    Hey Sean,
Here is some information that I've learned about the crucifixion timing that makes waaay more sense than what the traditional belief is.
First off, Jesus himself said that He would be in the grave for three days and three nights. (Matt 12:40)
That is IMPOSSIBLE if it was on Friday He died and was buried. (Friday- Sunday morning, 1 day 1 night)
Secondly, the Sabbath that was coming up was a High Sabbath, which was observed ONCE a year, and could land on any day of the week, (John 19:31, Leviticus 23:4-8) apart from their weekly Sabbath. (Saturday)
So there would have been two Sabbaths in that week.
The day that perfectly fits is Nisan 14, 30 AD. Which turns out to be a Wednesday and the High Sabbath would have been on Thursday Nisan 15.
From Wednesday before sundown to Saturday night at sundown is 3 days and 3 nights. (72 hrs) Jesus didn't lie.
To help corroborate this is the perceived contradiction of the women who bought the spices AFTER the Sabbath (Mark 16:1) and prepared them BEFORE the Sabbath.(Luke 23:56)
They bought and prepared the spices on Friday the day between the two Sabbaths.
Mark and Luke are simply talking about two different Sabbaths for that week. POV
Why any scholar would miss all that I don't know. Most just stick to tradition without really thinking about it. There is a chart here: www.zionministry.com/passover_chart.pdf that illustrates this probably better than I've explained it. It fit's perfectly!
This is worthy of your or anyone's serious consideration. Check it out.

      Agreed, thanks for the link.
From Leviticus, the lamb should be chosen on the 10th of Nissan and sacrificed on the 14th. Yeshua went up to the temple on the 10th (Shabbat), before that he kept saying, my time has not yet come. On ‘palm Sunday’ he was accepted by the people as the ‘Son of David’, ie chosen as suitable.
The year of his birth is still a bit under question but should start by recognising Josephus’ error/ copy error on Herod’s death. If Yeshua started his ministry at age 30, as per tradition, and depending on John 4:6 (see Nehemiah gordon, youtube) on 1-4 years of ministry we should be able to tie it down better along with earthquakes and stars etc.

    Does anyone know if.....?
Back in the day, JOSH McDowell wrote "Evidence That Demands a Verdict".
Then, Jeffrey Jay Lowder went through it and criticized it.
QUESTION: Did either Josh or Sean ever write any comeback or rebuttal to Lowder?
Also, in another video, Sean mentions that he stumbled on some stuff online from The Secular Web that attacked his dad's writings and it got him questioning/wondering. My 2nd question is:
HOW?-- did Sean quell those doubts or questions or decide that the objections didn't hold up? Did he ever say? Where can I read or listen specifically about that? if anyone knows, thank you!

I think this is a useful way of thinking about how to reconcile faith and works, or Paul and James.

My question is about textual variants. Critics often site how many textual variants there are in the manuscripts as a reason for being skeptical. I know there are only a few copies of some of the most important non-Biblical ancient manuscripts, and yet we have thousands of copies of the New Testament. My question is: what textual variants are there in the non-Biblical ancient manuscripts, and does that make people skeptical of them?

It was written to control the early Jewish followers who probably was a lot less educated then the authors of the old testament(Hebrew Bible) the new testament was created and in order for the people to accept the new ideas or new approach, they connected their new approach to the Hebrew Bible because people back then wouldn't accept anything unless it was connected to something that was ancient. Bear in mind the following: Jesus hadn’t been to the cross. He was born under the old covenant and was in the process of fulfilling the Old Testament law properly. The scribes and Pharisees were under the illusion that they were righteous/holy & fulfilling the law. However Jesus’s with his statements points out the exacting standards and requirements of the law which none of them were obeying anyway. He raises the bar of the law so high that the listeners realise that they could never achieve it. The New Testament/ covenant the Age of Grace is only ushered in on Jesus death burial and resurrection and shed blood. This New Covenant ushered in by God and founded on better promises. Any perceived conflict is only there because of a lack of understanding of which Covenant each writer is in at the time

There are so many old testament stories that reveal God as caring.. Hagar, the mother of Ishmael got sent away with her young boy and was languishing in the desert when ahe cried out to God and got a personal response from God. God provided life saving water for her and her son and also a promise to bless her and to make the boy a father of many nations. Hagar then calls Yahwey the God who sees me.
If you examine the details in the stories of Sarah, Rahab, Tamar, Moses and Aaron, Samuel, Bathsheba, David and Jonathan, etc. You'll descover a God who cares about the individual. And YHWH cares about both Hebrew and Gentile people.

