- HA! TV Comedy Network launched on April 1,1990. 365 days later, it merged with HBO's The Comedy Channel to become CTV: The Comedy Network. 60 days later, June 1st ,1991, the network became Comedy Central. Here's some promos from it's first weeks on the air.
I watched this network religiously when it was on!
WOW! Thank you for posting these! They had the BEST bumpers for this network! I just wish you had the 3rd Mel Torme one. The one that goes "HA is better... It's so much better... It's better than cleaning your bathroom, or touching an eel..."
Where I live, we had the Comedy Channel, from HBO which was the other half of Comedy Central.
Never thought I'd ever see any actual clips of HA!
We had this with our cable provider. I remember watching reruns of The Charmings on Ha!
So did we, which surprised me as we never got new channels when they launched. If we hadn't, I'd have never fallen in love with "Mystery Science Theater 3000" at a young age.
We never received HA! The Comedy Network.
Thanks for posting more of these. I hope I started a trend... :-)
i sure wish I had HA! Comedy Network years ago. I had no idea they had such great classic shows like That Girl, Rhoda. The Lucy Show and my personal favorite, Love American Style (which I found out it ran on HA! on some DVDs I bought).
2:34 - This one with Mel Torme was my fondest memory of the early days of "Ha!"
Ha! Was way cooler than CTV.
Wish someone had the Phil Hartman bumper where he did impressions in German (John Wayne, Jack Nicholson)
I remember this vanishing and for a while I had no idea it had become Comedy Central.
I used to watch so much of these channels - haven't bothered with Comedy Central in years and years now.
What is that piece of music that plays from 0:00-0:38?
Most likely just placement music made for the channel

The Comedy Channel and Ha! merged together to form Comedy Central in 1991.
At first, it was called CTV: The Comedy Network...that is, until they got into a little heap of trouble with Canada's CTV network, which led to the Comedy Central name.
what am I doing here?
Talk About gross @ 2:07!
