

Hey firefly! I have a tip for you. Use Pyratite Spectres with oil instead of water and cyclones. Also have 2 shield projectors for every 3 menders. Placing a unloader on a shield next to a mender allows them to both use the phase fabric. And bonus you can unload all that from the boosters! Walls should go surge, plastinium. Then place oil and tsunami. Then add cryofluid and pyratite spectres. Then spam the booster/shield/Mender after that remember to cryoboost the shields aswell. Then spam forshadow with either water or cryo because that boost is important

oh yeah you have to watch out with the time control mod because if you go to fast the game can’t calculate all the actions fast enough and it makes an oops ie that breaks your defence even do it says wave 30 out of 30 it will not survive most of the time so maybe not use it i’ve used it a couple times for that purpose but they all didn’t survive even do the defences are great
Challenge: Survive 1000 waves with 2 layers of defense, a defense after a defense, the more layers the better (probably difficult finding a base which is large enough to supply layers of defense)
sector 94 is foreshadowed for what's to come in sector 11

if you spam quad as defence it works they use area repair and destroy annoying flares
Strong opinion but foreshadow is a worse meltdown
just make a foreshadow wall out of the enemy's attack path and several layers of defense with Spectre and you'll go far
Needs more FS like 20 to 40 more and vaults for the surge.
Perhaps you could put the bait stuff away from the main defenses to split the load. That way, the main defense only defends against ground while the other deals with air.
Oh, I've noticed that your running low on not extreme, high or eradication threat sectors, may I suggest the Random Planet Mod to fix that?
What if the simple solution is just to make multiple layers of giga walls and not put everything on just one layer which eventually gets overrun just by the volume of the enemies.

Just tried this challenge, and damn, the difficulty jumps at wave 165, almost lost.
Got to wave 198, where flares and crawlers were tanking 6 or more foreshadow bolts. I didn't even know they could get that much health
Video 2 of asking for this challenge: do a challenge on a hard or extreme ( realized eradication would be to hard) and only using 1 flare ( if the flare dies you can produce another) you can't use any other units besides pollys and megas but only for repairing and building the base, flare must destroy the core to complete the challenge turrets are allowed but not for shooting the enemy core

4x is botched, it makes bullets just phase through the enemies/walls, lasers turrets fire slower (not really noticeable, but still), unloaders unload slower, and cryogen makes less cryo (like, a little bit), so 2x is better, as these things are far, FAR less prominent
Use foreshadow spam and meltdowns and scepters if you can fit em and a bunch of every t5 and t4 except spiroct
Challenge: Beat a high threat base with only tier 3 units
