Thank you for this video. Now my opinion. I see alot of stores that sell macs in bags. They are small and taste nothing like a regular Mac. I wrote a letter to the company once and complained. It used to be that in non big box stores, you could buy large macs in the fall. But not any more. Do you know why that is? Also I tied to take the smaller macs and let them sit out for a few days to see if they would ripped more, but it did not work.

Hi John! Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts on McIntosh apples. Since I'm not an apple farmer, I can't explain why the difference in size of apples that are available in various stores. There could be a lot of different reasons for the changes we see in fruit now versus years back, so I can't even speculate. Regarding ripening...I don't believe apples will ripen up any more once picked off the tree. They will only age. That's why they are kept in cold storage after being harvested, and why it's helpful for us to store them in the refrigerator to prolong their shelf life.

Love all the types of apples this video mentions but Fuji’s and Granny Smith especially.

That's funny, didn't know that they were crisp when fresh, I have only had them old and soft. Even so, they are my favorite apple. I love the mellow soft flesh and the thick tart skin. I should try them right off the tree sometime to see how I like them crisp.

There is a problem that started a few years ago in the state of Pennsylvania concerning the spotted lantern fly that was a threat to Apple trees. The state I think did not even do enough to combat the issue and now the problem has spread to other states. You would thing with a multi billion dollar potential problem, they would be more aggressive.

Yes, I would think so too. Again, without being in the farm industry, we simply can't know what's going on behind the scenes. Probably more than we could imagine! Take care and blessings to you and yours :)

Fuji and Envy are better than any of those.