    31:35
With all due respect, Dr. Mounce is here just making things up. With reference to the discrepancy between the timing of the Passover meal in John and Luke the contradiction is clear. Just read the evangelists:
Luke 22:15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
    ...
So...Jesus, by his own testimony, tells us that he is at the Passover meal, with his disciples, before the Passion. But wait, John tells us:
John 18:28 Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.
    .......
So in this telling, the Jewish officials have already arrested Jesus and are gathered before Pilate's residence, which they cannot enter lest they be defiled and thus unable to eat the Passover. Therefore, the Passover hasn't happened yet. End of story.
Dr. Mounce is really sacrificing a great deal of credibility here by insisting on his harmonization, which absolutely does not work. Counting backward from the Crucifixion can't fix the timeline above. Perhaps what the differing accounts above are telling us is that those unknown editors who compiled and ordered the books of the New Testament did not mean for us to take these stories perfectly literally. Obviously so, since they decided to set next to each other stories that flatly contradicted each other.

Nice! This is great work. I just wanted to comment on the Friday last supper. If Jesus was crucified on Friday He could not have resurrected on Sunday. 3 days and 3 nights He was in the grave. Going back to Moses and the fleeing out of Egypt they started the first Passover on the 14th of Nisan and put the blood of the lamb on the doorpost. The 14th of Nisan was in the middle of the week when Jesus was cut off. So Friday is not a correct date in my opinion when reading scripture. The last supper was on a Tuesday! Great job on the rest!

Jewish thought was that a part of a day could count as a 'day'. It is only because we tend to be so precise these days, ie 24 hour period, that we think 'contradiction'. No contradictions in the bible? Well I have a Christmas present for you. I will give you the contradictions of the nativity stories in the bible as my gift to you. Matthew & Luke nativity stories are not the same story and contradict one another.
      1. Matthew story had Jesus being born in or before 1 BCE - Luke's story had Jesus being born in 6 CE or later.
      2. Matthew's story had Mary & Joseph go from Bethlehem with Jesus to Egypt for 2 years then go to Nazareth - Luke's story had them go from Nazareth to Bethlehem then 41 days after Jesus' birth going back to Nazareth.
      3. Matthews story had 3 wise men(the Magi) and Luke's story had no wise men (Magi) in it.
      4. Matthew story had an angel warning them (Joseph's dream) about Herod the great* to go hide in Egypt for 2 years after Jesus was born - Luke's story had no mention of Herod the great* at all - maybe since when Jesus was born in Luke's story Herod had been dead for at least 5 years. (Note: there are no records of Herod the great* having all the children 2 or under being put to death and his life is well documented and something like this would have been recorded. The fact is there is no recording of this event ever happening except in the gospel of Matthew).
      5. Matthew story has no mention of the census of Caesar August while Quirinious** was governor of Syria (6 CE to 9 CE) as Luke's story does.
      We have some contradictions here.
First contradiction - When was Jesus born? In Matthews story he would have had to be born no later than 1 BCE and in Luke's story no earlier than 6 CE. That is a minimum of 5 years difference (they didn't have a zero year).
Second contradiction - In Matthews story they went from Bethlehem to Egypt for 2 years before going to Nazareth, and in Luke's story they went from Bethlehem to Nazareth 41 days after Jesus' birth. Note: if you need me to I can show you how I got 41 days from Jewish traditions.
The 3rd contradiction - In Matthews story Jesus was born in a house and in Luke's story Jesus was born in a manger. Another problem with Matthews story is the wise men (Magi) were from the east meaning Bethlehem was to their west. But the story has the wise men (Magi) following a star in the east, which of course would be taking them in the wrong direction if they followed it. Just saying. Note, I once had an apologist tell me the wise man followed the star to the east when they left Herod the great in Jerusalem and went to Bethlehem, but Bethlehem is almost directly North of Jerusalem, so they would be going North, not east when they left Herod.
      * we know it was Herod the great who died no later than 1BCE because his son Archelaus took over reigning in Judea which is the reason in Matthews story they went to Nazareth.
** he became governor when Caesar Augusta order the census in 6CE.
      Merry Christmas

The apologetic professor likes Craig Evans on gospel authorship. What does Dr. Evans say in a dialog on UA-cam with Bart Ehrman: “Dr.Craig Evans responds: “I think most of these things were not uttered as we find them by the historical Jesus. I suspect we don’t have too much of a difference on John. My view is that the Gospel of John is a horse of another color all together. It is a different genre. John is often compared to wisdom literature. It is like wisdom is personified. Hochma. Lady wisdom or in Greek sophia. She wanders the streets. She calls out to the people. She does things. Nobody would read that and think, did you see wisdom going down the street the other day? Nobody would think that it is a literal person. What is mysterious to me about John is once you say that perhaps we should interpret the I am statements as, ‘He is confessions’, He is the light of the world, He is the truth, He is the bread of life, confession of the Johannine community that likely generated that version of the gospel. John is a gigantic parable. …that makes John so tricky”. At that point, Bart Ehrman gets to smile and say, ‘So, now we can toss out John’.

    Brethren/friends, a few notes:
    1) When does one ever eat the Passover before it is sacrificed? Never. It seems to me Jesus would not have eaten the Passover meal prior to being offered as our Passover sacrifice because that would be out of order. In Luke 22:15, the Greek word "desire"(epithymia) has a meaning of "desire for what is forbidden". It seems Jesus knew he was not going to actually consume the Passover meal because He was already going to be sacrificed. Now, there's no record of the disciples observing Passover the night Jesus was killed or even in the second month, so I'm not sure what happened with that.
    2) Jesus was not a religiously practicing Jew, meaning He was not practicing Judaism. The Old Testament was not Jewish. The 12 tribes of Israel were not Jewish. This theme of everything being Jewish seems to confuse a great deal of biblical teachings.
    3) The biblical days do not begin at sunset, contrary to popular misinterpretation of Gen. 1:5; Lev. 23:32. The days begin at dawn.
    4) It appears to me that John, in his gospel, during the Passion is using Roman time, which reckoned days from midnight-midnight. When comparing the 4 gospels with that in mind, it appears to clear up some confusion.
    Love y'all!

The contradiction that bothers me the most is the idea that Jesus is God and is also God's Son.
NO OT prophecies spoke of God Himself being the sacrifice. Different books of the NT provide different views on the answer of who Jesus was. Some said Jesus was the Son of God. Some said Jesus was God. The various NT writings had a contradiction that needed to be solved. Thus, the doctrine of the Trinity was invented to solve the contradiction.

El is God and Ba'al; El's son is also a God in the canaanite Pantheon.

The meaning behind James words is blatantly obvious. To interpret his words as works based salvation is to not pay attention to his words.
"But someone may say, “You [claim to] have faith and I have [good] works; show me your [alleged] faith without the works [if you can], and I will show you my faith by my works [that is, by what I do].” - James 2:18 Amplified Bible
He isn't talking about salvation through works, he's talking about faith. The only difference is that he is emphasizing the need the SHOW our faith through what we do. All he is saying is "actions speak louder than words." Merely claiming that we have faith is meaningless unless we demonstrate that faith by what we do and how we live. Just look at what Jesus himself said.
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not practice what I tell you?” - Luke 6:46 (See also Matthew 7:21 - 24)

*Question: Is the New Testament not reliable, because the information that was transmitted orally before being written down?*
Answer: The New Testament IS reliable, due to the following reasons.
    (1) We know that the apostles *did proclaim* the gospel publicly from Acts and Paul´s letters for at least a few decades after Jesus´s death and that reaches us right at the door-step of when the gospels were written. It would only be _unreliable_ if they did _not_ proclaim it.
    (2) We know that they *had the desire to exclude false narratives and keep eyewitness narratives* , because information in Paul´s letter and in gospel of Luke are the same and because Matthew´s gospel and Luke´s gospel include the same information as in Mark´s gospel (which is the earliest gospel) and because Papius acquired his information from an associate of John during the 1st century (a few decades of when the gospels were written, which is amazing in the context of ancient history!!!). It would only be _unreliable_ if the authors of the gospels _lacked_ a desire to filter out false narratives.

Mark's Jesus says no it's flexible, Mathew's Jesus says hell yes it's non negotiable(sorry Paul). Did Jesus actually have flesh and blood, Luke has Jesus eat fish and confirm he was real(sorry docetists). Mathew has Jesus take sides in rabbinic debates. John fuses Jesus with the logos first articulated by Philo.... It goes on and on. The reason we have 4 gospels is the communities who read mark thought he was inadequately framing Jesus' true teaching , which of course happened to match theirs. So they wrote their own versions of Jesus. Oh and let's not mention the interpolations in John and Mark and Mathew. That's why I can't buy chrisitianity, the text that is pretended to give clear messaging is a mess of groups fighting one another with the real Jesus lost in the battle.
